I'm more of a werewolf fan... But I was randomly gifted the first two mangas of Vampire Knight back in high-school, and your commentary is hilarious. I am hooked xD
Honestly vampire knight was the " first " anime I watched. Sure I knew about naruto, sailor moon and stuff like that but I didn't know that they were anime. I was 14 when I watched it. I spend all night watching with school next day. I was obsessed. It was thanks to vampire knight that I start to watch other anime. Yes now I can't rewatch it because .... I can't even put it to words. I still have a special place in my heart for it. But I wouldn't watch it again.

You gotta read her other works, MeruPuri and Captive Hearts. It's... so much. There's always a really, really weird taboo in EVERY relationship she writes.
Worse than CLAMP. Some of their works are fine, and most of the time the main relationship in the story isn't weird. That is not the case for Matsuri Hino.
Also i really think you should read Gakuen Alice! At first its seemingly a kid’s series but it gets so dark and emotional after 30-ish chapters and its really good and bittersweet! Would love to see your review for it
Vampire Knight will always be that one manga/anime that... I am glad I never go into and thus saved me from the whole damage to my psyche and GREAT CONFUSION coming from this story. Instead I got into D.Grayman, which frankly.. I love so much and I'm glad to find. Though, I still wanted to know how the story for Vampire Knight went in summary.
Oh hey a fellow D. Grayman fan! Same thing happened to me, ended up skipping Vampire Knight and read D. Grayman instead but curiosity never really left about VK but too lazy to pick it up..
If you like stories of people dealing with trauma and overcoming it you should review fruit basket. There is a complete manga, an ongoing sequel, and two separate shows (one from early 2000s that got cancelled and a 2019 reboot that completes the story)!
I remember seeing Vampire Knight during an anime listing and thought of it as some sort of edgy story. It wasn't actually up to my tastes up to that point, and I am both cringing yet enjoying Negative's reviews of this very, very, VERY weird story lmao.
thats where i first came across VK too and it always played after Good Game XP if im not wrong. im on both teams because i dont know how to choose when i love both characters
Yes I completely agree Memories is so much more mature. Something I really think this manga-ka does well is conveying complex emotion with beautiful artwork, so a character will say something simple but their expression conveys so much more.
I also like Memories, I think the mangaka's comedy and romance (Aidou and Yori and even some Zeki) are honestly good or at least nice. It still has some stuff that some people might dislike or even hate (Incest and other unlucky ships not having interesting moments) and the plot sometimes is kind of boring, like those "fights" with lower vampires but overall is cool. I loved when Ai confronted Yuki about her still not hooking up with Zero after god knows how many years because she still had "feelings" for Kaname, like YEAH FINALLLY SOMEONE SAID IT.
So ive wondered this alot too, but I read a comment that made sense. They said that in the culture since kids don't have any concept of romantic love that when the younger child wants to "marry" their older sibling or parent in a manga/anime its because they love them and that's the only way they see them being together forever. It doesnt "marry" like when ur an adult, its just meant to be a cute way to express how the child felt affection towards their older sibling/parent. I've noticed this in alot of japanese shows.

This anime used to be my hardest obsession ever. Now, years later I totally see whats wrong with this story and can totally understand every criticism. BUUT, I still love this Manga and Anime to death. It was my entrance to Anime in general and will always have a special place in my heart
Frankly sounds better than what the original was going for, in most regards. Though the author's understanding of romantic development is seeming to be painfully under-baked, at least on Yuki's side of things. She always has the men pining over her, but she really doesn't do very much to be progressive or assertive in the process herself.
I don’t think I finished Memories but I did get annoyed when they changed Ren’s gender because there wasn’t really much explanation. But aside from that, I didn’t like the sisters loving each other for…reasons?
It actually wasn't changed to our knowledge. The original uses gender neutral way to describe Ren and due to Ren looking masculine translators used "brother" instead of "sibling" (kyoudai as was called originally). Personally, I love Ren as female, there's a lot of women who grow into looking masculine from feminine and I hate how much media ignore that.
For me I liked both original VK and VKM until about the middle part. I totally agree that VKM is more mature and interesting story (and focus was finally given to the secondary characters I wanted to know about - like Aido and Sayori, Shiki and Rima). The conflict of humans against vampires is also much more detailed and not on the sidelines. Yuki and Zero's character and relationship development are fleshed out a lot better. My favorite part is when Zero is saying how he regrets turning his back on Yuki for becoming a vampire, I think it was a great approach. But imo, author tends to really extend the story unnecessarily. Sara's ark in the VK was too long and brought nothing, and now memories kinda go in the same direction. My guess is that it is due to payment being per manga page. I hope author does not prolong it too much, but who knows...
Vampire knight is what I watch when I’m not mentally okay. I just revert back to my cringe 12 y/o self. It’s a dark guilty pleasure cause the incest thing gets me SO fucked up every time 😭
i don't mind Yuki and Zero being together i just hate how Kaname was destined to be lonely his whole life . All he did was for Yuki , he endured having her forget everything and being away from her and then when she's finally back she decides she loves Zero more. if only i didn't rewatch the anime and search for the manga ending, because in my childhood memories Yuki picked Kaname and they traveled together , and in my childhood memories i thought they were really siblings and that it is a custom for purebloods to marry within the family to preserve their very rare existence. but turns out Yuki married Zero and had a kid with both Kaname and Zero and then Zero dies so she decides to die with him by turning Kaname into a human .... and the fact that Ai, Kaname and Yuki's daughter was also kinda into Zero is sooo messed up . i don't support a pureblood marrying the son of the most popular vampire hunter family. she fucked up the bloodline and their relationship was clearly gonna be stained in blood because neither the vampire nor the vampire hunter community would accept it .
Everytime I hear vampire knight something samps in me. I don't mind the harem ending but my boy zero has to continuously suffer got me angry all the time.
I always just assumed that these types of shows where siblings being romanticlly involved was just a fat shout out to how aristocracy was indeed quite incestuous in all reality.. yes??
Never completed the original manga run when i was younger (library was the only place i could get them) this is a great video. How they ended up doing a siblings in love scenario again is wilddddd
Manga I hope you can make videos about: Because they're good: Otomen Soloist in the Cage Mermaid Saga Tokyo Mew Mew Summertime Rendering Because they're bad (in my opinion): Please Save my Earth (everything but the couples are good) So Cute it Hurts (mentally ill woman abandons her children, her psychiatrist helps her get better but rather than making her to go back to her children, they get married and have a child together, this is framed as "romantic") Gakuen Alice (I wasn't able to get into it, maybe the school setting. When I tried catching up on what I missed was there many teacher-student relationships...) And many more, but this'll do for now.
I was a huge vampire knight fan and I honestly still am. Its so bad its good. Its just good fun. But I never did go back and read the manga and I didn't even know this got released. I went back and read the manga when it looked like you were going to start making these videos. After finishing Vampire knight....ehhh IDK man this writer is not great. It does sound like memories is genuinely better tho.
I love VK and VKM. If you like vampire manga I strongly recommend Rosario Vampire. The anime doesn't do the manga any justice. It's really dark. Also, Blood Mary. It's ten volumes and no its not boys love.
I watched this yesterday but I'm back bc I went to a random Barnes and Noble in MN on a trip today and got Vampire Knight Memories Vol. 8, and I went to check my Amazon list because I didn't realize it released so fast but on Amazon it's still pre-order. I also checked the Barnes and Noble website and it says pre-order. WHAT THE HECK
It's being serialized?! I remember reading like the light novel or whatever when I finished the manga. Ok, I'm getting back into it. Memories, here we come!
I love the videos you made cus the way you put it made the whole show sounds more interesting then it is hahaha! I personally find memories boring. To be fair, when i first watch/read this series back when it starts coming out, i was watching it thinking it would be a vampire love story (half not wrong?) so ever since they stray away from the 3 ways drama, i lost interest hahahaha! I continued cus i wanted to know who ends up with yuuki and i love zero. For memories, i was only interested to watch zero (i grew up to think the incest part is weird too by this point). Cus the whole politic side of things just blews over my head and i don remember a single thing about it, there is no love interest things to hook me now (NO to ai and ren situation sorry), so im basically watching for zero. The art is still gorgeous after all. I'm sure it comes as no surprise, the moment zero is no longer around, i dropped this series like a hot pan. p.s love the yugioh legacy behind on your screen!
I never caught the VK fever in middle school so I never read it. I only knew the plot in passing cuz the inc*st plot was infamous (and got meme'd everywwhere). But hearing you talked about VKM kinda makes me want to try reading it fr, thanks!!
When you said that Ren and Ai was a pun it immediately clicked for me because I named a character Ren'Ai for the signification EDIT: I spend the entire video staring at my screen in utter disbeleif. I really don't find it interesting at all personnaly, felt like it wass going in every directions, still can't let go of it's.... Problematic thematics. Also why is youtube telling me I'm on Dominic Noble channel wtf?
hey have you played yugioh rush duel on switch, it's a cool format and i hope the anime comes out here. would be neat if you did a series on the history of yugioh's animation studio and how they lost their deal with konami
Im sad cause the story is so ass but the art is still to this day amazing. Enjoyable as a kid but my god I wish the mangaka just stuck with the art and got another writer (one preferably without the poorly disguised incest fetish)
You should watch dance in the vampire Bund! That show is vampires, werewolves, and all sorts of things that seems messed up or actually are messed up. The manga is better, btw.
"Zero being the clearly superior partner" was the realest thing I've ever heard lmaao

The original uses gender neutral way to describe Ren and due to Ren looking masculine translators used "brother" instead of "sibling" (kyoudai as was called originally). Personally, I love Ren as female, there's a lot of women who grow into looking masculine from feminine and I hate how much media ignore that.
@@xHikaruIzumi in the end of VK, Ai said “brother”
@@makesomehassel3181 yeah. I was disappointed as well. But the story’s good
@@hirahiro2331that's actually part of the translation error
I thought Ren was a boy this whole time (zero and yuuki‘s child)
The incest destroys any fun I could have with this series 😢
Everytime I hear vampire knight something samps in me.
I don't mind the harem ending but my boy zero has to continuously suffer got me angry all the time.
I always just assumed that these types of shows where siblings being romanticlly involved was just a fat shout out to how aristocracy was indeed quite incestuous in all reality.. yes??
Never completed the original manga run when i was younger (library was the only place i could get them) this is a great video. How they ended up doing a siblings in love scenario again is wilddddd
Once again, Zero was the best character.
Kaname and zero should've hooked up.
It had a sequel!?
still publishing 1 volume a year
I recall both liking Memories and eyes glazing over while reading.
I love how he said most people got into it around middle school even tho I was in the third grade 😂
Manga I hope you can make videos about:
Because they're good:
Otomen
Soloist in the Cage
Mermaid Saga
Tokyo Mew Mew
Summertime Rendering
Because they're bad (in my opinion):
Please Save my Earth (everything but the couples are good)
So Cute it Hurts (mentally ill woman abandons her children, her psychiatrist helps her get better but rather than making her to go back to her children, they get married and have a child together, this is framed as "romantic")
Gakuen Alice (I wasn't able to get into it, maybe the school setting. When I tried catching up on what I missed was there many teacher-student relationships...)
And many more, but this'll do for now.
What lip color are you wearing?!
You look so good ❤ keep doing it
YAY I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS ON THIS
Vampire Knight still holds a special place in my heart ^^
Yori and Aido were my only ship since the first episode 😂
The absolute hilarity of the out of context "At least they can't have children" I'm dying on the floor laughing over that one
I just feel they should reboot the anime ❤ we need more !!!!
It's being serialized?! I remember reading like the light novel or whatever when I finished the manga. Ok, I'm getting back into it. Memories, here we come!
The fact that they retconned the incest and put us through all that gross shit for nOTHING
ngl, the vampire Knight videos kinda wanna make me watch it or read it. It looks good
I really like the little makeup u have on, you look pretty
I like watching the time on the Switch homescreen during the videos
I’d love to see you watch/do an analysis on devils line 😊
I dropped vampire knight because of the sibling romance.
I never caught the VK fever in middle school so I never read it. I only knew the plot in passing cuz the inc*st plot was infamous (and got meme'd everywwhere). But hearing you talked about VKM kinda makes me want to try reading it fr, thanks!!
When you said that Ren and Ai was a pun it immediately clicked for me because I named a character Ren'Ai for the signification
EDIT: I spend the entire video staring at my screen in utter disbeleif. I really don't find it interesting at all personnaly, felt like it wass going in every directions, still can't let go of it's.... Problematic thematics.
Also why is youtube telling me I'm on Dominic Noble channel wtf?
You are keeping me fed, in good health, bubba my skin is glowing. Thank. You. Binch. 10/10
I honestly could not muster up the courage to read the vampire knight manga. Thank you for informing all of us on what it's about
hey have you played yugioh rush duel on switch, it's a cool format and i hope the anime comes out here. would be neat if you did a series on the history of yugioh's animation studio and how they lost their deal with konami
I think I read through the short stories and not the whole series. Well, now imma go back and read through those
Im sad cause the story is so ass but the art is still to this day amazing.
