Great video. I am a 100% newbie at this. When you start to actually perform the pancake, you stress the fact the we should keep our back straight as we go down and not round it up. You say that if I can't sit straight then I should elovait myself a bit. This is what I have done, but I can't seem to go down 3 inches with a straight back. Do you have any suggestions? I'm in this for the long term results. 😎 Thank you so much!

Finally, I achieved it!!! I started on April 2020, doing this routine 3 times per week. And finally I got it on September. After 6 months of consistency. It feels awesome.
That's how you do the pancake, slowly with approaches! I see a lot of people training splits just doing splits instead of opening their joints and stretching their muscles with less agressive moves. Aim small miss small.
After a hamstring tear and being able to practice it and the middle splits for a couple of months i have recoverd and iam touching my head again and also my calves fully touch the ground thanks to you and the bodyweight warrior 😀👍
Update! after 1,5 momths of doing this 2 times a week I managed to touch my elbows to the ground in front of me...!!!!! Inam a wooden block and never managed to achieve that before! Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!
Pancake is a difficult flexibility exercise and it does cause pain but it will lessen as you progress. It takes time though. I love how Gabo teaches to do this pose. Thanks Gabo!

I'm a bit older the stretch you call pancake we old timers call the center splits but it's the same thing. I have been doing regular splits and your pancake split for over 40 years. Keep it up bro.

Hey Gabo great stuff, I have been doing the splits for over 40 years with my Martial Arts. Nice to see another brother doing stretching also. Being able to do the splits is so beneficial to our fluidity of movement. Keeping your mind on the specific muscle you are stretching imagining the muscle elongating while you are stretching. Not forgetting to breathe while you stretch. Good luck on your channel.

After my 1st time I trained from your video last week I had my chest touched the floor with my back flat! I got a full pancake! It was pretty intense but in a right way. I’ll train from your other tutorials for front split and back flexibility. I can’t wait to see the results in the future.

Nice video, excited to see the results after I do this consistently! Till now I have been doing your hamstring flexibility routine and it has worked out great for me. I'm just goanna replace that with this now. Just a suggestion, while making videos on skills like this can you have someone who can't do these skills doing the progression or the drills that you are showing. I feel like that would explain better how far we are to push ourselves and also bring a little familiarity.
Yaaay!! Finally!! Touchdown!! Today was the day I finally achieved the full pancake, chest on the floor and all that :D Took me around 5 months and I did the routine once a week on average (some weeks I would do it twice and some weeks nothing ^^'). It's been a really fun journey, thanks team!
@@Anexis- When I started I could stay in the straddle positin on the floor comfortably with my back straight & I could touch the ground with my forearms but very close to my body, I couldn't go much forward with my forearms without bending my back. That was my starting point. In your case, if this doesn't feel comfortable yet, I would recommend starting with other hammstring routines the channel has that are a big more gentle. Start with those and that will allow you over time to not feel uncomfortable spreading your legs. And once you are comfortable in the straddle (either with or without support), then you can practice often this routine :)
@@sweetgirl693 yes, i think the key is to get a little bit of hamstring flexibility beforehand to manage this routine on a regular basis. Well im a typical human. As well as trying to go too fast, too soon and then we risk to injure ourselves (I almost injured myself with this routine and I completely stopped it for a month, thankfully no serious damaged was done and whatever it was, it fully recovered). So it's better to start from easier progressions and go slow but steady. It's what works best, but of course we have to fight the ego as Gabo says x) And no worries! Your English it's just fine! I can't judge anyways, as I'm Spanish xD (saying hello from the UK)

I will let you know how it goes progress wise. how many months of dedicated practice did it take you to get a pancake? I feel like it might take 6 months or so, but I'm gonna stick to it. also trying to get my side and front splits
