So you're saying that robot characters in a fighting game is a more outlandish idea than ramen girl?
Yes
Have you never seen a human piece of ramen?
Weirdo, I see that all the time
Weight:unimportant
print("hmm dunno robots r cool")
if hmm dunno robots r cool == true
then
mechanica == released
I guess
Dude i need that bowling mini game like right now in ARMS lol
Wii bowling:....
For real
Would make it waaaay better
shifting from "will my attack reach" to "will my attack hit" is such great game design/problem solving, I love it!
Apart from punch out was their first boxing game
Wii sports will remember that
Shade Pizza Matt will remember that.
Super smash who?
Llamalus smash bros isnt exactly a boxing game well it really isnt at all
@@eyeccantseeyouu in the actual video, he said "fighting game"
Llamalus oh riight but then again it was made by HAL originally sooo
Arms: An awesome sounding game that nobody talks about anymore.......At least people still remember Twintelle!
(Big lenny)
Twintelle? Bro she sucks
My meat: stop lying to yourself
Bro she’s too much
My meat: *Actually bro, it’s not that bad*
No now little buddy
aint gonna lie what you said is true
Who remembers Dr. Coyle?
ZappingTNT - Fortnite & More Who remembers Min Min?
I like how games are developed, its an entire creative process that takes years! I might be the one of the few active players of ARMS but i totally love every inch of it!
What do you mean "one of the few"? It sold well for a completely brand new franchise!
Kernel Panic i think he means currently lol
i agree
Of course someone with an arms profile pic would would say that
@@littlelito8424 Yeah lmao
ARMS is incredibly underrated and I wish it got more love
Maybe with the inclusion in smash bros, this game will be loved once again.
Too expensive for what it offers
@@shlecko Yeah that's understandable, it's more in the 40 dollar range for me
@@shlecko 100% this. Feels more of a 3ds game than a console one.
Cubscouter I love ARMS but I totally agree
I love ARMS and I'm sad it's not as popular as Splatoon
Yeah, it's a bit of a shame. I mean, it didn't do _badly_ or anything, but compared to Splatoon's HUGE success, it doesn't really measure up...
It doesn’t get updated much and the variety is very limited to splatoon in elements such as gameplay, game modes, game designs, and overall complexity not much replayability. Without question arms is a very fun game and is always fun to play with friends and family, yet the lack of “freshness” coming from the gameplay itself is where it goes down. In my opinion it’s Nintendo’s fault for this since they weren’t focusing on the game as much as they should, and of course the price..
Holy shit I typed all of that.
i do really love ARMS still play it from time to time and always when have friends over but what Checkers said is true it could of used as much attention as Splatoon or Mario Kart but it is what it is i guess still a very fun game none the less.
Alex_dlc To be honest, the next console *needs* ARMS 2 as a launch title. Although not as successful as other franchises, it sure was a staple on the switch’s summer months.
i love how nintendos developments circle works.
seems more like a fun adventure than a psychologically taxing time crunch...
Don't base your judgment of game developing office from a third party
That's not true. A lot of good ideas get shut down at nintendo, according to some people that worked there.
They make sure it looks like it
Well now I just feel bad
@@ChevalierSilver I mean, that's kind of what goes down in any big dev's idea room, it's all about narrowing down the ideas, like what's the most fun, what do we have for prototypes, what do we have the resources for that we have a feeling people will enjoy, etc etc...
ARMS is quite underrated. The character design of ARMS is amazing! One could even say this is Nintendo's best work in character design so far. Each one of them, very unique and charismatic.
I swear if we don't get an arms 2 i will be livid this game has so much potential, and it is still great even as it is
They most likely won't because it wasn't built upon and if im gonna be honest it is boring
Omni Xeno not only did you not fall for my trick, you bring up a good point and I'm hella mad
I want a story mode and imo, this game needs a hub, the same way how inkopolis is the splatoon hub
I am so dyslexic I thought this video was about how ASMR was invented...
AM2R
@rated nuts smra was also created by nintendo
actually, there's a lot of games like that
arsm mrsa mars asmr
masr msra sram rasm
rsma amrs amsr srma
rams smar rsam mras
sarm asrm samrs mrar
rmas msar rmsa
I want them to make an ARM2, a sequel to arms on which they fix some things with more customization and a new mechanic which lets them do like with splatoon: weekly updates
Stark 792 best comment ever
Nintendo will most likely make a sequel for the game.
Story mode
I want VR version... I know its not gunna happen but I keep imagining how bad ass it would be.
It's pretty likely now that arms is in smash.
Theory, arms was inspired by me. I had made a short in 2016, called arms. It had a person with stretchy arms. I DESERVE 2 PERCENT OF THE REVENUE
Doodlized Studios lol
Lol sue Nintendo
In the year 1987, I had a Stretch Armstrong.
#andjusticeforarmstrong
I really like arms, I just wish it was around 40 dollars rather than 60. I can’t really justify buying it at 60 cuz I don’t really feel there’s enough there. The fightings fun but there’s not much else
Great game tho
I think it should be cheaper now. It’s been a while two years since release
Id highly recommend nintendo online if your getting ARMS through
I got alot of online matches in before nintendo online shown up and it was hella fun
It's $50, so not quite $60, but still quite a lot, I agree.
Same here. I play it for free when it's open, but that's about the whole game. I'd buy it for 25, 30, because I find it really fun, but not much substance there.
That’s the main thing I’ve heard when it comes to arms. It looks extremely fun, it’s just that customers compare the equally-priced games like mario odyssey to it and obviously see that one gives you more bang for your buck.
Arms is actually pretty fun. It’s weird how certain games blow up. All people want are more games to add to a series instead new concepts. I think the switch would definitely be a lot more fun if the games had more mii related concepts.
I actually came up with the idea of a character bases on an old rotary phone, his name is telephone jack.
Nice
Yes
Either
A.be a rockabilly character
B.be a old-timer fighter
C.be a piece of garbage “back in the day we talked” gramps
Any of those would be cool
its weird how arms isnt as popular considering it actually has a world with half a story
"Aside from Punch-Out was Nintendo first-ever fighting game"...
*WII Sports crying in the background.*
something sad is my wii sports disc is broken
wii sports wasn't a game it was a tech demo
What about photo dojo?
@@sn9wm4n82 what about Wii sports resort then? Is that just an updated tech demo?
Slb Mendes punch out came out in the NES era.
Hey Nintendo, make a line of ARMS amiibo already!
Haha, that would be pretty cool!
Why not? Sound pretty good.
I never thought about that... I’d kill for a Min Min amiibo
@@ThomasGameDocs Hi!

What about super smash bros?
Just found out about this channel. Binge watching all these old cinematic movie like videos, really lovin it!
I really didn’t think a video like this even existed! ARMS is one of my favorite games, and I think this could be one of the videos I enjoyed the most in my life just because of the surprise factor alone.
The ARMS theme song gives me chills every time I hear it.
Now they’re in smash! Those designs were too amazing to be forgotten so easily
Really interesting! The editing in this video is so well done. You're so good as adding motion to something that could have easily been static. (Shaking joy cons, shaking crowd)
Haha thanks, I try to keep it as visually interesting as possible (although adding shake is often me doing that lazily, aha)
This channel is awesome. Never change your style.
Arms is cool and original, both in game and art design, I just hope that in the future there will be an Arms 2 and that they can be established powerfully among the great fighting games.
Excuse my bad English, I speak Spanish.
Great as always! Looking forward for more of your vids!
Thanks!
I was just thinking about Min Min's name for a moment because you spent so much time talking about her development and how she was based on noodles. Well... I just found out something I'm impressed I didn't realize earlier. Min Min's name is directly based on the word for "noodle" used in Chinese and many of the languages that evolved from it such as Korean and Japanese. It also may or may not be a coincidence, but "Min min" is one way to say "noodle" in Chinese. I can't say for sure whether it was intended or not as (well, obviously) the devs were all Japanese so it's hard to tell. But at the very most we know for a fact that her name was based on the word for noodle no matter which language it was truly based off of.
Edit: Something to note is that we Asians don't say "ramen" the same way "those diggly darn westerners" say, if one thinks the name was based on how the name sounds, it isn't. The "men" in "ramen" almost always has a sort of curve to it. I would assume it was just a spelling thing rather than a sound thing.
Bowl of ramen: Exist
Developers: *Ay bro that looks like a good character*
I love your videos. It’s rare to see such production value from someone so young. Keep up the good work!
Great as always! I never realized the aspects that make the game work so well, so cool how it came about!
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Okey, I love how random but logical the characters were made. First time I saw them I didn't think much of them, but keeping the idea of "springy items" really made them all fit well in the same universe
Coming in from the future, this is some deep and interesting insight, and I think arms deserves to be represented in the best way possible in smash!
I miss this game. Hope it gets a sequel one day.😔
You know those potion bottle things that drop during ARMS matches and increase your health/Rush meter? I call them Health Sauce and Rush Sauce, and I refuse to learn their actual names.
Pretty sure it's called heal juice and rush juice
@@weighedgoogcat4499 I have learned that by now. I still call them Health Sauce and Rush Sauce. (I originally thought they were Ramen Bowl-themed bc that was the first stage I played on but I still like those names)
Min Min back then: Just a regular fighter in ARMS.
Min Min now: "THE ARMS CHARACTER THAT JOINED SMASH!!!"
All your videos are so relaxing and interesting :> there is so much thought put into them and it really translates! Awesome as always
i feel like nintendo just gave up on arms
but that was one of my favorite switch games
Surqzy minmin was announced for smash which means they still have an interest for the game
"aside from punchout, was nintendo's first fighting game."
smash bros: guess i'll die
Was going crazy trying to figure out if Smash was an alternative genre, grew up 30 years believing it was a fighting game. 😐
Great content as always!!!
Thanks!
It’s very interesting that ARMS was created from trying to create a fighting game with the camera behind the player. I never really paid attention to that factor
They've been doing that since the first Punch Out, but I guess they wanted a less "serious" take on a fighting game
This is a masterclass in game design. Absolutely incredible! And wonderful video :)
I can just imagine:
*Arms Devs eating in silence*
one guy:
FUCKIN RAMEN!
My friend LOVES arms.
He would MAKE me play it with him whenever he came over. I wasn’t into it, mostly because he didn’t even tell me how to play.
6:53 Ah yes, Helix. My favorite ARMS character.
Mine is kid cobra, but good choice too
An entire video about the game that’s the spiritual successor to teleroboxer and yet releroboxer isn’t mentioned. I guess I really was the only one playing my virtual boy.
I love how this was in my recommended ever since they were confirmed for smash bros
The fact that ARMS’s back camera system is based on Mario kart is kinda surprising
"No fighting game has ever had the camera behind the fighter"
Punch Out: "Am I joke to you?"
I would be all up for an Arms 2 Cause If feel like Arms 1 was rushed out the door to be an early release on The switch
7:20 “try and create a character with international appeal” NINTENDO KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING
How did i read 'How was ASMR created?' at first? ._.
Probably Dyslexia
I remember when the nintendo switch was first shown and games that would come, gosh those were some good times
ninjara is my fav.
this game severely needs a story mode. ARMS is a great game, but if there was a story mode im certain the playability would go up, for me id play it more often.
6:32 ah, yes, my most favorite character in arms.
Ok, don't read this comment the wrong way.
First of all, I love this channel's take on content. They explain things in a very detailed way.
Secondly, I am in no way saying that Arms is a bad game. I actually love Arms, designs and concepts. The game is incredibly clever and I'm a sucker for when developers make worlds immersive by making them feel just like the real thing.
But I really wouldn't claim that Arms is a new thing in any way. In fact, most of what Arms did in terms of mechanics was already there. Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi on the ps2 already had solved the over-the-shoulder camera problem, simply because the game is based on long range fighting! It didn't have customization per se, but it did include an enormous roster of characters each with their own set of ranged and close combat attacks.
And again, is it the first Nintendo fighting game? There's several versions of Punchout, there's Wii Boxing, there's Smash Bros... and there's also game modes in other games that are reminescent of what a fighting game is. Say, Mario Kart's battle mode for example. I wouldn't think these were untested grounds for Nintendo.
However...Mechanica is the best character.
*TWINTELLE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW YOUR LOCATION*
@@Reoko77 MIN MIN WOULD LIKE TO KNOW YOUR LOCATION.
You know you’re dyslexic when you though it said ASMR and was confused when the video started. I legit stared at the title for about 30 seconds trying to figure out why the title didn’t match up 😂
Can we just appreciate his piano skills
Great work as always! I need to pick this game up evidently.
Haha, I think it's a lot of fun!
it's 4 am and Thomas here asks me how arms are created..
I love ARMS so much and it needs a sequel
Wait, so Twintelle wasn't inspired by Bayonetta at all?
YOU DISSAPOINTED ME NINTENDO
Haha, sadly it doesn't seem like it... That would be very cool, though!
Both girls are practically relatives XD Everyone made the comparison when Twintelle's trailer came out 😂
Hey, maybe you could do Bayonetta's development process some day in the future please? She's my waifu XDD
8:56 so that kinda explain's why spring man isn't a playable character in smash ultimate but I'm glad that arms is representative in smash since there's arms assist trophies arms spirits and arms Mii constums
Edit:I also wonder if they can make a racing game but it's in 2D I'm pretty sure that Nintendo or some other developer will make that happen
6:00 Is that why Captain Falcon and Kirby were eating noodles in SSBU Min Min trailer?
7:08 yes that pose is very graceful
This game could have been more popular if it had more variety to do like online and real time tournaments like how splatoon has spatfests.Maybe next game?
ARMS had Party Crashes, basically splatfests but for ARMS
DVD disc music is just the humming but people love em
'The music was highly energetic'
*Splattack Intensifies*
This channel is way too unnoticed.

Tetris 99 - Battle Royale
Interesting one! I wasn't expecting you to cover ARMS so soon! I more or less liked the game myself, but I'm sure there's still stuff about it that can be improved on!
Definitely - I think it has great sequel potential!
Man now I want to play Arms again
I always wondered what would a survival horror game would look like if made by Nintendo, would love to see them try a lot of more genre's different genres.
0:24 Joy Mech Fight, Mr. "Nintendo History Guy."
I wish this game stayed alive for longer. It’s so much fun and works as a competitive game really well
It’s sad, this game is one of the first I wanted by the time I got the switch. I would always play the demo until I got it. Though, I didn’t because I wanted Mario kart. This game is kind of underrated if you ask me.
Byte being the only member of the base roster not to get his origins explained, RIP
Next Game: *LEGS*
Ever since I got ARMS it was my most played game.
I think Arms has potential. Just needs more content.

Those names could compete with Pokémon's for lamest ever... but seems fun: 9/10 game, 10/10 video!
Thanks! I want to figure out how to script a similar style arms gameplay mechanic in Unity. Thus watching the video. Seems maybe it is like launching a remote control hand projectile...with a smoke trail that stays connected to the arm and then snap that projectile hand to the arm again quickly.
