Yup, I meet guys like this just about every time I go for arrive and drive. It's so off putting but I see your point. Key is to keep calm and have a tactic in mind.
there was one time (before I joined QKC) I encountered an annoying driver. when I was racing against someone at Villagio, he was quite a bad sport. when I tried to overtake him at a certain corner, he attempted to push me off the track. and that got me really angry as well. i was like: "he needs to be disqualified!"
I hate to admit that for my first ever race I was that driver 😑 I didn't know anything about racing and karting although I 100% wasn't as bad as this guy I was able to spin a guy
I would be absolutely mad if I was in your situation. Good work for keeping your cool, I wouldn’t be able to do the same… What a pain in the ass of a “driver”

Some drivers are a pain in the ass...And it's even harder in indoor tracks. I would just push him a bit (or more than a bit) from behind in the braking point so that he completely loses his racing line.
Had so much fun indoors ! Got a new helmet and was able to get on track as just another kart . I went after a regular and gave them a hard time ! They got tired of it let me by then stuffed me in the tires 😂😂 The post session confrontation was hilarious ! Messing with the 5 lap superstars was the best ! Knew one guy ready to TBone me so jammed on brakes and he ended up steering wheel deep in tires 😂 . Once got hugged by a total stranger . 30 laps and could not pass him . Wrecking him would have been easy . I wanted to shake his hand for sure but was not expecting my personal space invaded 😁🏁
Props to you. I watch a lot of these videos and the men just complain. You said I'm just gotta figure out a way to get around him. Love it, keep racing.
this once happened to me in uden in the netherlands and someone kept cutting me off and he even caused us to crash, i passed him after the crash and set a lap 7 seconds faster than his fastest lap of the race
Those guys are the worst. They cut you off over and over and then when you get aggresive to get around them they have the nerve get pissed off. Or maybe what's even worse is you end up spinning him and then you get pulled into the pits and get warned about your driving.
I was go karting today at an outdoor track. There was this kid that would attempt to ram me off the track when I come up beside him. Everytime I would try to pass him there would be a huge BANG! Despite how much ramming he did he did not end up getting thrown out despite it being against the place’s standard
Honestly, if it was just a timed session, I'd be tempted to back right off and use that space to set a fast lap. Not much point getting caught up with people like that. But... On the other hand, yeah, I've also done it, you want to stuff it up the inside to teach him a lesson... 😆
Oh this would make me mad, when a clearly slower driver holding you up does everything he can not to let you pass, I would end up ramming him into the tyres just to piss him off lol
A bit late to the video but I think you were being too nice in describing this driver. Us in the USA will call a person like this an asshole, and he surely was the dictionary description of it. In my case, I usually wait for drivers like this particular asshole to make a mistake as they typically do so that I can get past them. If that doesn't work because they're trying to block me on purpose or hit me, then I will use a maneuver to get them to slide out into the wall so that I can continue on. This is of course the nuclear option when all other civil methods are not fruitful. Sometimes it is best to give certain individuals a taste of their own medicine. And yes, this has happened to me many times. This is why I try to either go solo or with drivers who know what they're doing. Safety is number one for me and I try to avoid dangerous situations preemptively for the most part. Of course there are times when it's unavoidable and I do try to take the peaceful route like you did, but again it's not always the best course of action.
Great insight into what you do when you encounter these types of drivers! I laughed so much when you mentioned the 'nuclear option' 😂 Sometimes you have no choice!
I has having a great race with this guy once. We were keeping clean but racing hard, when we came up on a lapped cart. He cut in front of me and kept trying to spin the guy I was racing for about five laps. He kept moving under braking and cutting me off every lap. Knowing this, I hit the brakes slightly later than him so he’d cut across my nose and take himself out. The best part is he was the one that got black flagged. That was really the only way to get past him since the track was pretty narrow. For anyone who races like that, just know that you are super predictable and you’re going to get taken advantage of. “Never let them know your next move.”
What an amazing 2nd overtake! Really hate those drivers that think they are quick. Okay I understand that you want to defend but if u see 2 laps the one behind u is constantly pushing let him through and learn from his lines. Go karting is most of the times quickest lap based and not a race.
Well the driver I was versing was being annoying like this so I waited until I was at a straightaway to do this so I made it look like I was taking an inside move and he moved over to my side to block and I quickly moved back to the outside position and overtook him and moved back to the inside around a turn
Some kid was really determined to keep me behind him after I overtook him so many times the race before. The 2 laps before I got around him, he was so desperate to keep me behind, he was braking later and later (halfway through tight corners) and getting closer and closer to spinning out. Then one lap, on the first corner, he braked on the apex which spun him out and I got around him.
If youre way better than the opponent you can find a gap. But if youre only slightly better, you may end up glued at his back the whole race. Thats why I never run indoors
The same happened with my friend, he kept cutting me and not letting me pass although he was given the flag 5-6 time to let me pass , because he is slower. We ended up in crash when he tried to cut me in a turn, later that day he was the only one complaining about back and neck pain from the crash. Kind of karma because he really pissed me off.
I encountered this twice too. second time was during the first race event i took part in, but it wasn't intentional. of course the aim is to race clean and not hit anyone but with some of these guys i feel the touring car rules consisting of 3 bumps out of respect before you push someone aside could be the better choice. what do you think is better?
This is my 19th year of karting and had 3 solid years of indoors before taking it outside ! On 3 occasions some did not like getting lapped 3 times 😂😂 Two of them ended up in tires and i let them do it to themselelves ! Thought the 3rd guy was gonna kick my ass ! Built like a body builder so my stick man figure has the on track advantage . He actually said sorry for attitude he gave me ! I also had the advantage of racing our local racers ! Not much to do with Canadian winter in Toronto area . The scary part is i have also done double as a track marshall since 2011 ! Poor me had to spend all those weekends at Mosport ! Medical BS ryined the regular fun but still do a few races and work a few events ! Working a 6 hour enduro should be first thing of the year !!
1st time racing and had it happen twice, once a lady constantly stayed in the middle then closed the doors while driving slow and the 2nd time a young guy was driving in the middle, then the pass flag would come out but he would constantly cut in front when trying to pass on purpose.
I went gokarting at K1 charlotte and did 2 races, and in the 2nd race there was this person who was getting over 1 minute per lap (I was getting low 30s each lap) and they were trying to block everyone while not even hitting half gas in the straight. SO ANNOYING, and in the 10th lap (12 laps per race) I just had enough of having to overtake her around the hairpin every lap so I frickin went into the corner and rammed her from the side as hard as I could and that put her even slower for the last 2 laps and didn’t have to deal with her. I she got around 5 laps in the race. When I crossed the finish line in 3rd place I have laped her 6 times and was just getting on the straight when I finished. I hate when people are slow and block like just use the junior carts that go 25 instead of the fast 45mph karts
all you can do is wait for the opportunity.... which on and arrive and drive thing in Karts is quite often a case of waiting for a kid to get tired arms, and they just let off in the end. if you are a lot faster, and if you are planted on their rear for 5 laps, you are a lot faster.... once you pa you probs won't see them again till you lap em! 😂
A guy did this in my sons race last week and they added the penalty after the race. In the meantime everyone else on the track is moving further ahead making it impossible to catch up. Should be warned during the race to stop blocking.
Cutback move is propably the best way to deal with drivers like this. No point in going for the first opportunity, they will defend it and squeeze you. Rather you should prop them to defend in the first spot, but not go for it. Take the faster line and go past at the second spot when they have lost their momentum thanks to defending ferociosly.
I've had that before, I ended up giving them a nudge, forcing them to understeer, and cut up the inside. No, it wasn't above board, and yes, I did get told off
meant to only make one move in defense.. but... that is a gentleman's agreement thing really.... weaving is totally out of order, but parking it in the middle of the track is on.. annoying but it's fun as well.
Thank you for that karma move in the end, otherwise in your shoes I would have probably had his skull opened and possibly try to fix his brain to stop him from acting like that ever again.
I'd say the reason for keeping your cool is common sense; if you let rage get the better of you and resort to bumping, blocking or PITing, then the pain-in-the-neck competitor will use it against you, getting YOU banned instead.😤
When a driver like that is infront of me what i do is that i hit them mid corner when the kart is at its limit of grip that means that he spins or gets a realy poor exit
