Choctone is my favourite color of BW! I've never found another brown so strong and emotional on any other set.

Thank you so much. I would never have thought of using purple as a base for dark skin. Am trying out this technique right now (though on a different image ) and it's working awesomely :D I'm using castle art pencils, as i dont have black widows and in case anyone's interested, the colours I'm using are Lavender (036), van dyck brown (069), burnt umber (068), and ivory black (071) :)

I remember doing voodoo queen and I didn't use much brown or black. It surprised me. The difference between the effects with the coolness between the 2 efforts

It was your original photo reference that started this whole thing :) I remember the coloring you were working on and that photo you had with beautiful lilac highlights on the skin.

@@its-easy-to-draw I remember! I'm still working on trying to get that glorious skin tone exactly. The search is on going. I haven't cracked it yet, but the lilac was definitely a step forward in my quest!

@@cnd140 Oh, I'm so glad. Please keep me posted on your journey. I think it's the 20% french grey that will really make the difference.

I love this page and how you colored it. Got everything except white pastel sticks. White luminance pencil, or white Pan pastels, which do u think I should try? Thanks so much for a great tutorial 💖💐

Can you still color dark skin on white paper or does it have to be on a tan or grey paper?
