    George HumbleRoad saying “expect things to break!” and “Access” all this time and seeing it in action is so satisfying! This may be the shortest van “repair” project I have seen. Thanks for sharing!

    Thanks so much for this video! Our setup is almost exactly like yours and this worked beautifully! One note: Ours did stop because our fuel went below 1/4 tank. After the reset, we needed to try starting the heater a few times. This filled the fuel line and primed the system.

    Thanks so much for the info at 7:16. My Webasto AirTop Evo 55 was blinking 5 times quickly and it wouldn't start heating. I've had this happen in the past where it resolved itself after a period of time, however this time it was not going away. Following these instructions to reset the lockout solved the issue for me!! I read through several Webasto manuals for various heaters and this reset procedure was not mentioned anywhere.... unbelievable ha ha! This is why I also have a wood stove!!

    As a 60 y.o half fatso, that's my biggest concern with vanlife at this age :) BUT, like You said, paying someone to do it is great, until it gets to expensive and that once a year gymnastics/yoga session is OK... :)

    Based on my Webasto experience: At least once a week - run the heater full blast for at least 15 minutes continuously. After a night of use, run it full blast for at least 15 minutes before turning off. If using in high altitude, run it only on full blast and vent the van to not get too hot. Running at full blast seems to burn off / prevent carbon build up. If you do get carbon build up and see white smoke and running it at full blast doesn't stop white smoke, then it probably will need to be taken apart and cleaned. Running full blast is the ounce of prevention to avoid the pound of cure

    • @CareyOnVagabond
      @CareyOnVagabond  3 роки тому

      Thanks! Webasto sent a installer instructor to verify our builder and together they installed our system. He did tell us to do this and we have. He said at least every month run it on high for 20 minutes. Especially due to our small well insulated van. I agree with you. An ounce of prevention.😉

    According to the factory shop manual the heater goes into lockout mode after the error count increments up with each fault it sees. The hard reset resets the fault count back down to 0.

    Webasto is garbage. If you leave it un-used for month it blocks up and does not work anymore. And if you leave it un-used for 100 days, it even void warranty. Buying webasto you buy a problem and trouble and need to run it once a month for 30 min even is f***kin summer heat. And when you forget it VERY time consuming and expansive repair work of dismantling the whole device and scraping the carbon build up blocking the device inside. Not mention their rip-off scheme for remote control where you have to pay monthly fee (in addition to mobile carrier SMS/DATA fee)
    as wher 3rd party unlicensed webasto remote controllers only cost peanuts.
    When winter comes and you actually need the webasto it is most likely broken unless you have been babysitting it all summer.
