I'm SO glad I picked up one of these. Your video convinced me it was a good quality pistol. My first Llama IIIa was actually a 1:1 size cap gun made by a Spanish company called Edison Giocattoli. I bought my real IIIa at a gun show when I was 21. It's a bit long in the tooth now, but I love this platform, so it's great they brought this model back, with some modern enhancements! I'd love to see a .22lr version or conversion kit.

@@GBGuns there's definitely a few differences but from what I can tell the older models or at least mine is still a quality gun. Glad i came into its possession!
Early April 2019, After watching countless videos between the Llama & the Baby Rock, I went with the Llama. After all, both are about the same $$$, but the Llama offers 2 mags & a fiber optic front sight, I was sold! Got the gun Thursday, 4-4-19, went shooting it on Friday, 4-5-19, sent it to American Arsenal (factory repair facility) on Monday 4-8-19. Long story short, the thumb safety literately fell off around 60 rounds into my day. After being at the reapair facility for several weeks, and no apparent resolution for this problem, I went to the Eagle Imports website and sent them a note inquiring as to what was happening with my repair. I was contacted by their representitive, and as it turns out, Llama has some issues with the safety falling off and other more serious problems. According to them, its possible a resolution will be coming around September of 2019. 7-15-19, I again wrote to Eagle Imports asking for a status update, this is what they replied with: "We are still on target for late August early September {2019} for delivery of the replacement firearms. We have been in contact with factory on a regular basis. Hoping to have the test samples here soon" 8/16/19: I wrote and heard from the folks at Eagle, at that time they stated : "We are still hoping to see something soon. Samples should be arriving soon for testing. Then replacement would arrive soon after." 8/21/19: I asked how the replacement would be distributed back to folks like myself (recall that I sent mine in to repair back in April, it will NEVER be returned), the answer was "The replacements will go to American Arsenal and Armory first then to your dealer. We have some samples coming next week so hopefully these test perfectly." 9/5/19: I asked how the testing came out, and inquired about the delivery time line... to date, no answer back. It is 9/11/19, 18 years since the attack, and I have just heard back from the fine folks at Eagle Imports. As you may recall, the week of August 26th 2019, the "test samples" were supposed to arrive and be tested. I inquired a week later (9/5/19) as to how that testing went... here is the answer I received today... drum roll please... "Good Morning, We have not heard good or bad....so I am taking that as a good sign? Hopefully, we will hearing something soon. Thank you for your patience." As Sonny & Cher famously said... "and the beat goes on..." 9/18/19: I wrote back to Eagle Imports: I am hoping that you have heard something regarding the test samples by now, can you share anything on how that went? Hopefully, everyone is getting closer to determining the delivery time line, can you share anything on that time line yet? Good Afternoon: We still are waiting for the report and findings. I do apologize for the delay. Hopefully, we will hear something early next week. We at Eagle do appreciate your patience during this period of time. 9/26/19: I again wrote to Eagle Imports, "Can you share anything on how the test samples fared?" and the response was: "What I have been told is next week we will be receiving guns from the factory to for the exchanges. Please allow shipping, receiving and delivery time to American Arsenal and Armory. We here at Eagle appreciate your patience during this time. Thank you" 10/11/19: Yesterday, I received a UPS package with the replacement pistol in it. I will be taking it out and putting quite a few rounds through it this evening or tomorrow morning. I will report back with my results and hopefully be able to close out this saga with a positive note.

Great pistol for the "1911ish" like the AK variant looks like it it, but not exactly 100%, but maybe above 95%. Good looking little pistol hopefully it will take some quality defensive loads out of the box with no polishing involved.
Looks to be of better quality than the RIA for about the same price. MY RIA was an instant disappointment out of the box. Mediocre accuracy, magazine-related reliability issues. I was also expecting it to be locked breech like the Browning 1911 380. Ended up getting rid of it after finding a barely used Browning for a steal. I also recently picked up and have been shooting the heck out of a Grand Power CP380 after being introduced to it through your videos. Looking forward to the range video.
I've been waiting for this firearm to finally be available. Dying to get one . I like the looks of the wood grips better. Great review and waiting for the shooting review. Thanks.
I'm excited to see how it runs... I want a 380 in the 1911 platform, but the Browning is overpriced, the RIA doesn't interest me... but this one? Maybe?
I bought a Browning 1911 380 and thought hey since the 22lr version was great so should the 380 version. Well less then a week of owning it, it has given me nothing but issues! So I sent it back to Browning to see what they could do with it, so if it continues to give problems I might just sell it cheap and get one of these!
Julian Jones I expected great things, too....when it shoots, it is super accurate. The rest of the time I’m digging rounds out of the barrel, light primer strikes. I sent it back, they couldn’t find anything wrong. When it came back it shot great for two or three magazines, then “clunk,” and back to digging rounds out of the barrel.
Is this the new trend? Browning came out with a .380 1911 style pistol earlier this year, and I believe Rock Island Armory did too. I guess options are always good.
@2:29 -"We did another 380 1911 a while back and just kinda had some issues with it..." -Why so cryptic? Why keep me guessing? Was it a Baby Rock? Was it Browning? Colt? Was it.......?
I had a problem with the 95-grain ball jacket every day brass/ I would get a jam once or twice on every magazine, new and old. I put some 125 gr. Hyrdoshok's in there and had no issues. The particular one I bought just needed a little more explosive power to complete the full cycle.
I have an earlier "1911ish" Llama in 32acp that I I use as a pocket pistol on occasion. All the finish is gone and it has turned a nice brown and coin silver but runs like a champ after I replaced the extractor spring. It's a well made lil' gun, fun to shoot too! Looking forward to seeing this one shoot because I thought the Llama brand was dead and gone. Surprise! It's not!
I have the 1976 LLAMA .380 Originally polished blue but I had to Ceracoat since my old man has been carrying it for 30+ years before I took it over. Im an office worker so the size was attractive, its quite easy to hide. I do have some concerns with loading jams but I believe its due to me being too relaxed in the wrist. Either that or my magazines are rubbish. Ive noticed it sometimes tends to chamber the next round at too high of an angle so it doesn't just slip into the barrel, rather bumps the tip of the bullet to the top of the inside of the barrel. Let me know if any of you have noticed this issue.
Never own a LLama, but that Micromax looks nice, also I'm looking at the Baby Rock. Besides shooting the .45 and the 9mm I do have a soft spot for John Moses Browning 380. New 380 ammo up close is serious.
Yama (LLAMA) was the choice of enthusiasts in the past, overseas. But pl. keep the fire a little extended from 3 to 5 rounds of each load. Good review.
@GBGuns currently I have the Llama 380 and I’m looking for a replacement firing pin safety that seats under the rear sight due to the original breaking I looked on eBay and the one 2 answers I’m getting is the 45 firing pin safety and the Ome firing pin safety not sure what to invest in also heard some 1911’s are interchangeable
A super tight slide to frame fit isn't always a good thing. All the most reliable pistols I've ever had have had some play side to side, and up and down. Gives it room to get rid of dirt and other things that can cause a tighter gun to malfunction.
mine is a late iiia with some of the micromax features. it isn't 100% reliable and if i were to carry a 380 it would be my lcp2 which is smaller or my astra a-60 which has a 13 round mag. i usually carry a 357 snubbie, backed up w/ a 9mm or 40 cal. sometimes with the lcp2 as a backup in warm weather or as a back up to the backup.
