- A classic that was ironically one of the first music videos to ever appear on MTV. I wish I could sing and play this bass part at the same time like Trevor Horn can but I'll spare everyone from my attempts at vocal/bass co-ordination. Enjoy!
** I do not own any of the music used in this video. **
Wow that's amazing bass playing to such a brilliant song! I was 11 when I first heard this towards the end of 1979.Many thanks for the video.
That looked a lot of fun to play. Nicely played. I’ve never played this but it looks a good stretch is required in places. Thanks for sharing.
some of those three-fret jumps take some getting used to! but yes very fun part to play, glad you enjoyed it.
I daresay if you'd had to play the bloody thing every night of your life for several decades like Trev, you'd be able to sing it at the same time too :-) Nice job, btw.
That is true, the man could probably do both in his sleep. Glad you liked the vid.
Very nice job young man. Not just the fact that you nailed this great tune but that you even knew how great it was and is…. Honorary Boomer.
Damn!!! That is absolutely awesome! One of my all time favorite songs. Very well done! Now I can actually try to practice it. Fingertip Blisters, here I come!
Nicely dine, Bro
I'm old enough to remember seeing that first MTV moment from seeing it live. I have ever since especially loved this song and your bass playing is fantastic and faithful.
Wish I could've seen it!

One of the great bass lines in rock history
Well done.
You my friend just earned a subscriber...
Super fun
Wonderful
Excellent left hand fretting!!
Hey dude, great cover. Loving the tone...can you advise about your setup? Beginning bassist...I have pretty much the same bass and not getting the bounce you are. Amp? Strings? Effects?
I'm running my bass directly into a presonus 1824c interface, which gives you a great clean tone but not a lot of variation, at least not until you get to DAW plugins. I've also swapped out the stock player precision bass pickup for the fender original precision bass pickup. I can't remember what strings I was running back then but in terms of effects, pretty much EQ and compression plugins added after tracking.
I too am old enough to remember that first appearance on MTV. Later I dabbled in bass playing but was never anywhere close to good enough to paly this - loved every second of your playing here.
I appreciate that, thank you!
Listen very good bass!
Incredible
One of my favorite songs woooow great performance
Thanks Harry. A great piece of work. Have always loved this song since first hearing it back in the day. I have my bass out and am getting into it. A thrill to be able to learn and play it. Once again, thanks for sharing.
thanks stephen, glad i can help in some way :)
Really good, well done sir 👍
Hi Harry. May I ask about your amp and settings / effects ? I have a Schecter Diamond series Bass and Blackstar Unity amp. Thanks.
I plugged straight into a presonus studio 1824c interface plus some compression and eq from stock ableton lite plugins. Going straight into an interface is the best way to get the best clean, dry sound but not great for variation of sound, which is where the plugins come in.
@@harryrcovers2789 Thanks. My tech savvy friend will help with that.
bravissimo
Eres muy buen bajista.
gracias, soy contento te gusta el video :)
when your doing the 012 are you hammering on or picking each one? maybe its a timing thing im screwing up
picking each one, but going up, down, up for my picking pattern. hope that helps.
sorry, meant to say down, up, down.
Super❤
