I understood it for the most part. I think trying to think of it the way you yourself would think about God when you were a child by yourself, using all your own imagination and not restricted to a rigid Christian Sunday School teaching is helpful. My thanks to Fr Rohr. Regarding Fr Rollheiser however, the example cited by Fr Richard was good. Fr Rollheiser however, can sometimes also show himself to be not understanding. Maybe he did not have time in a particular show to explain why he was almost hostile in saying that a woman had to do whatever her husband says. It was not even necessary for him to bring it up, and he made himself sound like a narcissist because it did not even fit the conversation, but he just had to throw it in there! St Peter writing 2,000 yrs ago when women had no rights against abusive husbands, even so, Peter balanced both sides and reasoned why there was a need for co-operation from them mutually, also implying that a husband did not love his wife with wholeness if he mistreated her, and he was very clear that God would hinder his prayers if he did mistreat his wife. Peter was a married man with children, he had experience. Even in the OT God proves Peter's teaching to be true. King David's second wife Abigail saved him from taking action and committing war acts on her first husband Nabal in retaliation for Nabal's offending David and his men. Abigail did this by disobeying Nabal and providing food supplies to David. She was mistress of the household but Nabal's men did not have to listen to her, but they apparently did not want an armed conflict because of Nabal's hateful stupidity. Abigail knew that her disobedience might cost her her life or be cast out with nothing. He had always been abusive to her, so she was prepared to face him and tell him what she did. He was drunk and so she waited until the morning, and when she told him he had no time to respond but immediately had a stroke, and the Bible acct says that ten days later God struck him, so that he died.
77 Jesus said, "I am the light that is over all things. I am all: from me all came forth, and to me all attained. 2 Split a piece of wood; I am there. 3 Lift up the stone, and you will find me there." (Gospel of Thomas)
Its great for diff.religions to talk on mystical level.
After viewing this presentation on The Cosmic Christ leads me to ask: what, now, is the purpose of evangelization; why should I promote my religious faith and try to make converts?

Because Christianity is still a privileged encounter with Christ in his entirety represented by the person of Jesus. But that doesn't mean that there aren't elements of truth or Christ conciousness in other traditions or philosophies.
Because most people are unconscious to the truth. They dont believe in any Christ.
That’s why everything he’s saying is heretical hogwash!!! If you believe what Rohr says you cannot believe the Bible. The 2 are not compatible AT. ALL.
@Addie So, you worship the Bible. You refuse to invest a few curious years of your time to do a sincere, comprehensive research of the history of how your Golden Calf that you call the Bible was pieced together by Roman Priests and Scribes hundreds of years after the scrolls and tablets had been written in an alphabet and grammar unfamiliar to Roman priests... and of course tablets ripped, crushed and otherwise damaged when gathered together.
It was politics over sincerity with the motive and the method. That's what the Roman priests of the day were all about.
And that's what's wrong with the well-meaning but misled, misinformed and prejudiced ''Christians" today. They love their religious politics. You too. The Bible is twisted pretty much heresy..
Richard Rohr's Cosmic Christ is derived directly from Teilhard de Chardin.
I read most of Teilhard's books many years ago and Richard Rohr seems to be making Teilhard's spirituality accessible to the average person. There is no doubt that Richard Rohr was greatly influenced by Teilhard.
Neither Teilhard nor Richard Rohr are prompting a new God, instead both are rediscovery the Christ(which Teilhard referred to as the ever greater Christ) portrayed by Paul in the first century.
I suggest some of the commenters read the first line of the Gospel of John, prior to making assertions of heresy.
If Teilhard/Richard Rohr are heretical, then so is the Gospel of John and the Christ portrayed by Paul.

Yes, and Jesus is the human manifestation of the Christ. It doesn't take anything away from Jesus whatsoever. Jesus IS the Christ, and the Father, and the Spirit, but he's also just the man Jesus.
Jesus is not the ONLY person that Christ has dwelt in for everyone who has been filled with the Holy Spirit has had his Revelation.
Jesus was known in a previous incarnation as Jacob whom God adopted as his first born son and named him Israel.
Isaiah 49:3 states *You are Israel my servant, in whom I shall be glorified*
The Catholic Church is against reincarnation because of that simple fact, and that it is not that Jesus Christ is traceable to King David but that God clearly gave Abraham his promise.
Jesus Christ qualified John the Baptist to be the spirit and power of Elijah, that in fact he was Elijah redivivus.
John the Baptist qualified Jesus Christ as Israel in his identifying the Lamb of God, and his assertion that *I am unworthy to untie the latchet of his sandals* by this reappearance as Jesus having entered Paradise and Ascended as Israel and by returning as Jesus he fulfills the title *Son of Man* as stated in John 3:31

That assumption that Jesus Christ is all members of the Trinity falls flat because it takes away their identity, they and Jesus *Are members one of each other*
God the Father is beyond gender, God the Son is male God the Holy Spirit is female, proof of which is throughout creation having to have a male feminine genesis.
Orthodoxy is the only right way!!!
