Hey Tony! That was a fun day on the water, it's always fun shootin the shit with cool people that share your hobbies. Weathers starting to get warmer, hopefully we'll see you out on the water again sometime
Careful with island camping when thunderstorms are coming through. Remember Lake George... While backpacking I've spent some nights in a tent under some very bad lightning, but at least any strike had thousands of trees to choose from. Not so much on an island. ;-)
What a cool area to soak in, and celebrate life. Some areas definitely reminded me of paddles here in N. Ont. Ha, so sweet to have a duck visit like that, but yeah, I lesson in feeding wildlife for sure. Beautiful campsites! Keep rocking the adventures!
SUPs can handle alot of gear BUT you're a big sail in the wind and if the lake/river gets choppy it gets pretty unstable, not a nice paddle at all.. Kayaking is the way to go !
Nice trip and video Matt and Kerry. The Adirondacks are my neck of the woods.... and I am glad you enjoyed yourselves. I have more suggestions if you ever make your way back up. BTW... I have a strong Pittsburgh connection. I went to school in Pittsburgh and I have a ton of family there. My mother grew up in a family of 16 kids on the West End. I've got like 80 first cousins there. In my college days we would white water canoe McConnell's Mill just north of Pittsburgh. I was a little crazier back then :-) Anyway... I enjoyed a few of your other vids too... keep up the good work and happy paddling.
Hi Butch & Barb! So cool! We love your videos and you do such a wonderful job of storytelling. We love Pittsburgh and it was so fun to hear from you about your strong connections to our beautiful city. 80 first cousins! That has to make for one hell of a family reunion, probably have to rent out PNC Park with a family that big! We fell in love with the Adirondacks & could have spent months paddling the waterways, hiking the mountains & exploring the hamlets. We would love to come back. Matt really wants to try a paddle trip with portages next time. Thank you for the offer to share your suggestions for our next trip!! It certainly was very overwhelming to decide on our 1st adventure there, you start researching and it's like being a kid in a candy store; wanting to paddle every lake and river in the area, but perhaps the last-minute research paid off & gave us a fantastic introduction to the beauty of the Adirondacks. We are very excited for this paddling season as the weather begins to warm up at home. We've had a crazy month of travel and just got back from our last two-week hiking/camping trip through Kentucky & Tennessee. Looking forward to watching more of your paddling adventures. And happy paddling! Matt & Kerry
@@peaks.and.paddles Hey thank you. We love Tennessee... especially Anchor Down RV Resort. I look forward to seeing your trip videos. Barb and I have been busy working on our Adirondack camp so it has slowed down our video making. We hope to spend more time on the water this year and back off on working so hard... our camp has a looonnnggg way to go... but we have a great spot. When you make your next trip up to the ADKs just reach out and I'll make some suggestions. The best time for canoe camping is late August-Late September. From Mother's Day to Father's Day is black fly season and most people avoid that time.
How is paddleing in on board with all the gear? We usually kayak, and it's a struggle when it's very choppy. What would be the alternative if weather didnt agree and it was windy?
It's not bad with all of the gear. I'm 215lbs and I've probably had an additional 100lbs of gear on the board on some trips. The more gear you put on the board the slower the SUP moves, makes it harder to paddle, and makes the board a little less stable. We've hit choppy waters on lakes and rapids in rivers, but I've never felt unsafe on the boards. When water gets bad its easy to paddle in a kneeling position and that helps a lot with stability. But you will feel the same choppiness on the boards that you feel in a kayak, probably more so since kayaks are more stable than SUPs. We try to stick to class 1 rapids or lower when we really load up the boards for multi day trips. We've gone on dozens of trips and you're going to encounter bad weather. If it's really bad we pull over to shore and wait it out.
I met you both on the Allegheny near highland Park dam. Cool😊

Love Indian lake. We go every year and stay around the same spots. Now I’m going to have to try the other two spot you did. Thanks for sharing
Indian lake looks so peaceful. I hear the wind working its way up but wow that’s looks so amazing.
This was awesome watching.... thanks. I think I was at site number 3 on Blue Mountain Lake about 6 years ago. I love it there....
Thank you! We were blown away by the beauty of the area and were very lucky to snag one of the last spots on Blue Mountain Lake.
Day 3 water looked so calm after the morning rain ❤

I can't imagine the beauty of the nature around you in N Ontario and for you to say such kind words about our video, thank you so much!
Thank you! Dreaming of warm weather!
Haha thank you! Warm weather is right around the corner!!!
Too much work riding those boards. Seems like a nice, cozy tent and setup at the campsites.
Thanks! Love our cozy set-up after a long day of paddling!

If you're struggling in rough water doing kayak camping, you dont have the right kayak.
What size and buoyancy on those boards? I've got two 10'6" hard boards at 225L and 235L.
blue is home to me my son lives in pittsburg area
So cool! Oh how we loved it there. The local folks we met were so friendly and the lake was one of our favorites!!!
