- The anime that was popular for all the wrong reasons. A train wreck of a show that stole our hearts and promptly stomped on it too. How did the manga change after the anime ended? And was there any story changes the anime made?

I love how Kaname literally openly showed Yuki that he romantically loved her and she goes "Mmkay lemme just turn you into a human and let you spend the rest of your life with my kids. They're your rival's kids too btw."
also one of them is his kid as well. So really it's just "Have fun figuring out which is yours."
@@semideadnat lol, wouldn’t be hard.
@@semideadnat ya its really obvious which of the two has which father. let alone the fact ones older than the other.
@@phoenix7240 no I know, I just made my comment to be funny
IKR?! though her this behavior reminds me of some animal that does it (dont remember which one) so i guess it matches up lmao
I really appreciate how you point out how Yuki is not only better in the manga, but also a VICTIM, and actually comes into her own. Too many reviewers of Vampire Knight are far too harsh on Yuki, and it's nice to find someone who gets the nuances of her emotions and inner turmoil.
Yes! I mean kaname is a text book abuser because of his own issues. He is suicidal most of the story and so is zero. Yuki jumps back an forth between them trying to keep them from killing themselves and both said she couldn't leave them or they would end themselves.
I think I wish the author expanded more on Yuki’s own inner turmoil rather than having to constantly diffuse the ticking time bombs that were Zero and Kaname. When she broke down because of her own lack of memories I actually felt really bad for her.
I actually hated Kaname more after reading the manga lol
Same
Same after reading more about the truth about Kaname and his motivations behind everything made me dislike him more.
I never like him
I read manga only
also the manga looks more beautiful
Yes the art is beautiful, i get Death Note vibes and well they are both gothic you can say. Well i always pick Kiryu early on so I didnt care about Kaname lol
I already hated him in the anime since I find him creepy and incest and manipulative and when I read the manga, I hated him even more. The guy is the worst
Kaname creeped me out long before the sibling twist. Zero was my favorite the entire time. Love him.
Same, he was always silently looking over yuki letting her being herself and do whatever she wants unlike Kaname was constantly manipulating her telling her what to do and what she should be etc
Im a bit glad ive been a team zero all along lol
Yesh, team Zero!!
I was so obsessed with zero when I was a kid and was so dissapointed when the anime went towards kaname tht I tried to forget ever watching the show lol
@@moocow4megrace And then he gets Kaname's sloppy seconds?
I was team kaname as a middle schooler because I was extremely lonely and craved love. Even though kaname was messed up, he gave yuki unconditional love for no reason and I craved that.
Now that I’ve grown and am a lot mentally healthier, omg kaname is such a groomer and I am so glad I didn’t have someone like kaname in my life when I was basically yukis age 😰
Reading it as a adult was such a trip. He's actually a wonderful example of a groomer because the whole time he's with Yuki he is treating her like a child. She is to be obedient to him and understand that he knows better than her. He punishes her by removing that love at one point because she stood up for herself. It's so textbook abusive in the manga.
@@jessijaneway6660 omg you’re so right-
Unlimited? 😂 dont you mean unconditional? Uh doesnt sound like uh nvm im not gonna say it
You don't have to be feeling emberassed because the anime was kind of made for the purpose of teens demographic just as Twilight or any vampires storyes had been at that time. The action and the characters have been rather present in a tragic light or romantic kind of way for us teens, who are rather very easily impressed at that age, to root for the tormented Kaname or Zero......After some time and growing up we see them in a diffrent light.
Seriously. I was always Team Zero. Dude is trying to protect Yuki from the elder blood-drinking creep who obviously has plans for her. Kaname has been grooming her from day one.
I never liked how Zero’s issues were pushed aside for the sake of the love triangle. He never truly healed and the story constantly bombards him with even more tragedy 😢
Also, I just felt like this story would’ve been better if it was less romantic and focused on the plot of Vampires vs. Hunters vs. Purebloods.
This! I only pushed myself to complete the manga because I needed to know if Zero found happiness. I still remember the heart-rending/heartaches I got all throughout because they just kept dumping more and MORE on him, and not giving any rest... Dude never caught a break and even if he got a fairly happy end, it still felt unsatisfying for the reasons you stated-he didn't get time to fully heal or *process* anything
@@springdemon.w.I 100% agree with everything you said!! Even thought the author had written zero' ending as a quiet and happy one with time he spent with Yuki as a couple; we never saw that!!! The author rushed/forced the ending and all we saw was zero suffering 😭 dude deserved a wholebstory just about him man
@@schae1298 He deserves his own manga-anime. I don't know what's running on the author's mind for illustrating such a perfectly beautiful slash well written character only to torture him nonstop in the entire story and make him constantly loss against the worst fictional character ever. To be honest, I only watched and read Vampire Knight for Zero alone. I almost dropped it but I stayed and endured all the pain coz I just wanted to know if Zero will receive his own happy ending. But it was still heartbreaking coz we all know he deserves better. For me, he carried the entire show. Well, he is the Vampire Knight, so, what else can I say?
@@kategarcia369 exactly! even though the author wants to argue that the three main characters were a vampire knight of their own, zero fits the role way more. The story should've been more about him smh, idk what Hino-sensei was thinking during that time.
@@springdemon.w. I was about to drop that manga when I was in highschool but I didn't because of Zero and I also want to know if he gain happiness in the end. I was dissatisfied because it feels like no matter what he does, he will just be more like a substitute for Yuuki when Kaname "died" at the end. Zero never healed up until the end. They literally push the role of a "Knight" to Zero no matter what happens.
The worst thing about Kaname sacificing himself was Yuki was pregnant with their child! Vampire pregnancies are like extremely painful and cause terrible hunger for blood. If I remember correctly, it lasts longer than a normal human pregnacy. So Kaname basically let Yuki to SUFFER BY HERSELF.
I ALSO NEED TO POINT OUT THE FACT THAT YOU DIDN'T GO OVER THAT KANAME BASICALLY LOCKED YUKI INSIDE THE KURAN MANOR AND REFUSED TO LET HER EVEN SEE HER FRIENDS. SHE WASN'T ALLOWED TO LEAVE! AND HE NEVER EXPLAINED TO HER WHAT HE WAS DOING AND WHY HE LITERALLY JUST LEAVES HER ALONE FOR GOD KNOWS HOW LONG AT A TIME.
Kaname is the worse
Also, Ai is Kaname and Yuki's daughter and Ren is Zero and Yuki's daughter. I SWEAR that Zero and Yuki had a son but apparently its a girl.
A normal vampire pregnancy is nine human years. For a vampire, that time might be a fleeting moment, but for a newly awakened vampire it must have been hard for Yuki.
Yes, when I read the manga years back Ren was a boy. Then all of a sudden I read it again recently and she’s a girl. 💀
Im here like what type of mandela effect is this? 😭
It was actually a translation mix up from what I remember because I read it as Ren being a boy too. only to find out a while later the No Yuki and Zero had a girl. So I was so confused and I read it while it was coming out and the news just shocked me lol
@@solaris5922 wait so the kids at 19:28 are both daughters? i thought the left was zero's son lol
@@tinalyzhen yes 😂
One thing: Ai is Kaname’s daughter, not Zero’s. The guy left Yuki pregnant when he gave up his heart. Zero just helped raise her, after he and Yuki hooked back up (once and for all). Ren, though, is 100% Zero’s daughter.
I hate to break it to you but the children were not only Zeros and Yukis but the dark haired girl was actually Kanames child....
And when the mangaka tries portraying Yuki (and Kaname's) parents being siblings and a romantic couple as cute... 🤮
??? Okay unless that is explicitly stated in the manga vampire knight memories, I do NOT believe that. Yuki is literally kanames sister so the fact that one of yukis kids looks like kaname dose not prove that it’s kanames child.
And Zero died saving a random child not faling to level E
@@pasteladream i think its stated in vampire knight memories
@@pasteladream unfortunately that kid was conceived in the original manga before kaname sacrificed himself. didn't show much, just them kissing in bed, but still 🤮

Honestly I think Vampire Knight fanfiction might be better than the actual anime and manga, but that’s my opinion.
Yeah because a lot of them are either, kaname x zero or zero x oc/reader. Because even fanfic writers mostly can't stand yuki 😂😂😂
I mean, that's true for a lot of series. Yeah, a lot of young and novice writers create fanfiction, but you also have plenty of people whose skills (in both writing _and_ plotting) is on par with, if not better than, many published writers.
The fanfics are aways better than the real things.
Absolutely. There's this fic series that will always be dear to my heart, it starts off as KanamexZeroxYuki throuple, then Yuki gets killed in part 2 and it's just Zero and Kaname trying to avenge her in 2 and 3. It rewrites Kaname as not related to Yuki and not an old fart, and Yuki as human, which fixes a surprising amount of issues, and Kaname is just so well written (still controlling af, but it's a character flaw for him to work on, not to ignore and romanticize) This fic series singlehandedly gaslit me into thinking Kaname was an amazingly written tragic mastermind with a f ton of trauma and not... what he's in canon... which I'm now aware of thanks to this vid refreshing the plot for me lmao
@@SquishyMain Uhh... Wouldn't say always?

Read the manga before the anime. The manga is beautifully drawn and I was so excited to read a new vampire manga when it first came out. But towards the climax and the big reveal I was so disappointed and questioning the mangaka’s decisions. I’ve read her pervious works and enjoyed them but this was a no for me.
you know i remember reading as kid one of her work but than few years later as i remember this story i am like what the f... did i read because its about a 7 year old with a 15 year old WHY
ohhh the art, the art was so beautiful. i barely remember the story and never finished the series but i loved the style of the manga so much i bought the official art book
Was it Meru Puri?? Because I also remember starting Vampire Knight for the art, and drooling at all the gorgeousness, and now that you mention something about a kid, it's coming back to me, and MP probably was my getaway drug to VK 🤭 ! I don't know what it says about me that I have no regrets 😅... As a teen, those were very exciting stories to read, and I still have fond memories of them (': !
But I also reallllly enjoyed Loveless, and it was all kinds of messed up so... I guess I just have no reading morals 😅
@@Monichanz I hate that Ik exactly which story you’re talking about. And how they end up together in the end when she’s like in her 20s and he’s freshly like 15 or 18.

It's like grooming with extra steps 💀
There is Vampire Knight Memories which tells all the things that happened from the "present" story to the "future" story. It is not linear, jumping from different moments but it is pretty good. The author realease a full volume once a year, we have already 8 volumes.
No clue if you will actually read this, but I want to see how you react to Diabolik Lovers now. That’s a whole other rabbit hole of vampires.
Ohhh yeah. I heard that show and it's vn is infamous for having some toxic and unlikable characters. I read some spoilers on TVtropes and yeah. Pretty f-ed up stuff.
@@Pooky1991 Yes, the games are completely f-ed up. Yet I don't really have a problem with it, since it is it's whole shtick. Not for everyone but if you don't mind some toxic shit thrown at you in Otome then the games are actually pretty fun, while the anime is.... well... Boring.
@@antithesentv305 I could never play that, Yui is such a wet blanket doormat while I'm a hot-blooded mess who'd want to punch all the boys in the face and be mad I can't make Yui do that. When I played Amnesia Memories that is by the same company, I hated Touma's Yandere route so much because I couldn't punch him for being an idiot like you can with Kent in his route and I think you can also punch Shinn in his route. Ikki was the only boyo I didn't wanna smack. Touma's route was the only one I had to use a guide to get the true ending of. The random sensual naked face touching in the shower scene was weird. Though I did like the bad end of being yeeted down a well in Touma's route, that was hilarious. Also irks me is once the Touma route Iffy's memories are restored she's like the most aggressive and forward version of the protagonist we see which makes being way more submissive than the other routes make no sense. Like she had confessed to him "I love you" before the start of the route which is when we assume direct control and he brushed it off as "Obviously, she just loves me as a friend." Then he gets jealous and yandere over her asking her co-worker for dating advise because the guy she likes, Touma, is a moron. Like the story should have been solved the instant we got her diary but no it has drag on longer so you can get into a bad end loop to punish you of you didn't play submissively which included the well ending and mentally breaking the protagonist then playing pretty princess dress up with her catatonic body aka the doll ending.
@@clarehidalgo Fun part is, that Touma is my favourite from Amnesia Memories exactly for the reason that he's such a creep. xD Yui in the Diabolik Lovers Games is such a bad main Character, that's a part I really do not like about the games because Yui frustrates you a lot.
Flashbacks, omg
Team Zero forever. I never liked Kaname, even before I knew that he is Yuki's brother.
Honestly, what I loved about Vampire Knight was everyone but Yuki and Kaname. Zero deserved better and I loved all the other night class students. As a child I brushed over a lot of the more... family related issues in both the anime and manga but man. Revisiting it as an adult this would have worked great as a horror manga.
Fr, the night class characters were so interesting!! I wish we got more of them
Yes!! They are the ones I am watching the show for
unfortunately i hated kaname in both anime and manga the moment he was introduced by yuki in her 16 yr old self, he just gave off creeper vibes. HE ALSO GOT HER PREGNANT AT 17 YEARS OLD AND LEFT HER ALONE TO DEAL WITH THE PREGNANCY. And yes, kaname IS a groomer, even IF her parents decided to wed each other, but kaname had his memories as the progenitor even back then, and he fell in love with a baby fresh out of the womb??? the fact he also never respects yuki's wishes and that he's VERY controlling before he left and did his own thing was a major red flag.
you actually glossed over this fact, but kaname was the one who opened shizuka's cage and let her out, so that makes him complicit to zero's family's murder, but even this plan was really questionable too bc how was he supposed to know that shizuka would spare the kids?
tbh i'm not sure if the author had a concrete idea of the storyline after rido was killed bc it felt like a lot of the plot points and the characters you mentioned earlier, didn't feel very fleshed out. I also feel like the other side characters couldve also participated a lot more to the story, but since the mangaka really wanted to focus both on the love triangle and plot, they felt very left out. I think the mangaka tried to balance the love triangle and plot out, but it ended up becoming a huge mess if you try to concentrate on both, kinda like how kaname's character was supposed to be both a final boss villain type and the sexy dark, brooding, love interest, when he fell on both and becoming a grooming, manipulating gaslighter... the humans and the hunter association also got kicked to the curb for the story too, which is a shame bc i felt like they couldve contributed more...
edit: kaname is like, 10,000 yrs old, yuki's parents are 3000 years old, and are fully blood related siblings, take this knowledge as you will...
considering vampire life span he basically impregnated literal child (yukis parents at least couple centuries old by the time they have a child). like god damn he did die and leave mostly untrained teen mom as ruler, but if he planned to live its text book manipulator/groomer tactic of tying woman to himself.
The manga got cancelled and so she had to wrap everything up. She was also still really learning as a mangaka.
When Kaname became a child, he also locked his memories away. So for his early childhood, he thought he was the actual child of Juri and Haruka. Eventually his memories slowly came back to him.
Another reason why I don't like Kaname, is because he was the one who released Shizuka Hio from her cage. He knew she would go after the Kiryuus, since they killed her lover. He intentionally did it, because he knew one of the twins would be spared. He planned all of this the moment he first saw Zero and Ichiru years ago with Takuma, whom even mention that's where Kaname's plans first began. Kaname knew about the twin curse, and he wanted to use that to create an weapon to kill all Purebloods by using one of the twins that survive. Which is why he let out Shizuka, because he knew she would spare one of the twins, and turned them into a vampire as revenge. He wanted them to have deep hatred of vampires, so they can later grow up into a strong vampire hunter, and become the very weapon he wants. Kaname literally planned all of the b.s. Zero went through.
Not to mention that Kaname also torments Zero after the latter lives with Kaien and Yuki, due mainly of his jealousy of Yuki's affection towards Zero, and further deepen Zero's hatred for purebloods.
If I remember right, the reason why the progenitor became a baby is because Rido sacrificed Haruka and Juuri's actual baby son to bring him back.
The story made light of it at first; apparently Rido was visiting his little brother and sister (who, totally-not-spoiler alert, were married to each other) and holding the baby, who peed on him. Rido laughed it off and brought the baby out of the room, but instead of changing his diaper like Haruka and Juuri thought he would, Rido kills said baby to try and resurrect the progenitor (iirc it's implied that Rido chose to kill the baby in a fit of jealousy that Juuri chose Haruka instead of him - y'know, in case you needed a reminder that Rido was evil). Of course, the energy in the body of a baby is nowhere near enough to bring the progenitor back to full strength, so he has to regress to the form of a baby.
By the time Haruka goes looking for Rido, he's gone, and in the progenitor's tomb is a bloodied swaddling cloth and a baby. Somehow, Haruka puts the pieces together, spends a moment mourning his son, then picks up the now-infant progenitor to raise as his own. Of course, the progenitor knows who he is, but is content to live as Haruka's son for the sake of protecting Yuuki -whom the manga implies resembles the female progenitor who sacrificed herself to create the vampire hunters and their mother metal- . But when Rido attacks their family and Haruka goes out to defend them, Kaname tries to stop him, and Haruka's last words to him are "Thank you for living as my son all this time", revealing that he knew Kaname was the progenitor and not his real son.
-Come to think of it, Yuuki's resemblance to the female progenitor also explains why Kaname throws his heart into the mother metal instead of letting her do it - he didn't want to lose her all over again, and it was a way for him to do what he originally intended to do anyway.- _Correction: Molly in the replies pointed out that Yuuki does not resemble the female progenitor at all; it makes more sense that Kaname doesn't want to lose Yuuki the way he lost the female progenitor._
Of course, Kaname is still fucked up, we just have a thorough understanding of why he is the way he is now.
Thank you for making these videos, btw - Vampire Knight is one of those things I never really forgot, but it's faded from my conscious memory and both your videos brought it all back. I was a big fan of the series - to me at the time, it was Twilight but better - and followed the manga until when Yuuki took away Zero's memories of her before eventually losing interest. It's a shame that Akatsuki and Ruka didn't get any spotlight in this video - though it is a side story, it goes a little further to show just how fucked-up Kaname is (not that the story needs it or anything) and it turned Akatsuki from a background character to, IMHO, the second best boi after Zero.
Actually, if you're so inclined, I'd love to see a video rating the various little side stories interspersed throughout the manga, because the Ruka-Akatsuki one is genuinely heartwarming, and there are a couple involving Zero and Ichiru that are pretty funny from what I recall.
Yuuki doesn't even look like that white-haired girl. Kaname loved Yuuki and his love for her has nothing to do with that woman. Kaname erased memory, but remembered everything when he became a teenager. But he was never satisfied with this life because he blamed himself for the death of the baby.
Yes that correct Rido kidnapped Yuki's real brother, who was also named Kaname, when he was a baby. And sacrificed him to resurrect Kaname the ancestor. Unpopular opinion but I always felt Kaname was a victim in all this. Because if Rido had never kidnapped him, the events in the story would have never taken place.
Thank you for explaining it so well! I feel like VK gets so much shade. I’m not saying it’s perfect and to dismiss many of its flaws but it has it’s good points if you’re willing to overlook some of the logic and poor writing/character design.
@kpettaway18 Haruka and Juuri's son Kaname was definitely a victim in all this - he was an innocent baby who died for no good reason. Kaname the ancestor, on the other hand, not so much, and even if he was a victim, he's a good example of how you can be a victim but still be a bad person. He had good intentions, i.e. to protect Yuuki, that led him to hurting almost everyone around him, including Yuuki herself.
@Molly yeah my bad, I don't know why I thought she resembled the female progenitor. Likely it was just Kaname feeling a strong urge to protect Yuuki and not wanting to lose her to self-sacrifice the way he lost the female progenitor.
So happy you talk about this series. Vampire Knight might not be the most splendid series and has weird things going on sometimes, but it was still a big part of my teen years. I prefer the manga but that's mainly because I like Matsuri Hino-sans art a lot. Maybe you'd be interested in her previous work, Merupuri, too.
Greetings from Germany! :D
I also recommend Captive Hearts
Maybe you already said this but Kaname was killing the pure bloods because the ancestor metal was dying and because it was dying the vampire hunters wouldn't have weapons to kill pure bloods with. The reason why he went after pure bloods and not just all the vampires was because they can turn people into vampires, live forever, and they can only be killed by anti-vampire weapons or another vampire. Kaname was researching how to transform vampires into humans before this probably hoping that he could make the antidote before the metal died but he was unsuccessful. Also I think only progenitor hearts can make the metal so when Kaname threw his heart into the furnace he knew that this was the last time the vampire hunters would have more metal. So, his murder spree was just to do some cleaning up for the vampire hunters who would have metal for another thousand or so years and to stunt the vampire population until an antidote was made. I think the manga goes over his agenda during his progenitor life. Maybe this made sense maybe it didn't. This is just some of the junk I have in my brain about this show.
He was also looking for a meaningful way to die. I see his actions as him self destructing.
@@kellharris2491 I agree with that as well
Honestly the funniest thing is the clear "Well they're not actually that closely related" attempt at sidestepping the incest issue (which is true - Yuki probably isn't any closer related to Kaname than she'd be to any random vampire or even human considering the time gap between when he was first around and when she was born). Which is utterly ruined by the fact that he was basically raised as her brother.
yeah, but, get this. She was also raised together with Zero. No matter how you spin it, every romance she has has incestuous elements at least in spirit, if not in blood. That's why I dislike both relationships lmao

Zero came to live with Yuki when he was 11.
Zero almost immediately started to develop feeling for Yuki because she was nice and trying to help him through his trauma.
Also Zero’s trauma come from losing his actual family so he was always super sensitive about replacing them.
Hint why he alway denied Cross a fatherly connection.
So Zero never thought of Yuki as a sister or Cross as his family.
If your logic was to be upheld that would mean childhood friends, kids from group homes or early childhood boarding schools could never grow up and form a connection.

So two things. The author had to wrap up the manga fast because it was cancelled. But then because of outcry she was latter able to add some things to fill in the gaps.
Next Kaname was suicidal most of the story. He never wanted to be reawakened. So he latched onto Yuki and became obsessed with her. When he realized he couldn't keep her in a little box anymore because she started to defy him, he just became self destructive. He was looking for a 'meaningful' way to die.
This is part of why she took so long to leave him. He threatened to kill himself if she left him. He half wanted to die suicide by cop style.
One of Yuki's kids was actually Kaname's. Their half-sisters. Yeah, that was a thing tht happened.
Watch human kaname look at his kid and be all like "oh you remind me of Yuki 😍"
Yuki's daughter is also Kaname's daughter. They had that night of love after all.
The one thing the manga has going for it at least is the art. It's super well done and the drawings are gorgeous, peak shoujo in my opinion
So Kaname was awoken by Rido, turned into a kid because his cells weren't strong enough, raised Yuki and pretends he was her brother? Not only this jerk lies to the girl he love BUT he's also way older than her; making their relation disgusting. I'm so glad i never read the manga, this story is crazy 😳
I’m pretty sure the parents were so chill with it cuase Rido sacrificed their first born body to awaken Kaname. So they were like “lol, convenient child”
@@leeminhyung167 they still mourned their original baby (who was named Kaname), they just kinda accepted what had happened, bc they (well at least Haruka, anyway) realised The Progenitor was revived using their Kaname so they raised him as if he were still their child
When Kaname became a child, he also locked his memories away. So for his early childhood, he thought he was the actual child of Juri and Haruka. Eventually his memories slowly came back to him.
The thing is I think Kaname just wanted to sleep. So when he was awakened by Rido, not only was he pissed off, but he had no reason to live.
Yuki became his reason to exist afterwards. So if you look at his actions as “I will do anything for Yuki”, it sort of makes more sense. Kill all the purebloods, give his heart, turn the vampires to human, all so Yuki could live a better life. It’s like a mess up love of “What I’m doing is what I think is right for you, even if it hurts you along the way”
Yeah. I mean he wanted to be dead long ago and they brought him back. He basically just latches on to yuki. He is toxic. But it makes total sense why he is the way he is. Still don't like him.
@kayleejazz1669 Considering that sister marriages where common for vampires I think that's part of why he felt entitled to control yuki. I mean he was her fiance/head of the household.
This is the real danger of incest because the control is multifacited. The person isn't just a spouse they are also the blood family. There is no escape for the victim in this way....While I dislike him as a person I did think that as a character he made for great drama.
I remember when first hearing the soundtracks I was soo floored with the emotions☺️ As a kid I used to play the cello, so hearing it in the first anime I ever watched - it was like magick for the much younger me 🤭💗
Wakeshima Kanon and her Still Doll are just a mood🖤
I'm pretty sure VK was originally published not as volumes, but in a monthly shoujo compilation (might have been LaLa?). Mangas published in that way get a lot of pressure to pivot stories in response to reader feedback (a lot of the monthly ones have polls about which manga is the reader's fave, and that data is used to drop artist teams), so I wonder if that explains some of the craziness and sudden character turns. I'd love to see you do MeruPuri, it's one I loved growing up but looking back as an adult I was like ".....this is super weird, actually" lol. It's also much shorter and less cringey than VK, but it does have its own surprise creepy thing~ lol Also she named the main character in that one "Aram" after "alarm" so lollll
3:35 : Hi, French person here! And actually, I was surprised when you said (in the other Vampire Knight video) that you were watching it dubbed in English - not at all a negative comment, it's just that in France, most people (from what I know) watch anime in Japanese and subbed in French (or sometimes English, I guess), so I was surprised
A funny difference between USA & France
Same in Poland. We had few shows dubbed in Polish that were shown on Jetix (Part of Naruto, Digimon, Pokemon), but most of the anime that we watched was in Japanese with Polish or English subs.
I never like kaname much but in the manga i was so frusterated because the dude basically stopped yuki from makig other friends. they tried to frame it as him protecting her from people who might wantto use her...but yuki is so likable i'm pretty sure she would have won them over anyway...especially considering yori's dad wanted her to make friends with yuki for connections. it felt like zero lowkey calling out kaname about it a bit as well as yori standing some of herground was the only reason she was able to be yuki'sfriend...whih makes the grooming aspect feel even stronger for kaname...like if yuki had been able to get over more of her trauma and built more of a life as a human...i kindof wonder how yuki would have felt afterwards with it being ripped away by kaname.
I kept feelig like as much as zero had complicated feelings for yuki and tried the whol'i'll kill you at some point thing' it felt like zero was doing that as a way to make Yuki not worry about him...and a way to reassure yuki since she was kindof scared about the 'living forever' thing if she thought that zero might kill her at somepont then she could be sure it wasnt forever...part of why she felt stuck on kaname felt like it was because without him she'd be alone.
something i noticed was an odd resembulance between zero and the lady vampire in the forge that i kindof wish was addressed more...
my inner rage when it turned out kaname shipped yuki and zero the whle time but was jealous...
i desperate wished the amnesiac zero arc lasted longer.
also glad you noticed what was the point of sarah and her killing vampires if thats what kaname's goal was anyway or even zero having a freind inthat second appentice.
it took a little too long o adress the kaname isn't really her brother thing but still has that uncofmortable was still raised as her brother and treated her like a sister as far as she remembered.
honestly..i kindof wish they pointed that maybe alot of the going insane thing could have been part of all the incest to keep power thing...just some side affects being noticed would have been nice.
though still holding a grudge against kaname for lowkey planning zero's family's death.
you are right that seeing it as a shakspearen tradegedy does help with thingsrather than just a romance.
being older is nice that i can put more names and understanding in why certain things freaked me out though.
One thing I'd like to point out about Kaito is that he first appeared in a side story in the light novel (surprisingly in my country the comic company did released an English translation, a very rare move from what I can tell. I remember using my hard-earned savings to purchase a copy because I was a huge fan of the series back then before the company closed down hehe) and he was another student of Toga's that was added into the backstory retroactively regarding Zero's school nurse turning into Level E. Which also reveals that the school nurse was Toga's fiance, or something along those lines, at one point, which was never mentioned in the actual manga itself. But yeah, even with the information obtained from the light novel, his addition into the main plot was...barely serviceable to put it nicely. Not like his addition made any degree of substantial changes to the plot and he could just be removed from the series without changing much of the pacing IMO.
But yeah, Team Zero all the way. Never understood the appeal of Kaname since Day 1, and not now too and you explained very well why in your previous video. Funnily enough, your Vampire Knight videos that has been appearing on my algorithm lately has relieved a lot of my memories growing up as a teenager following the series when it was still in publication. Vampire Knight was one of my first manga/anime series that I was deeply invested in and was my gateway to better manga as I grow older. How I miss those days, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you for review, I am so happy someone else remembers this anime and manga. I watched in times of my first school love and it is interesting experience to look back
I've been waiting for decades for someone to ask to me to write my thesis on Kaname. I'll get started now.
XD
I’ll read it!
I love zero for a very fangirly reason.
His Japanese voice actor is the same guy who did Riku in Kingdom Hearts, Gourmet in Tokyo Ghoul, and Light from Death Note.
Yes light the most extra man in anime history
3 childhood shows/games of mine, mamoru rocks
I believe it’s in Vampire Knight Memories but it explains a lot of the missing pieces before Yuki resurrects Kaname which some what satisfied me. My main goal was to learn how Zero actually died but be warned because there is more weird relationships so it doesn’t stop with Kaname and Zero. I really love Hanabusa’s relationship with Yori and how Zero and Yuki finally get to focus on each other and their relationship. It doesn’t delve too much into it however but we do get clarity on some things between them.
Man, I’m just loving that skull/flower skateboard behind you.
never actually seen the manga but the anime was thoroughly traumatizing
10:40 Okay. So this part…Okay
So this Kaname that we see isn’t her biological brother, it’s her ancestor. Yuki’s brother, also Kaname, was a sacrifice to awaken the Progenitor (our Kaname). If I remember right, whomever awakens the vampire via blood or sacrifices, regardless of relation or whatever, the one who was awaken will serve that person.
This also happened in Hellsing where Lady Hellsing’s blood awoken Alucard and he served her.
11:12 He felt guilty because he didn’t want to wake up. When he did, he was starving, went for the closest thing (the baby AND Rido), felt bad and regressed to live the life the baby would’ve had. Juri and Haruka knew and went along.
I rarely see reviews for vampire knight, good video!
I feel if you think about Serah in how the real world works, you can justify her existence. Someone can make so much progress yet still fall short, and their entire dream, life, and meaning, shatters in unceremonious silence.
Her efforts meaning nothing in the end is exactly what justifies her existence.
She was never meant to be more than someone with her ideals who disappointingly got herself killed far too soon.
It's unulfilling to the reader because it's unfulfilling to the character. It's supposed to be disappointing because it is. Life doesn't always let someone see the fruits of their labor if any at all.
If that makes sense?
Ngl I was pleasantly surprised how more fleshed out the manga is and Yuki being more badass in the manga is a plus
19:27 The oldest (dark hair) is Kaname's daughter and the youngest (light hair) is Zero's daughter. They're half sisters.
As a teenager I LOVED Zero and Yuki being together but I also had the biggest crush on Kaname and was hoping he would turn out to be good. It turns out he is tortured too, both he and Zero. The ending did get a little weird. I read the manga and didnt get that at all so...yea the way it was written at the end was weird. SO good thou! LOTS of development from book 1 to the end.
I never got too far into the anime or manga so I never knew about Kaname/Yuki situation. I just remember when the manga ended it was talked about on tumblr and I was just like “cool” 😅
One scene in both the manga and anime that scarred me for life is the assault on Yuki’s previous roommate by Kaname. He snuck into their room and bit the roommate without permission turning her into a vampire and she somehow loves him despite him just treating her like trash. I hate it and she deserves better.
I think you're remembering that wrong. He bit his own vampire classmate Ruka instead of Yukj because he knew it would turn her. He was super shitty to Ruka too but she basically just says yeah use me don't feed on that child.
@@chasittyrobinson8643 yeah that is what I meant. I still think she deserved better,
What I like about the manga is there are side stories and comic relief atleast for first few chapters unlike in anime, the story was told in all seriousness and melancholy. But at the same time, the painful part of the story in the anime is even more painful in the manga. Of course its still as messy as the anime coz of that incest plot twist. But overall, I LOVE THE ART STYLE IN THE MANGA AND I LIKE THE OPENING AND ENDING SONG IN THE ANIME. VK was my first manga/anime, and it holds a special place in my heart despite of how messed up it was. Btw, FOREVER TEAM ZERO! 💗 HE DESERVES BETTER! he carried the entire show atleast for me.
shout out back too you! I am from Germany and stumbled upon your vapire knight anime video and i really enjoyed it! So i am double happy that the youtube gods made you pop back up on my timeline! :)
I love when you post these style of videos, i only watch them when i clean and it makes me want to clean more
Lets also remember that only one of yuki’s children was zero’s the other was kaneme’s
Does anyone remember Zeros' horse? 😂 Man, was I surprised by what I heard about the horse.
What?
@@FriendlyGhost-rf7tq the white horse Lily I guess?? I don't know if that horse was in the manga much but did appear in the anime. Yeah.
@Friendly Ghost I heard that his horse has a thing for Zero.
That horse was a hater to everyone but Zero. The first Zero fan girl.
@@window_pane2x2 ah i know that i thot ther was some thing more
"Now that I'm older and I'm not part of that age demographic, it's really weird now." 😆
I really hope you do a video on Vampire Knight Memories, cause I think they are the best version of these characters.
I will say I got into this anime/manga while I was writing a research paper in college about the history of the Vampire myth and its effect on pop culture throughout the world so I am really enjoying your take on this series.
As a teenager that time, I don't know why this serial got a hype. I just read some first chapters and automatically dropped it, because I think 'what a typical diabolical love story'... 😮😮😮
I'd love to see you do this with Soul Eater!!! That was my hyper-fixaction in middle school!!
I have a semi-joke theory about Kaname /all the ""Old"" pure blood.
What if when you spend all that time in a coffin or living out a life where you technically drink the blood of your own kind, your brain begins to well ""die"" or to ""rot"" that would explain how a LOT of Kaname, for exemple, action make little to no sense, or that his motives shifts seamingly very quickly like when you have some old age dementia? It's just a thought I had for the longest time after being a fan of this series.
BUT, that would, I think, make sense considering the all nessecity of "being cured" from vampirism ?
Anyway, loved your videos and have a nice day!❤😊
okay im so confused 😭 so Yuki essentially "deletes" vampires and vampirism out of the world 1,000 years after Kaname dies, but also way after Zero passes away. so they're literally both dead, but what is the timeline for when the kids are born?
like im assuming the kids are human since vampires aren't existing anymore. but wouldn't they be *impossibly* old by the time Kaname is "revived" (when Yuki gives him her life)? so when and how were these kids born
@@kx2174 huh i see... so the kids are basically immortal humans? or do they still have vampire traits 😅
Not related to the video, but I love your cadence.. when you talk. Also, I was always team Zero from the start and even when I didn't finish the manga and anime. Kaname... can just... he's just a boat load of 'NO' this was due to spoilers, but I was younger back then and it screamed for me to turn back and never return. Great video!
I’ve been checking your content since the Ouran High School video. Much love from Finland!
Yuki had a baby with both Kaname and Zero… in that order too
Noticed that tiny detail missing lol
Its so sad makes Kiryu the rebound guy and he deserves better
3:41 Hi
I discovered Vampire Knight when I was 12, I'm 20 now and I still love the manga (not the anime though). It has a lot of problems and I *always* hated Kaname, he made me so uncomfortable every time I saw him even before knowing his past with Yuki. But I really like the tragedy of the story and its melancholic atmosphere.
And of course I really like Zero too. I think I read it just for him actually.
When I was 12 painted this awful drawing of Zero on my bedroom door and we ended up having to sell the house when it was still there 💀
Woah was just watching your original VK video XD perfect timing
Hello, I'm from Brazil, at that time we always watched anime in Japanese, because of fans who created fansub blogs and made anime available online or for download. Those who arrived in the country came in English (apparently it was difficult to translate directly from Japanese, or maybe they didn't have money for copyrights, who knows, but now we have anime direct to Netflix and dubbed) went to the dubbing studios to be dubbed in Portuguese and shown on TV. They were usually edited versions, with little or no blood, but it took a long time to watch new anime or new seasons, so most of the work was done by fansubs, which we always used to watch new things. We watched it dubbed because we liked our Brazilian voice actors, but most of the time we had already seen it online in Japanese.
UA-cam by chance recommended your video about Vampire Knight to me, I was watching a gameplay about Phasmophobia and your video was there, the three videos brought me a huge nostalgia for that time when those of us who watched anime or read manga online were a small part of that great community it is today. Thanks.
Kaname wanted to put a end on vampires from what I remember.
Because in his time when pure bloods as him appeared they were making a huge mass, turning humans in to level E as some cannon fodder to try get some advantage on each other. Kaname and the girl from that time wanted to stop the pure blood, but the only thing that worked to kill a pure blood is another one.
She used herself to make humans have a chance by creating the Hunters and being material for their weapons.
Kaname tried to change Vampire societ changing the system but got tired of all this and went sleep forever. Then Rido brought him back to life. He was extremely thirsty/hungry so to not kill everyone around he turned himself in to a baby.
Yuuki parents found him, knew he was not their baby Kaname(yeah they have same name) but accepted him. As a kid he did not had all his memories so he was happy with that life until Rido returned to kill everyone and get Yuuki. He treied to kill Rido but could not because Rido was the one who woken him, so he just injured him a lot.
At this point he had a lot of his memories back, especialy after he saw the Kiryuu twins.
He tried to fix some things to make a better place for Yuuki, but he saw it would not works because other pure bloods were chalaging him. He never liked vampires too much(especialy pure bloods) he just got fed up with their shit personality and instead of trying to make a peacefull deal his intention was kill all pure bloods and turn Yuuki human again.
Because remember the concil failed.(vampires became corrupt and starte to want to use pure bloods for their own desires) And it was an atemp to change vampire society.
So he went for a more definitive deal this time. Killing all pure bloods would leave the vampires without their strongest protection and at same time would end forever the problem of turning humans in to vampires. Without pure bloods around the Hunters would be able to deal with noble vampires and the lesser ones.
His desire to end the vampires came before he met Yuuki, but as he met her he gave vampires a chance again making that houseplay school. Because she was a nice person he had some hope, however in the end he went back to do what he wanted to do.
My guess is just because of Yuuki(and maybe his closest frinds Hanabusa, Ruka, Kaen...) he did not really went into full killing spree mode like really he wanted in the end.
It is kinda funny how Zero who would say all the time how he hated vampires and wanted them all dead, but in the end was able to love one and learned how some were not that bad accepting they better.
But it was Kaname in the end who truly wanted all vampires dead, because he was tired of all their shit. He went from trying to help vampires change their attitudes to just kill them.
If Kaname had his way to killing all pure bloods with time the vampire genes would dilute in to humans and they would go extinct with time, because nobles do not live forever like pure bloods.
Kaname vs Sara was a bit sad because everyone wanted a nice fight.
But after sometime I think it was never meant to be a great fight because Kaname was really old and could beat to death every modern pure blood. He was not being hold back by Rido anymore.
but still would be nice se him get chalenged by someone.
About Kaname again, it is kida a joke see he survived everyone by the end. I have not finshed Memories but if he for some reason become vampire again he would be alone in a world where everyone dies. So he may in the end go sleep forever like he tried in first place or he die as a human and it maybe really be his final death.
Okay I watched your part 1 and part 2 back to back and I’m so glad you ended up reading the manga! The B/C rating is definitely understandable lol
I have a genuine desire to share why I appreciate the character of Kaname so much. However, to fully explain the reasons behind this attachment, I am aware that I will need to delve deeper into the subject.
I also don't know if anyone would be genuinely interested in the perspective of a Kaname fan. 😊
Kaname is a character who has always intrigued me, mainly because of his complexity and nuance. I don't blindly glorify him because he has his imperfections and dark sides, but it's precisely this complexity that makes him fascinating in my eyes.
It's challenging to summarize in a few sentences why Kaname attracts me so much because every facet of his personality, his history, and his actions deserves an in-depth exploration.
So, if you are truly interested in my opinion, I would be willing to write it, but it might be quite long 😂.
Agreed, Kaname is such an interesting character the more you understand his past the more you understand his current actions. He easily my favorite character and how contradictory of a character which he acknowledges himself.
He’s a sad character and his life is so complex that most people don’t understand and so long that even he doesn’t know who he is anymore. Throughout the story he his trying to deal with his own insanity and warped emotions that he recognized and tries his best not to act upon them. His duality and sadness is the thing that makes him such an interesting character. The more I understand his past the more his actions in the current story make since. He wants a world where human can live in safety and no more innocent lives will be taken. He knows that can’t happen with the pure blood vampire powers still going. But a part of him still wants to live but he doesn’t know how to. As yuki says he can only live by sacrificing himself for someone else. Which makes since because his whole life was taken from him. He doesn’t remember his human life or his parents. He lived so long he’s emotionless so it’s easier for him to live for someone else since he has no being of himself to live for. It so sad and he tries his best but obviously fails a lot of the time. But yuki was the only person who he could love and to start understanding what life is again.
I would love to hear what else you think of his character!
@@lunagrace2872 Absolutely, I completely share your point of view. It is undeniable that Kaname is going through an existential crisis that constitutes the very essence of his story. His rejection of his vampire state and his quest for "his reason to live," symbolized by Yuki, as well as his unwavering commitment to protect her at all costs, are essential pillars of his character.
Kaname's condition as a Pureblood vampire reflects an existence marked by deep suffering and unfathomable loneliness, which is also representative of all Pureblood vampires showed in the series. Some of them, like Rido and Sara, succumb to madness and power in an attempt to find meaning in their existence, while others sink into depression due to their long lives and desire for death.
Kaname and the Kuran couple, Juri and Haruka, share the conviction that true happiness lies in a carefree existence as a human, far removed from their Pureblood vampire status. This perspective contrasts with characters like Sara, the Senate, Rido, and Shizuka, who reveal the darker aspects of the Pureblood vampire life.
Despite his benevolent actions towards Yuki, Kaname carries an overwhelming burden, remaining a deeply broken character in the complex universe of Vampire Knight. His life is an uninterrupted succession of tragedies and sacrifices, where he tirelessly devotes his energy to protecting Yuki, the person he cherishes above all else. This existence can be described as a relentless struggle to achieve the ultimate goal: ensuring Yuki's safety, regardless of the cost, even if it involves trampling his own morality, manipulating, lying, and killing. Because deep down, he is not a bad person but rather someone who is broken, attempting to preserve the little happiness he still has.
The plot of Vampire Knight revolves around Kaname's complex plan to protect Yuki and eliminate threats such as Rido and the Pureblood Senate. At the heart of this strategy lies Zero, the "vampire knight," a vampire hunter bearing the curse of the twins. Everything he does is guided by the creation of the ultimate weapon to eliminate Rido, and later, the other Purebloods. The irony here is that it's not power or hatred that drives him; instead, it's love.
This story can be compared to a Greek tragedy, where fate seems to be relentless towards Kaname. The fundamental plot of Vampire Knight can be summarized as Kaname's desperate quest to preserve his happiness, embodied by Yuki.
Kaname's psyche is shaped by an inner duality: on one side, a desire to die stemming from the atrocities he endured as a vampire and the horrors he commits, and on the other, an immeasurable passion for Yuki. This duality guides his actions and drives him to create a safe future for her by eliminating potential threats.
The relationship between Kaname and Yuki is tragic too because, despite their deep love, insurmountable obstacles stand between them. Kaname has always sought to protect her at all costs, but this excessive protection has created a toxic dynamic in their relationship, keeping them in unequal roles. Yuki, on her part, has experienced complex feelings towards Kaname, mixing love, a desire to reunite with Zero, and guilt.
When Kaname becomes aware of the growing distance between them, he decides to become the antagonist to ensure Yuki's safe future as a human. This painful decision is his way of protecting her, even though he can never truly make Yuki happy as a Pureblood vampire.
The disparity in their experiences and sufferings has always been an insurmountable obstacle to their mutual salvation. Kaname has never managed to fully open up to Yuki, fearing to tarnish her innocence by revealing the dark reality of his vampire condition. Kaname did not wish to taint Yuki's happiness with his suffering, also aiming to preserve Yuki from the sad life that is the fate of the Purebloods.
The current Yuki in Vampire Knight Memories, having embraced the burden of a Pureblood's life, might have been able to save him. She walked in Kaname's footsteps and understood the sacrifices he made. This is why Yuki eternally feels guilt towards Kaname, believing that she couldn't save him. This is also why, in the end, Yuki offers him the same moment of happiness she experienced thanks to him: humanity, the carefree life of a mortal, free from blood and solitude.
Yuki deeply loves Kaname and aspires to save him in return. She understands his sacrifices and does not hold them against him. This duality of affection is at the heart of the tragedy because despite their sincere love, they prove to be incompatible for each other's well-being. This final phase of their story marks the maturity of their relationship, with Yuki seeking to offer Kaname the redemption he deserves.
Ultimately, Vampire Knight explores the complexities of human relationships even in a supernatural world, and Kaname Kuran remains an iconic and unforgettable figure in this universe.
And personally, he has touched me deeply because even though he had to commit terrible acts like playing with Zero's entire destiny to serve his plans, one cannot help but be moved by such a miserable character.
Many characters in the world of Vampire Knight are touching, and I appreciate them, such as Shizuka, Sara, Aido, Ruka, Zero, Takuma, and many others. However, it is Kaname who, in my opinion, elicits the most sympathy in this story. His profound suffering, sacrifices, and the complexity of his emotions make him an exceptionally poignant character.
It has been a pleasure to share my thoughts and engage in this discussion 😊. It's heartwarming to connect with fellow fans of Kaname, as he is often underrated and misunderstood.
I'm sorry for the wall of text ! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 When I like something, I tend to elaborate on the subject. 😄😅
Finally, the world knows that the only right answer is Team Zero. My childhood memories can now rest in peace about this fever dream story. Love the vid btw
Not a thesis length comment but following and complying by saying hi from mexico and i love your channel
I just want to say, I barely have any memories of this show lol but when I watched your first video on the show, I remembered certain emotions I had when I read some of the manga. All I can remember is, I was ALWAYS a Team Zero lol I can't remember any of the storyline or even the main character, but I definitely remember having a huge crush on Zero when I was a teen reading the manga lol
If you think about it, If Yuki was taken out of the picture it would have made the plot alot more interesting and cool. Kaname could have been the anti hero and sacrificed himself. I liked the idea of the hunter weapons coming from a progenitors heart and how Kaname was working in the shadows you could say. Kiryu being the hunter and the only one who could actually fight and fought Kaname and Sarah. Yuki did absolutley added nothing besides being a figure head in which Cross could have been or any other charcter such as those side characters introduced.
Lastly the mangas Art is amazing! When i was a kid Supernatural series influenced me heavily so I prefer Hunters more then Vampires Werewolves Witches tropes nah I wanted to be a hunter! Lol Thats why Kiryu was super cool to me and well he was the healtier character of the 3, yuki being plane usless and i dont need to talk about Kaname considering Kiryu was the one had a more f up traumatic past. The reason I really liked the series though was for the art, has that gothic vibe and similar to Death Notes that drew me in. It was a nice change from reading shounen and little bit more "action" in it when it was classified as romance Shoujo Beats. I do enjoy me some romance manga back in the day and having a bit of shounen in them was just awesome to me alas I stopped reading once Yuuki was converted into a vampire and the whole Hes my brother! Cause it just made yuki from tolerable to damn annoying af especially how she treated Kiryu. After I heard the ending, poor Kiryu, yuki still didnt love him entierly and used him as a rebound since Kaname was MIA.
Early gang where you at

I never watched the anime, nor read the manga, I'm just here cause I like listening to you talk.
Definitely the one thing I really enjoyed from Vampire Knight was how Matsuri Hino's art improved. I originally started the series back when it debuted in Shojo Beat magazine all the way back when i was but a wee youngin' and it's certainly one of the biggest positive takeaways I've had after these years from the story. I did actually get the artbook for this series because I just wanted to really take in the level of detail her illustrations gained over the years and that's most certainly my favourite thing when seeing a series that went on for a long time is just how the art progresses. Even if the story did lose me at a point because I used to read it as it updated because I just wanted to know how it ended it really is something to just really take in on how much improved. If anything the art and designs and details were something to take in and enjoy if for that at least. It was an interesting ride of a story for sure. (Though I do laugh younger me kept up w/ the story nearing the end not for the main cast but for Takuma because I liked him the most haha)
I just finished your other VK vid i was going to rewatch but you have a new upload thank you!!
Just wondering if you will make a sequel to the Ninjago video? I know you are probably bombarded with this question after making the first and raking in our fanbase 😂, I understand you make content on so many more different shows and media, I just wanted to know tho, because I really enjoyed the first video. Keep up the great work! 👍
Belgium here! Hahah and i love your video's, and the fact you covered this show 😭i remember the moment i was done with this i was soooo confused, you can accpect that i looked up a lot but yh yk i got even more confused 💀
They use to play this ABC 3 in Australia (kinda of a kids/teen channel) it was my first ever anime, i use to rent it from the video shop on the weekends! I was so shocked when the brother sister trope happened in the anime, i hadn't read the manga 😂
From Malaysia and studying in New Zealand
been watching your videos for a while now keep up the good work 😁❤️
Yuki basically had kids with both guys if I recall learning that correctly?? Either way she basically got to be in some way with both guys she loved so, propers to her I guess?? Lolz
But Pureblood Vampires because they aren't human probably do the whole siblings being together thingy because of that reason kind of similar to royal families were years ago but still different because again not human so maybe different side effects or no side effects rather and instead just only kept their bloodline literally pure?? Whatever makes sense for that. It's still odd because family stuff in general but yeah.
These videos so far have been fun to watch.
I never actually got to the very end of the manga. I got caught by out of order scanlation pages right around the battle where the origin metal went wild. So glad it had a solid end
DEAR GOD, She's turning all the girls from the school into lesbian vampires!
3:31 had me irrationally mad, because I have always watched anime subbed. I absolutely hate dubbed anime because it was so shitty in the beginning. Dubbed anime has come along way now, but I still prefer subbed.
Man, I promise you, those two kids are smth in many ways that I will let you discover for yourself. I mean the children of Yuki/Zero and Yuki/Kaname.
I'm from Greece, me and my partner love your videos keep up the good work
I'm very happy this Vampire Knight series popped up in my recommended. One it was fun to revisit a series I really loved when I first read it. But also this host, I love the way the video is put together. Quite fun, I shall sub now.
Also I was team Zero the entire time ❤️🔥
French here ! Our dubbers are like... not doing a good job. x'D They are apparently improving in the recent years, but it's been too much time for me to back up from japanese to french.
Also, I think you're pretty cool, your videos are nice... and I LOVE your earrings !
Great, your previous video and this one is making me want to listen to the ost again.
It's so funny how I JUST WATCHED THE VIDEO TALKING ABOUT VAMPIRE KNIGHT ANIME and this videos came out! Perfect timing
I’ll never be able to see this anime as anything other than horrifying. I was 9 when I found the series. My parents who at the time didn’t know English that well, saw animation and was like “yeah must be for kids”. Then my like the stupid little fourth grader I was I went around RECOMMENDING IT TO OTHER KIDS BECAUSE I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT INCEST WAS YET!!
OH MY GOD THERE'S MORE. HECK YEA
Ok so in the last video I said that I wish we talked about how vampirism is usually a metaphor for something deeper. Sex and power usually. Vampire Knight by the end feels pointless because I have NO IDEA what the point of the story was. Was it about power and balance? Maybe but the author dances around it in favor of drama that wouldn't exist if characters just...talked to each other? I finished the story and I sat there going "....WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE TAKEAWAY FROM THAT?" It's obvious it was trying to be so much more than a love triangle. It was trying to be SOMETHING...I just have no idea what.
Shout out from Italy here! Love your content!
I am proud to say that I never liked kaname and would worry about the people that did, but I do understand why they would. Between hot stalker and hot emo boi I think I know where I'm going, proud of my younger self for looking at this show and instantly knowing something is wrong.
Same, I never like Kaname. He's obviously a red flag.
Hello from Ukraine! I've never seen this anime and probably never will 😅 but I know people my age were very into it:)
Here a lot of us were introduced to anime through fandub in russian, so I'd consider you lucky with a full damn professional dub in English 👀
Omg hiii I'm from that 40% to 30%😸 I watched the anime in Japanese and also read the manga since I was obsessed with it. So happy you decided to make a video about it :p
3:44 Hi, I'm from Argentina and love your videos.
Is the extra stuff in the English sub version? I assume most people would have watched that one, especially as the English dub is so bad
