I used to hate my 4c hair that I would always try to cover it up or wear a hat, I stopped because I realized it was damaging my hair. Growing up I always thought I had ‘bad’ hair because that’s what everyone else said.
I am super happy and thankful when I see videos like this I wish there was someone giving me this much intel when I felt shame growing up.
    Thank you 🙏

What I learned was that natural kinky - coily hair has a sheen to it. Like it glistens in direct sun light or artificial light, due to how the cuticles lay upon the hair shaft. Our hair bends and straight hair doesn't so it has shine, while in direct sunlight or artificial light. 4c hair most likely has sheen if it's properly cleaned and moisturised. If your 4c hair is dull then it's not getting properly cleaned and may need to be clarified. Especially if it has build up from oils and other stuff that contracts to it. And just cuz every strand doesn't coil or curl in a specified pattern all over. That don't mean that 4c hair is unhealthy. 4c hair does coil or curl up individually strand by strand, it's just that all the strands don't flow in the exact same direction, as with 3a-4a hair. (Hence why it appears more like a fro) Also... 4c hair has very tiny coils or zig zags? 3a-4a have large to medium coils/curls/zig zags? 4b hair may have some curl pattern...however it's like 4c in that all strands curl uniquely from one another. 💕Habby, don't worry about all these theories or misinformed upcoming naturalists. Their just learning about natural hair and some information that they share is not always right. Great video tho and you look fabulous btw.😊😂😁😁😁

I know this comment is old but I’m thanking you for making me really think…
I wash my hair regularly but I’ve had it n braids for ages. I have not, however, clarified it in years because I use very light products. I am here trying to fathom why my hair looks dull when blow dried and straightened now when it used to shine like glass before. Clarifying is a good place to start…

This is why a lot of the natural hair videos talk about sheen versus shine. Hair that has little kinks and curls in it just doesn't have the smooth surfaces necessary to reflect light in a way that translates to our eyes as shine. It's the difference between a rough cut stone and one that has been polished -- and I don't mean that as an analogy to show a preference for the polished stone. Lighter colors also reflect light better, so that's another factor. Sheen would be those little points of light you see in your hair. Hard to describe. For me, I really strive for my hair to feel soft. I think by design (evaporative cooling maybe) it dries very quickly without the aid of conditioners and oils and then it can feel crunchy and hard. So, I'm always looking for softness and a smooth feel (which can come from products - like butter, like castor oil) not for shine.

#first :), In my case i got 4b hair. when i neglect it for a while it starts to look grayish and it feels harsh when u touch it a long with frizz. But, when I take care of it, it looks darker and healthier, I get less frizz and it kinda get more definition like 4a hair.

Somebody is lookin fit as a young fiddle these days, diggin the background too. My hair was blond and straight when I was in single digits and then brown and curly later on (the blond was easier to take care of...when I bothered taking care of it). Friesian horses have kind of a hair transformation and while I know horse hair must be different it's worth pondering cause they really do have stunning black hair, it's like out of a horsey story book.

Hey sis! Have u tried bentonite clay ? Also how does your hair react to sea water? It looks similar to mine which seems to love sea water and clay for some reason I make a mask whenever it starts to look and feel congested when using oils and butters , also I dont use conventional conditioners or shampoo as that used floof out my hair which then made it super dry lol

Is that mostly it ? Women's hair ? And we look forward to sometimes hear other than that. I am sure women have plenty of other interests and those are....? I can name a few but don't you think you can help us understand more? because you look like a feminist to me so break your silence and be open about it and.....double the # of your subscribers on the way.
