To all the experts and know it alls… duhhh WD-40 shouldn’t go on the part of the rotor that makes contact with the pads which none did in the video if you “WATCHED” the video🤦🏾♂️. Even if some did I used that “INVISIBLE” brake cleaner that yall didn’t see in the video to make sure it’s all good🤦🏾♂️
That rust will be back in a heartbeat😂
👏🏾
You ain’t gotta explain nun to these clown experts
@@videos-hp4chput a light coat of wd40, not enough to splash onto the rotor. It’ll protect the rust, or do it the official way and tape up the rotor and give it some clear coat
@KJMack82 I'm shocked because I just noticed that all four of my rotors are rusty on the part the brake pad touches and I don't remember it ever being like that before. Any suggestions?
Only going to get rusty again soon after it gets wet.The WD-40 may stop this process for a little while, but this is just a very tempoary fix. Paint the formerly rusted area with POR-15 for a permanent fix.
that’s right. People think that WD-40 is a lubricant. It is not. It is a solvent. WD stands for water dispersal, the 40 indicates that it is the 40th formula they have tried. Actually, it should be called WD 41. Because they changed the formula recently to make it non-flammable. WD-40 used to be very good as a starting fluid.. they change the formula and now it is not flammable, so it should really be called WD 41
So it shouldn't be problem if some got to the caliper itself right? I have some light rust on the caliper, can I use wd-40 or should I spent some money on brake cleaner?
@@pawdaypay udah kelar om problem nya?
@@pawdaypay how did it go?
@@pawdaypaywd40 will evaporate so just dont drive right after spraying it
@ghostmae2405 after a year with no response, I'm thinking maybe it didn't go to well for him 😅
Thank you for this, have a van, it's been lying up and there is rusts on the brake discs so it failed the test
I will do this and it will pass the test, I will probably replace them soon but this is a great quick fix to get it through the test
Thank you very much
They most likely will rust again within a month. Pro tip after you do this you can get coating products specifically made for your breaks so rust won’t form(no it’s not paint please don’t spray paint your breaks)
Definitely going to do this
This is a good way of doing it just make sure you spray with alcohol after
Good job buddy! Does it work with calipers
The rust around the hub area is easy to rectify. I find it's the rust around the edge of the disc, and subsequently the dust shield at the back that makes it look so untidy
Can u just use WD 40 for the edges too?
in 2 weeks it will be the same. use wire brush to take off the rust then use some silver paint that resists to high temperature. done, rust free disk brakes for life
Depends on a lot of factors, weather, where you live etc. I'd imagine in the salt belt or on the coast or close proximity to the coast you are right but there are areas where cars fair a lot better especially in a garage.
@@Bawkr if they get wet they rust, everyones rotors get wet!
@@jimmi3376 Technically no not everyone's. DFW and around there very little wetness. You could drive a vehicle for years and never get it wet if garaged. Stand by my original comment but you have to take it to it's heart. A lot of factors. Some places it takes much longer for that to occur, which is why I have wanted to move for a very long time although I'm not in the worst spot it's too cold for me here.
So I can just get the brake cleaner and clean everything? Like the part that touches brak pads too?
some one told me wd40 drys out the part is that true?
I live on a farm, I saw your video and my cousin and I started arguing over the rotors slipping from the WD40. I soaked all four rotors on our farm truck, we did it over and over, truck stopped on a dime every time, WD40 burned off fast.
Arguing?😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@Dex-mx4jg He said it would affect braking, I said it wouldn’t, we had a heated discussion.😂🤣
@@oxyfee6486thank you! now what about the rust coming back like all the people in the comments are saying? I keep seeing two arguments one is that the brakes won’t EVER work again lol and two that the rust will just come back next week.
The rust will come back unless they are painted. It takes like a day without using the brakes for the rotors to start rusting lol
Best comment I’ve seen all day 🤣
How long would this last?
about a day.. You ever come out to your car in the morning after a night of rain? They will rust up again pretty quick.
Nice and simple can see myself doing this on my car every now and then when I have free time
The fix is dipping your rotors in Zinc.
Your a legend bruvv
Would this work on carbon rotors as well?
I have no clue
Anyone can tell if that works?
Had to watch it twice. My man KJ DID NOT FUCK UP WHERE THE PADS TOUCH. how long before it rusts again???
tell me that last long pls?
Did you give the part you cleaned a coat of oil to protect from flash rust? Just curious. No hate if you didn't lol
Dumb question but what oil would you put or does any work?
Does this work on calipers too?
Definitely doing this
Life saver 👌🏻
So im supposed to do this every time it rains? LOL.
The wd40 is what keeps it lubricated from rusty, duh
After 4 Days of Rain do it again 😂
good info ! I see u mr handy !
this only works if you aren't from the midwest lol
i just use an angle grinder and polish them smooth 👍
Lol he won’t have to worry stopping at a stop sign no more 😂
So I guess the brake cleaner in the video is invisible 🤔 🤦🏾♂️ duhh WD40 shouldn’t be where the pads touch…it was use in the center(crazy I even had to type this) btw my brakes work just fine
You mean wire brush...youre not cutting the damn caliper lmfao
@@TheDonshaz angle grinder is the name of the power tool that you put a wire brush or grinding wheel on
Thats not rust where im from lol juat buy fully coated rotors and youll never have to worry
will be back tomarow lol
👏🏾
that is not rust but anti-seize copper paint!
It looks nice. Really nice.
But... why? 😅
In another 3~4 weeks, rust will develop again on that same area; it's not a wear surface.
If going to clean the rust off, might as well have first masked the rust line (so can still see where the transition is after de-rusting),
And then PAINT the area that just got clean.
Paint will keep new rust from forming.
Not sure how well the paint will hold up though. Under hard braking, that rotor gets VERY hot...
Not heard of high temperature paint?
I do this a couple days before my yearly inspection is due (PA) so it looks all nice and shinny for the mechanic so it doesn't fail due to rust. Seems to work...
El color bronce estaba bonito....
Will this work on the actual face/disk of the rotors?
No need for that. It’s for the brake pads to make contact to stop the car.wouldn’t recommend it.
It’s fine as long as you use a brake cleaner/degreaser. It’s going to clean it up anyway. I mean the rotors are literally shipped with antitrust OIL. So it’s fine.
Sorry, but, who’s got time to do this? Are these stock rotors? If not why didn’t you purchase esoteric coated rotors? They’re only about $5 more each rotor and they’re pre-coated everywhere but the pad surfaces and they don’t get so rusty. Jim
bold to put wd40 that close to your rotors
It looks good, but it wont brake 😂
can it be off brand wd-40 cans? like the super tech ones from walmart?
Just buy black rotors with black hubs 😂
Just coat them
Don't even look at my trucks brakes.
you're better off putting a buffing wheel to that
Never put WD-40 on your Brake rotors!!!
It’s not on the rotor goofball watch the video… it’s clearly the center part.. I know it shouldnt be on the part that makes contact with the pads🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ if some did get on there it was cleaned with brake cleaner.
Bruh called em a goofball 😂
Goofball 😄
The brake cleaner would get rid of the grease and WD-40 anyway. It’s not going to do anything.
The first time you brake, the wd40 would burn off anyway.
Worked way better than I expected tbh.
Yea it’s temporary though, I might try to clear coat it to see if that will make it last longer. Just experimenting😎
@@KJMack82 rust always tends to come back eventually, i use fluid film on my Underbody but that's very oily, probably not great near brakes. I wonder if the clear coat will hold up with the heating and cooling of the disc's though.
@@BigWheel. see thats what I don’t know about the the clear 🤔 that heat might be too much for it
That will rust again within 2 weeks
Don’t do this I did this to my scooter and the brakes don’t work anymore
lol scooter😂😂
@@KJMack82 ment to say my brothers scooter 😆
It'll be back in a week
Read the description 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
@@KJMack82 read the description, thanks
SHITTTTTT
Tell me this is real without telling me this is real
I was looking for answers on how to actually clean that part and what to use 😅 thank's
actually just the abrasive pad did all that work, all you needed was only brake cleaner and scrub pad😂
Will clean for the first week, then again became rusty 😢
Why
I tried maney bullshit spry 😢 no idea
You have to move to a different climate etc. there are several solutions to taking your car out of the elements as well. It's not easy in some locations for sure.
Und was bringt das jetzt?
