I helped take of a man and his toenails was so big he couldn’t wear shoes ! I measured his nails before I cut them. The big toenail was 4 inches long and very thick. I had to use tin cutters to get the job done. He was so scared of me doing it but I told him to trust me, that I knew I could do it ! RIP Bill
I am a retired O.T., having practiced over 38 years in various settings all over the country. With all due respect, how is it that the family or caregivers can’t find a Podiatrist closer to her? This isn’t good for her as you can agree, I’m sure. It saddens me that she’s in this state of neglect…❤
I feel that it boarders on " elder abuse" and is not good in any way. So sad for the lady.

There’s all kind of factors that could be considered. Eldercare is one. Mental or other health issues a priority, economics, transportation are also plausible. The list goes on. Let’s not jump to conclusions that the family is neglectful. Perhaps this podiatrist can make a referral to someone who is geographically closer.
Skin on feet looks like dehydration, needs Vicks vapo rub along with eucerin moisturizer.
Before anyone judges the patient or Dr Kim, listen to the intro again. Dr Kim had limited time due to the travel time of the patient. Also, dr Kim said there were personal issues the lady was having. There are many reasons why her feet were not looked after. Watch other videos. You will learn what difficulties people can face. Thanks Dr Kim for helping this lady. I hope her future becomes easier.
I will judge. Because four years is neglect. Anyone who had a role in this person care was and is negligent. No nail cuts? no moisturiser? no visits just to the family Dr for help? NEGLECT.
Home health nurse here, I find it hard to believe that no one tried to trim this woman's toe nails in four years. You don't need fancy clippers, and clipping nails isn't rocket science. This is neglect.

Well I'm gonna put my two cents worth in here - I'm close to 60 and I have never, ever seen my mother's feet. Even if I did, there is no way on this earth that she would let me near them, let me fix her a nice soak for her feet, or even take her to a doctor. I know she can't trim her own nails. Jones of this is neglect (in my case), it is just dealing with an older, crabby, stubborn woman. 😅 And I imagine she's not the only one of her kind!
People, please help take care of your parent's feet as well as your feet. Sometime our elders are too embarrassed to ask for help are to show us their feet. Thanking God for doctors who care.
It’s beyond my comprehension that a family or nursing home can look at this poor woman’s feet without doing anything….. Make a phone call to a podiatrist or buy a nail scissor and cut her nails and give her a good foot bath. Anyone in its right mind can do that. I cared for my mothers feet for many years , it’s not difficult.
I cared for my mother’s feet as she had done for her parents.
With nails like this how were her caregivers even able to put her socks on?

Dear lady. I don't understand how her family could let her get in this condition. Surely, they had a podiatrist in their area.
I wish Dr. Kim had done a voice over discussing the condition of her nails, his procedures, what he advised her, etc. The video would have been much more interesting. She definitely needs a follow up.

I’m sure this patient faces difficulties, but if not her, can a family member stop by once a year (at least) and helps her soak her feet in warm water for an hour or so and trim her nails? If unable to see a professional maybe a pedicurist can assist.

More than likely more is done off camera by an assistant. Dr Kim is an exceedingly good and caring doctor ❤
Perhaps we should watch this video for what is is, rather than what it isn't. Assumptions about the patient or techniques really aren't that useful. Is the author likely to change their podiatry technique just because of others comments? These videos are to educate & empower re foot care.... That's all.

That's nasty! Why isn't her family taking care of her? Those feet need some serious help. Break out a nail file every once in a while and do it for her! That didn't happen overnight.
She probably is scared to go somewhere else and just trusts Dr. Kim with her feet. If she bathes herself, she could have easily kept her feet covered from her caregivers...sometimes its not neglect, but fear that might mqke a person procrastinate.

Why didn’t they find a podiatrist closer to home or someone in the family cut her nails? Since it’s the last time they will be coming to the Dr those questions see quite reasonable. The family will have to do it now!

I don't see that imitation Dremel doing anything to those nails or calluses.... Can't the supposed Dr. tell nothing is happening either? What a waste she should have gone to a pedicureist instead and probably paid less and gotten a more thorough job done.

It looked like you could have taken more off of the toenails
You can only go so far if live skin is attached to the nail farther out. Sometimes the skin grows with the nail.
He said time was limited due to long time on the road and the lady's condition etc.
She has other health issues and it's better not to take off too much.

All the nails are shorter but still look bad. I think he should have taken more off each toenail maybe using a blade like the Chinese do because the dremel did not do much.
thats the worst case of nail fungus ive ever seen! soak those puppies in vinegar every day!

Children with elderly parents..Really need to help out there parents put on some gloves and at least cut them until you make an appointment..I took care of my elderly parents..Never have training to put the feed in a food soaker..And i took my time. My father just love it.He asked me where i learned to take care of feet like that.. i took him. Just watching UA-cam🤷🏽♀️..My mother on that other hand didn’t want me to touch them..But i still would cut down her nails..So please help them out

This guy has used same style of nippers forever. Trimming nails does not seem to be one of his better skill sets.....tho he has improved since he started using the nice dremel.

(Last visit) you did not take enough time with her. You could have cut her nails more with the clippers. Your Dremel tip hardly did anything. You should have gone back and clipped more. I give this a 2/10. Disappointed.
