Put some kind of muffler on it. Twostrokes benefit from the backpressure it creates.
Also, try not to engine brake too much. The piston and cylinder only get lubrication on power strokes. When you engine brake the carb only feeds the engine with enough gas/oil to idle.

Get either some black or braided hoses for the cooling, flip the radiators around and run the crossover hoses up and around the roll bar loop. Then run the other 2 hoses down the roll bars, this should clean up the look quite a bit! Mount the ignition box to the back of the seat. Maybe get a fuel tank that fits under the steering column but then you would need some type of fuel pump. Bend the input of a dirt bike muffler and run it sideways. If you want to get crazy, build some linkage off of the kick starter and run it up front so you can kick it while seated.

Nice job young man. One of my favorite go kart vids. Years ago I built a crazy kart from a snowmobile engine I got given to me. It came mostly disassembled. I put it together and it ran so I built a frame, added suspension, and I kept the stock clutches/ belt drive. Your karts acceleration reminds me of that machine. It ran a 11.7 second 1/4 mile at 120 mph. Motor was a built 570 Yamaha.

    A few comments,
    1. First of all, your video style is one of the best I have seen, I really like the show external view followed up by helmet cam. 👍
    2. The NEIGHBORS WILL NOT UNDERSTAND 😂. You are experiencing what is called “fabricators delusion”. We have all been there, yours is a text book case... “since I have spent months on this, it’s ok to test without a muffler”. It is normally treated by “home health care”. Showing up in police cars 😂😂
    3. Check your external shift linkage for binding, disconnect external linkage and try shifting gears manually.
    4. Shifting problem may be divine intervention, there may be a guardian angel keeping it from shifting to higher gears. 😇😇. Get it out on a short dirt track, 30mph is pretty fast when you are completely sideways throwing a rooster tail.
    5. Keep up the good work, I will be following for updates. If you add music to the videos, I will delete you and come and fix the shifter myself 😡😡😂😂😂. Any engine is all the music I need!
Be blessed, keep up the great work!

First off, nive work!!! I subscribed as soon as I saw you welding that nice frame several weeks ago. For the leaking float bowl, the carb might be overflowing a little. The fuel tank might be a little high, causing too much fuel pressure, but there are other things you can check first. Remove the float and give it a shake & listen. Make sure it does not have liquid inside it. If you hear anything inside, replace it. Check the float inlet needle, it should have a rubber cone shaped tip. Make sure there is not a circular "ring" worn into the rubber. If so, replace the inlet needle. Finally, you can clean & polish the brass inlet "seat" by using some q-tips and some mother's aluminum polish. I chuck q-tips into a drill and spin-polish the seats. Make sure the brass seat is clean, with no corrosion or pitting. You can make it look like gold but dont over do it, lol. Finally you can check and adjust your float height, may need to lower your float by bending the tab...this effectively causes the fuel level to be a little lower in the bowl. Doing all this will help keep your carb from overflowing. Good luck !

You need to put a muffler on that. You'll find you'll gain extra power just putting a muffler on it. Also the carby needs tuning. Carby leaking means gaskets need replacing or float inlet pin is stuck.
