    Short story for you guys here. We picked up a pair of 200 years back, to make one good one out of two. After making one full one, we couldn't get it to start. There was fuel, spark, and air. It tried to start once, so we figured it was the timing. Adjusted the timing which wasn't too far off anyway, still no start.
    What happened was the little pulse generator rotor was backwards. It was newer and clean, and I compared it to the one in the parts bucket. They were both oriented the same direction, which apparently was backwards. So the guy before us bought a new rotor, swapped it on backwards like the one he already had, couldn't start it, then sold it to us.
    We then had the ignition switch all bypassed because it was falling apart and had no key. We pulled the cord a few times, thing started up, and VROOOOOOOOOOM the engine started screaming. Carb idle screw was set basically maxed out. That one was us. No exhaust on it either so it was looooud. We quickly realized oh shit, let's shut it down before it kills itself. Well of course the kill switch didn't work. So my dad just grabbed hold of the wiring harness and yanked it apart so it died.
    Fun times. We got it running and working now, still a little more to go but a fun project

    My 84 starts so easy the kicker would hand to give out totally for it not to be easy to start. All I need is one catch all the way at bottom of kick to start mine. But it sat outside in a field for at least 5-6 years so that’s probably the secret to why it works so well.

      May be so, keep in mind many got updated by Honda back in the day, so there are many that will never slip.

      @Thumper68 Рік тому +2

      @@mrcbuilds possibly it’s not perfectly solid and I think it does slip little when kicking from highest point sometime or could just be not getting it on that good compression like you feel for ya know. But usually I’ll try one maybe two like that if I don’t light up I just sit down reset to lowest point it feels it’s got compression and it’s pretty much perpendicular like a shifter and it will start. The way I discovered this was struggling to get it started the first time after I got it and I was absolutely wiped out and gave up sat down kicked it and it started and I was like hell yeah and it’s been awesome machine since🤣

    I learn a little bit of something everytime I watch your channel. I'm glad you shead the light on which motors would go into a 200x frame, and that you metioned the 2nd gen 125M. I've never really seen one of those,(except on the internet) that has the more vertical cylinder like the 200's, compared to the older 125m's that are more common like a 110 or 90 style.
    Is the power to the ground about the same with the auto transmission compared to the clutch or doe's it rob the snappy feel of engagement when shifting? oh and I just ordered two coffee mugs from you. A 250R and a 350x, those are pretty cool looking, they'll make me drink more coffee in the morning! LOL! 👍👍

    • @mrcbuilds
      @mrcbuilds  Рік тому +1

      I'm glad the videos helped. As for shifting the auto is softer by nature, you can hold a shift and even dump the clutch on a auto, but it takes some practice.

      Thnx, I'm trying. No luck on getting the new chain tight. I want to take out a link, but afraid it'll be too short. Found out that this bike actually came with a 12 tooth front sprocket. If I change that, I was told that I would have to get into the transmission. Definitely above my pay grade. 😅 my new carb came in, so I'll install this week. Mrcbuilds... On a kick-start ATC 200X (1985) I'm getting a small amount of oil leaking on the top of the stator-to-engine case gasket. In this video you reinstalled that gasket in fast motion @27:05 so I couldn't really see. That's not a hard gasket, correct ? It's a round, rubber-band style gasket ? Compression: 150psi
    Spark: Yes
    Timing: Yes
    Valve adjustment: Yes
    Cam Chain adjustment: Yes ( loosened the 14mm at TDC to relieve tension)
    Exhaust pipe: no blockages
    Still not getting anything on starting fluid. Carb is after market but taking that out of the equation right now as i'm not too worried about the fuel delivery as i'm battling this scenario with it not popping off. If you have spark and compression and spray and it dosent run. Then it has to be timing. I bet you installed the rotor 180 degrees out of phase. If that doesn't fix it than verify your cam lobes are down at tdc.
