  • In this video, I provide an update and review of the prototype tablet stand I made for my wife. This is actually the 3rd stand I have made for her, but this version is the one that gets daily use. Here's the link to building cardboard prototype #1: • 94. Simple DIY - cardb... . Here's the link for the 2nd prototype, a particle board version: • 95. Particle board tab... .
Using corrugated cardboard (typically free from the recycle bin) and chipboard (very low cost from Amazon), I have found that I can build some very lightweight yet very sturdy and durable projects. Here's the link to a simple yet very strong custom box I made from cardboard: • 115. Simple DIY - make... .
My message here is that you do not need expensive materials or tools to build some durable items which you can use everyday. I hope this video inspires you to think about what you'd like to build and how you might go about that using cardboard. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment. Enjoy the video!
My bottom line conclusion is that this cardboard tablet stand (which is used every single day by my wife) has held up really, really well. I plan on making another one with only minor changes but this time adding a protective finish which should increase the useful life.

I find as I get older, I have less tolerance for loud noises. Whenever I am in my shop using a loud power tool like the BladeRunner or a shop vac, I wear these earmuffs.

I use landscape most of the time. I have two different kinds from a store.
I’m not really impressed with either one. I like your third prototype model. Will you be offering a pattern on paper or a page to download. I’d love to have one made of wood. God bless your little grey cells to think of many more helpful things. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏾🙏🏻🇨🇦❤️🇺🇸🕎✝️☝🏻

Hi Linda. I have thought about making formal plans for this but haven't done it yet. Maybe someday. I'm also thinking about version #4 so we'll see.
The other thing I was trying to show in this video is that making useful projects using cardboard is very doable. My wife uses this tablet stand everyday. It is light (so it's easy to move around), it is rigid (so it doesn't bend or wobble), and it has stood up to daily use for well over 1 year now.
When I first started making this cardboard tablet stand, I thought this would only be a prototype that would get replaced by a wooden version once I finalized the design. Now, I'm not so sure. A wooden version would certainly be heavier although it would look nicer after finishing with stain, oil or paint.
So now I'm investigating different ways to build using cardboard (different types) and also different ways to finish it.
Thanks for your comment and for watching.
