- Awesome ESP LTD Iron Cross guitar made to Metallica's James Hetfield's specs. EMG Active pick-ups, dummy toggle switch, locking tuners, super fast action, Iron Cross badging... rockin' guitar!
Needs a string change to .011's and a set-up. Some scratchy sounding pots and switches but cleaned those up as well.

What a nice guitar!
Question since this is really the only tech video I have found for the Iron Cross (so props to that).
Since the upper toggle is a dummy, how hard would it be to just buy a functional toggle and rewire it? I think I can see the wire cavity from your video so it should be able to just run the wires down and disconnect the lower switch.
I’m doing this to install a kill switch on the lower toggle.
Yup... all of the routing is in the guitar. Shoukd be easy enough.
@@ManotickGuitarTech sweet. Killswitch Engage! 🤘🏻
The switch is a REAL functional switch but it's simply just not wired up.
Literally clicked on the video looking for someone talking about the upper toggle Switch.
Has anyone maybe got any tips how to make the upper switch a working killswitch? Would it work if I take the hot wire from the jack and have it pass through that switch First?
Too funny, I came here looking for the exact same answer. Thanks.
Lost on UA-cam but really nice video of your work ! Subscribe to you !
Thanks!
Hello. What is the upper pickup selector for? does it have any function?
It is a dummy switch- it has no function.
Hetfield just wanted to keep the aesthetic of the LP so added the switch.
Heavy gauge is 10-46?
Just got this Ironcross guitar after waiting many months. I’m in Ottawa, could u have a look at mine ?
Roman, send me an email at sroyMSW @gmail.com and we can discuss. I hope you have subscribed to my channel? Thanks.
Hi, what is the height of stings from the bridge and neck pickup?
Usually 4/64ths at the 17th fret
Pickup should be 1/8" on the bass side and 3/32" on the treble side
@@ManotickGuitarTech thanks very much
Dude I just got that exact same guitar (made in Korea) and I was wondering if I could send it to you and have you set it up for me.i am located in South Alabama in the United States.where are you located?
Hey, Big Mike- glad you enjoyed the video! I am in Ottawa, Canada so I am little far away😁
@@ManotickGuitarTech darn it,thanks anyways man and thumbs up
@@bigmike9527 I was thinking the EACT SAME THING while watching this! I just got my Iron Cross, and even tho it feels perfect to me, I sure it can be even better. BTW IM IN FL.......
Mine buzzes everywhere even with open E A strings maybe is nut with truss ?
Start by setting up the truss rod relief; then the string action; then check the nut slots and string action at the first fret. Process of elimination to find the buzz - if all of those measurements are good then you might have high frets past the 12th fret... hard to tell with out the guitar in my hands :)
@@ManotickGuitarTech yeah sure I wish i could come in you after the 12 frets it doesn’t buzz the E
No music. Great ;)
your welcome
