Absolutely beautiful! I am so glad I found this video. I have been wanting to start polishing my Lake Superior finds. I have boxes full of rocks that I have found over the years. 🥰 Thank you for sharing!
That rock turned out really neat! You did such a great job on polishing it! What an AWESOME surprise with the amethyst showing up! Love your channel, keep up the good work!
I would try it, then go buy a flat lap or some sort of electrical device for polishing lol I’ve heard/read peoples complains about certain equipment and I always think, “go hand polish - you’ll be grateful” 😅
Very cool, you did an awesome job. I like the rounded edge, it must make it easier to polish. Such a cool agate hiding it's treasure until you figure out your dremel first hehe.
Beautiful stone, looks gorgeous! I just got a few pieces of orange and fluorescent calcite, plus a bit of fluorite from my friend. can't wait to cut and tumble and see how they look. It will be new for me, I've never worked with material that soft, except maybe sodalite
Sorry for not likening or commenting on your vids... I’ve been playing Minecraft with my cousins. Once again I’m blown away by how well you polish agates! Keep up the work and stay safe
Gidday Taylor😜😜, another ripper video mate, love the purple streak of amethyst in that rock.. I use a diamond wheel and EZ attachment with my Dremel for cutting some of the smaller shapes in tiles. This might be useful in cutting a small face on stones rather than grinding. The attachment and diamond cutting disk cost me about $20 here in Australia. I'm going to give it a try later today, I'll let you know how it cuts.
Nice job, hey just saying..... you can use a tile saw to help take material off your stones your working on, use it like a grinder. It helps from wearing out your other grinding bits for your Dremel. I hope you have a great day.
@@AgateDad hiya, ya I use mine that way all the time, now I bought mine from Harbor Freight, so I took the table apart so I have more of the blade, I can still use it for a trim saw, and have water dripping on it to cool it off. And there's no dust that way. My rock room is in a spare bedroom, and I definitely don't want dust all over my house. I like your set up, I wish they would make the sink longer, so you could use it for both cutting and polishing. I have buckets and buckets of agates, I just love those things, and you can also find opalized agates too. The one you were working on could be opalized agate, just saying because of color, if you could see into to stone using a loop. You never know.
Maybe look into longer laundry tubs or even..like a small livestock food troft or bin..just throwing ideas out there. Anything that can be cut and sealed would work!
Tried it on the corner of a piece of quartz and it cut it quite well also. Also used it to do a little bit of grinding on the Quartz, worked well doing that also. Keep Rockin
Watching the video, notice your work station for the Dremel. Can't really see it all that well, but I'm thinking I like it!! I do a lot of work with my Dremel. Been working in a shallow dish with water. Can you show us your set up.
I'm with Paul Carder I wouldn't cut it I'd grind and then polish some more of the orange rind off it. Still a beautiful polish having done it with a dremel which I think is the most difficult way to polish.
@@AgateDad That's still better than the first one you did. Less time and better results, I'd call that progress. Save your pennies for a cab machine or a flat lap, and that number can be down to five or ten minutes.
It’s a shame about all the little fractures in it, but it’s still a beautiful agate and it took a great polish. I personally only have minor experience with using a dremel for polishing (I use a lapidary machine myself), but it looks quite a bit more tedious to polish that way. The one thing i have considered learning how to use a dremel for polishing like that is for doing some carving in the cabochons I make. I’d be interested to see you try your hand at carving some shapes or something in the outside of one of your agate chunks without banding. Maybe we could all learn something
Thanks for watching everyone! Don't forget to subscribe and turn on notifications to stay tuned for some really fun videos in the near future!!
Oh yes. I like this one! It’s my favorite color too! Very very pretty!
Good contrast with purple and orange!
Very cool agate! Very neat to reveal what’s just beyond the surface.
Yes!! I actually gave that one to my mother-in-law!

Thanks! Much more practice needed though!
Great job polishing!
Thank you! Cheers!
That banded side came out beautiful!
It really did, thanks bud!
Love this one. So pretty!
Thanks Sue!
Thats a beautiful piece. I love the surprises when you start to polish...and it turns out better than expected. Keep it coming!
Thanks!!
Pretty polish! Nice job. :)
Thanks!
It looks like an eyeball!
Wow! That's a beautiful stone, Taylor. I anxiously look forward to the day when you take off all the peel!
Haha someday! Thanks Paul!
Great job Taylor! That is one Bea-u-ti-ful purpley agate dude. Love it😎🐾
Thanks Marlaina!
This turned out beautiful, really nice work polishing it. Love your setup.
Thanks! I hope I never have to hand polish an agate again in my life
@@AgateDad yeah, I bet. The amount of time, but I have to try it to understand it for sure.

Awesome agate 👍
Thanks 😁
Looks great my friend
Thanks John!

Superb shine!!! My vote cut it and polish the inside. Awesomeness!!!

Bona Fide amethyst find dude! Nice polish on it too!
Haha thanks man! I had it all along!

Really nice refind 😁😀 I don't believe you didn't shine your torch thru it.....
or did you!! 😀Lol
I forgot!! It didn't do it justice though! Lol
Awesome

Kersten Stafford art has some great video's how she uses this technique, helpful watch 😊
@@AgateDad ya I'm using a big tote with holes cut out, but I would like to make something bigger, lol
A big work station.
Taylor, just tried mine on some iron stone with fine bands of Opal, cut through this piece very easily.
Tried it on the corner of a piece of quartz and it cut it quite well also.
Also used it to do a little bit of grinding on the Quartz, worked well doing that also.

I'll have to try that someday!
Hi Taylor! That’s a beautiful piece. We have same dremel. Quick question. How do you know the bit grits? I dont know how to polish my stones.
I just know one is for grinding away the rind and another is 600 grit because that's what I bought.
Just felt like throwing a bit of Aussie-ism in there. 😜
:)

Haha well a good place for me to start then! It will all be downhill from here!
That looks fun! Have you ever tried carving shapes out of the rocks?
Agate is pretty hard. It could certainly be done, but there are better, softer stones (soapstone, is a good example)
I haven't but OKR is right, very hard material
That turned out great. How long are these taking you now? Are you getting faster?
This one took about 5 hours to hand polish, since it had two sides it took a little longer. Probably as quick as it can be with hand polishing lol

@@MichiganRocks 🤤 that's the dream!
Someone get this man a Cab king! Lol
If anyone wants to donate one to me I would surely get good use out of it lol

How long does it take with a dremel? The one in my hand took me 3 hours on my cab king.
I would say that only took an hour
You should get a rock cutter and expose the insides!
I plan to!
Yay! You should show us how to use one when you do! I have been dying to get one!
Nice ! 6 views / 6 likes . Your smashing 100 % young fellow.
Absolute beautiful work on that piece , thanks for sharing.
Thanks sir!
Would any agate with purlpe in it be considerd an amithist agate?
I would say so if the quartz is purple.
@@AgateDad rite on cuz i find a lot of agates with the quartz center so I'll have to cut em up I guess 👍
Why not!!
What kind of polish man?
What do you mean?
Put a light on it
