The new Batman, with the jubilee bracelet, for me. The Batman has blue and black, so you can wear it with anything, plus I think it looks a little more formal, for business attire, than the Pepsi.
I chose the oyster bracelet. The only way Rolex will ever get me to buy a jubilee bracelet is with the hidden clasp!!! No hidden clasp, no dice. I don’t like the jubilee with the oyster clasp but I love the hidden clasp version, which is only available on the previous reference Datejust 36. In fact, I’ve seen a Batman on that bracelet and it’s absolutely sick!!!
The blue is purple and the red is pink because they must both must be purple, due to how ceramic is colored. If they were true red and true blue, the ceramic bezel wouldn’t have a clean line between the two. So I’ll take the purple-and-pink ceramic bezel over the blue and red aluminum bezel that scratches easily any day of the week.
I have to choose between the Hulk and Pepsi, got my head around for months now and still I cannot choose a clear winner. I tend to the Hulk but it is very very tight race
I like the BLNR( Batman) more. For me the among the GMT watches, the BLNR represents it the most with Black part of bessel represents night time and Blue part representing day time. Also, I love shades of Blue changing depending on the lighting.
There’s nothing quite like the original 116710BLNR. The Pepsi is beautiful - especially in 18K white gold - and the LN with the green GMT hand is very sexy, too. However, as the very first bi-color ceramic bezel Rolex has EVER released, the Batman’s status and position in the pantheon of Rolex and haute horology is secure.
i have a jubilee batgirl and a oyster pepsi on order with AD, always go with the oyster strap on the pepsi as thats how they started out when first released back in the day
What's that, a wimbledon dial? That is some vintage dial in that case. The only dials available from Rolex on the GMT 2 in Oystersteel (904L) these days are ... black. You have to buy a White gold GMT 2 for $43,000.00 to pick different dial Meteorite (white) or a blue dial (couple 100$ cheaper). THere is no steel green arrow with GMT II in green text dial anymore. This is vintage and discontinued. Are you talking about a Slate dial, AKA Wimbledon dial? I agree, that looks amazing. But it's only available on the Datejust these days. You could frankenmod your GMT 2 I guess but then it's no longer gen. Do you have a link or ref. for gmt2 with this dial you are talking about? I would very much like to see it. My Rolex collection is so large now; i have 6 different Rolex' including the GMT pepsi, 2 Subs: one vintage and one 116610, one Daytona white dial Panda, a Datejust and a Day-Date. The only thing i'm even remotely interested in adding to my Rolex collection now are vintage pieces that are extremely rare and give you the ultimate 50's and 60's look and feel.
Eirik Næss it’s not hard to figure out what he is referencing. He’s talking about the all black bezel GMT-Master II with the green GMT hand with the green “GMT-Master II” text on the the dial. Ref. 116710BKSO. It isn’t vintage but it was discontinued a couple years ago.
I own two of both (1 of each for me and 1 of each for my son--all from ADs, and I only waited a few weeks for each--not months or years) and, while I love both, I would have to go with the Pepsi for the following reasons: 1) The colors pop more whereas the Batman looks all black in the shadows (speaking of black, I also own the black GMT, which I like more than the Batman--love the green 24 hour hand and the green "GMT-Master II"...it's classic whereas the Batman is a bit of a "gimmick" to me), 2) The Pepsi is a historically significant, iconic, watch in the GMT line, 3) I see the GMT as being a bit more dressed up/business/travel related vs. the divers, so the jubilee is fitting and it really pops, 4) The jubilee also doesn't show scratches whereas the Batman does with its polished center links, and last, but certainly not least, 5) The movement: The 3285 in the Pepsi has a much longer power reserve (such that I can take it off on Friday afternoon and its still ticking and ready to go on Monday morning) and it also comes with high performance shock absorbers, so it has greater resistance to shock vs. the old 3186 found in the Batman). The Pepsi only costs $300 more retail (grey market is another story) and I only paid retail for all of my watches--all direct from ADs. My latest favorite, though, is my white dial ceramic Daytona. I got the call from my AD on that one last week and I will post a video of it soon.
damachine3 I agree with what you say but, if one does like the bat man and worrying about scratches, which you should wear it and enjoy it the hell with scratches in my opinion, the Batman does come with a jubilee bracelet as well. Most don’t like that bracelet on the Batman but, they do make them with one
To me the Pepsi lugs do look better. It might also be the bracelet making them look more trim from the top. Especially when compared to the sub in the beginning the lugs look much better on the Pepsi.
Hey Craig, thanks for watching. I honestly can't see a difference in the lugs between the Pepsi and the Batman. Obviously they are different than the Submariner case.
I have both the submariner and the Pepsi and a couple of other Rolex. Interesting thing about the Submariner, if I have to give up one Rolex from my collection I would choose Submariner. If I can only keep one from my collection, I would choose the Submariner too.
If I was able to pick between the Rolex sport/professional watches, my pick would be the SS Daytona with ceramic bezel, or a 39mm Explorer. If my only choices were these 3, I'd go with the Sub. For whatever reason I have zero interest in GMTs. That said, great video as always, keep up the good work Guy!
Batman wins hands down IMO. If the Pepsi wasn’t so new... the poll wouldn’t be close. Take the poll in 2 years. My guess is Batman will far outpace the Pepsi
I’m in the market for my first Rolex and have been torn on the submariner or Pepsi. This review was really helpful in seeing these 3 models. My gut says go with the submariner date. I’m a little concerned that the Pepsi might be too ostentatious for me at my current stage in life.
I’ll go with Sub! Honestly if you gonna wear it daily you might get tired of looking at colour bezel like GMT. Nothing beats timeless classic like a Sub
This review was FANTASTIC. Thank you for that. One interesting thing to add, is that Rolex Oyster bracelets will NOT fit the new Pepsi. Unless you go aftermarket, you are stuck with the Jubilee it comes with. I have no idea why anyone would swap it anyway lol, but something to note :)
Guy - Top notch video, as always! Glad to see you back. Any way, if you haven’t already, try doing a photographic overlay of the two watches from the top, side, and underneath. To be honest, I do think one lug is smaller than the other. But I couldn’t tell if that was true or an optical illusion caused by the brushing on the lugs. Keep up the great work !
JustBlueFish Watch Reviews it’s certainly up to you! You only have so many hours in the day and I’m certain this doesn’t rank very high. At any rate, it’s just amazing that you have the connections you do to get so many cool pieces in your hands to comment on. Have a great day.
@@JustBlueFish Yes, looking good, but then I'd miss the clasp probably... I'd also consider getting the center links of the Batman brushed. I wouldn't worry about value retention because it'd be a keeper :)
Wow! What a great 2/5 watch comparison video! Incredibly in-depth. I’m in the process of trying to decide which bracelet to get on a Pepsi so this video was very apropos. Thanks!
I have the Pepsi watch and a few other Rolex's. Pepsi -I get people complimenting on this watch when I wear it. I was honestly shocked by it. I bought it because I personally liked it. Not other reason. A few of my other watches are almost double the price. Enjoyed the review. Watched this out of chance..I was going to buy another Rolex and this came up in my search. I agree totally. In my collection, this is the one watch that I put on my wrist in the morning when I put my suite on. I just love it. And...I guess, so do others.
It’s amazing to me that this dealer would lend these out to you, Guy. In theory, you’d think they would be bought and payed for before they ever physically hit the store. In any case, I prefer the Pepsi by far. It’s absolutely gorgeous and I’d take it over most any other contemporary Rolex watch.
Another great, extremely thorough review. Nicely done, sir! Side note: I came to own a 114060 after first collecting a BLNR and an Explorer 2 42mm Polar. The Sub fits my 7” wrist the best hands down. Glidelock’s definitely a factor BUT I’ve also noticed that the smaller contact area on the back of the Sub caseback actually lays better than the other two with wider flat slab backs. Food for thought.
@@JustBlueFish OK, I got an email that you responded, so I clicked on it, and I'm back. If you can't explain the differences between two almost identical watches in current production from the same manufacturer, in 15 minutes--OK, maybe 20 minutes, tops--I ain't watching. Sound, eloquent, thoughtful and quite informative review. Just as is the case with most of your videos ! Thank you for comparing these two much sought after GMT's ! Well done !!! Keep on doing great job with future videos ! P.S. There is a YT video named Rolex Waiting List Is A Lie ! A Must See video for anybody craving for "rare" Rolex models. That video explains everything !!!
Another fantastic review Guy on two amazing watches! I wish I could have one, or both! Thank you for doing this in depth comparison, you did a great job as usual.
Batman for me. Tried many GMTs and Subs. Own a Batman, it always rekindle my love for GMT (2 tone bezel) when I look at it. The contrast is much more “alive”. With the half black bezel it brings me class and earnest. Another half blue bezel brings me fun and inner joy through the good times as well as the bad. Most importantly I can wear it formal and informal. 🖤💙
There is no difference in the lugs externally however the lugs are drilled slightly differently to accept a thicker springbar for the Jubilee. Also just a note about how you place a watch down. If you lie it flat so that the clasp rubs the back of the case, you'll scratch the high polish on the case back. Hairlines here are a pita to polish out with a cape cod. I always place my watches on a cushion or on their side with the crown up.
Those who voted the Batman are the ones who bought the Batman from the previous years . They voted the watches they bought ; cos Batman is produced since 2013
Greetings Guy.... I've never "loved" the BLNR as many folks do.....until I sat next to a nice sharp couple on a flight 6 months ago. The gentleman was wearing the BLNR and it looked GREAT with smart casual clothes. Yet I'm a believer that the man-makes-the-watch.....not the reverse. I generally don't care for colorful watches, but the BLRO caught my eye several years ago when introduced in white gold. So never owning a Jubilee in 40 years of wearing this brand, I bought the steel BLRO this Fall from my AD. When the Steel-Black/Red-GMT on Oyster Bracelet arrives this year at Baselworld, I'll buy that too...... I would only buy the BLNR with a new 3285 movement as well.... Thanks!
Good stuff. Never been a fan of the GMT though, so have never owned one. Agree about the glidelock on the submariner and SD43. Being able to micro adjust the strap length so quickly and easily makes wearing either a joy, irrespective of the time of day, weather, weight gain/loss etc.
Not so sure about the Parnis, but I can strongly vouch for the satisfaction of owning an SKX 009. I keep looking at its beautiful matte blue dial all the time.
Excellent personal review.. I wish the new Batman with Jubilee bracelet had been launched when you posted your video. PS I have latest Batman with Jubilee bracelet. Love it.
I prefer the Pepsi. I have only seen one Batman in person. On a man's wrist at Goodwood with the sunshine dancing off it real nice. I have the 116710LN and prefer it over both in the video. I'm pretty sure it's not because I have one either. Super video thanks!
Sugess, and the extend link of 5mm is brilliant. They have both models, 28,8. Sapphire and ceramic. Mine run at COSC, +1-2, 200m WR, ETA clone movement
Excellent video, Guy. I hope one day you get to own the Pepsi GMT. It’s a gem, at least on my phone screen. Sometimes meeting your heroes *does* pay off. The whole “availability” topic is interesting. A UA-camr once mentioned that an AD will get you the Rolex you want if: 1) You routinely spend a lot of money at the AD (i.e. VIP) or 2) They like you My theory is that customers getting the Pepsi on a routine basis happen to be VIP “flippers” doing “back room deals” with ADs. If that’s not the case, why can some customers pay $9200 for a Pepsi and others have to pay $18000 for a “pre-owned” one? Doesn’t make sense.
Great video guy , your review is spot on . Yes Agree with your sentiments re prices . Although I think the only way we will be available to purchase if people refrain from paying ridiculous prices . I don’t think this will happen short term..
The batman is hard to sell if you already own a black sub. That is because they have some similarities in colour and look. I love my black sub and I see no added value of the batman in my collection. However the overlap between the sub and the pepsi is much less. I would like to own one some day if I could get it for a reasonable price. But i don't think that will ever happen considering how the grey market has been evolving the last couple years. I am not sure who is stupid enough to pay 16-17k for this watch. I mean at that price you might as well go a little higher and pick up a 36mm day date.
Please advise a watch like so: 39 mm diameter case; 11 mm maximum thickness; minimum 100 meters water resistant; automatic certified chronometer movement; stainless steel bracelet or titanium. Thank you.
Great review. Maybe you missed the opportunity of changing the bracelet on the BLNR for the Datejust Jubilee that your friend bought for it. That could have been an interesting comparison on BLNR+Jubilee vs the BLRO. Or maybe even better, BLNR on Oyster bracelet vs BLNR on DJ Jubilee. The subject of a future video perhaps? Thanks for the good content, cheers
I've held them both side by side, there's no perceivable difference in the case between the two watches. Is there microns of a difference? Maybe there is, but you can't see it. Anyone that tells me they can - well lets just say I think it's all in their head.
JustBlueFish Watch Reviews haha fair enough, maybe it’s an optical illusion caused but the jubilee end link being shorter which makes the Pepsi lug look relatively longer and thus slimmer
Great review/video. I agree. Pepsi is the better looking bezel for this particular watch and it's lineage. the Pepsi bezel starts in 1959, when the rare bakelite bezels were used. Up until 2007 aluminium Pepsi bezel inlays were used (optional, next to an all-black or black/red a.k.a 'Coke bezel').
it's the fancy nicknames and the hype makes those watches most wanted. before I knew that my preference was GMT Master II with black-brown bezel. same for sub, everyone has sub, and I was always looking towards Sea Dweller. Tho so far I got a Sky Dweller, great GMT option for travel, suitable for light swimming and suits for casual and dress style.
JustBlueFish Watch Reviews Interestingly that’s not the case on my wrist - I have both watches (albeit the white gold/oyster version of the BLRO), and the GMT feels slightly thicker on the wrist.
Imo they both have their place (aesthetically, exclusivity aside). I could see going to a car meet in the pepsi, while I could see going to happy hour/cocktail party in the batman.
I have a question regarding purchasing an OEM super Jubilee bracelet. I’ve read that authorized service centers won’t sell parts. Any idea where he purchased it from? Thanks for your time.
I'm impressed by how well both second hands are synchronized.
Only channel I'd stay for a 40 min review👍

Thanks!
Thanks for watching 1911. Do you think Rolex will update the BLNR to the new movement this year?
@@JustBlueFish Nope....they'll flush it and pair the new movement with a Black & Red Bezel instead; on Oyster bracelet.
I liked the side by side comparisons and also the alternative value watches!
Thanks for watching.
Why didn't Rolex name the Pepsi, "Spider-Man" to go along with the Hulk and the Batman??
Even superman
Good stuff. Never been a fan of the GMT though, so have never owned one. Agree about the glidelock on the submariner and SD43. Being able to micro adjust the strap length so quickly and easily makes wearing either a joy, irrespective of the time of day, weather, weight gain/loss etc.
Thanks for watching Larry. You’re right the Glidelock is amazing. I don’t know why they don’t make a smaller version for the other watches.
Tough decision, but if had to choose will go wit the newer movement, longer pr...
Wished the blro came with a oyster bracelet though
Not so sure about the Parnis, but I can strongly vouch for the satisfaction of owning an SKX 009. I keep looking at its beautiful matte blue dial all the time.
The 009 is a fun watch. I wouldn't get rid of mine.
Excellent personal review.. I wish the new Batman with Jubilee bracelet had been launched when you posted your video. PS I have latest Batman with Jubilee bracelet. Love it.
Definitely- I tried both and when with the Batman (jubilee) more versatile and to me, it’s more elegant
I prefer the Pepsi. I have only seen one Batman in person. On a man's wrist at Goodwood with the sunshine dancing off it real nice. I have the 116710LN and prefer it over both in the video. I'm pretty sure it's not because I have one either. Super video thanks!
Thanks Jon, hope you enjoyed the video!
Batman its more beautiful than Pepsi. The harmony is so amazing between black and blue
Thanks for watching!
JustBlueFish Watch Reviews l like your Chanel and am waiting you to make video the legendary omega moon 😉
I'm working on it, sorry it's taken so long.
Absolutely agree!! The black and blue bezel along with the blue 24 hour hand make it!!
A UA-camr once mentioned that an AD will get you the Rolex you want if:
1) You routinely spend a lot of money at the AD (i.e. VIP)
or
2) They like you
My theory is that customers getting the Pepsi on a routine basis happen to be VIP “flippers” doing “back room deals” with ADs. If that’s not the case, why can some customers pay $9200 for a Pepsi and others have to pay $18000 for a “pre-owned” one? Doesn’t make sense.
Good questions, and I wish I knew what was going on. Maybe it would make getting one of these watches easier for me...
Great video guy , your review is spot on . Yes Agree with your sentiments re prices . Although I think the only way we will be available to purchase if people refrain from paying ridiculous prices . I don’t think this will happen short term..
Thanks Brian. Ya I don't think that will happen soon.
I have a Batman and bought it at retail price. I'd love to add the Pepsi but never at a premium let alone at the current 3X retail
3x retail? No one, in there right mind, is paying that. You can find them for double or maybe just under double though.
Batman over superman eveytime. Movement DONT matter with rolex.
Thanks for watching.
Great comparison Guy!👌🏻. Stunning!
Best,
Hisham.
Thanks!
Please advise a watch like so: 39 mm diameter case; 11 mm maximum thickness; minimum 100 meters water resistant; automatic certified chronometer movement; stainless steel bracelet or titanium. Thank you.
Sounds like an Rolex Explorer reference 214270.
@@JustBlueFish Thanks a lot. I'm going to check it out.
@@JustBlueFish Is it less than 11 millimeters thick?
I think it’s right at 11mm.
@@JustBlueFish Thanks a lot.
Coming back to this vid again. Such a good comparison and still 2 of the hottest models!
Great review sir - as always. Hope the family is doing well.
Thanks Jeff hope you’re well too buddy!
Great review. Both are excellent timepieces.
Thanks for watching.
Pepsi, just got mine in September, love it
Great review.
Switching the bracelets is a hassle and I was on a time crunch to get this done. Maybe a future video, not a bad idea.
The perfect GMT: Batman with Pepsi case, movement and bracelet! I can notice a slight difference in lug width Pepsi’s are thinner
Ideal would be the batman with the bracelet and new movement from the Pepsi.
Thanks for watching.
The jubilee bracelet just looks correct like the old GMT’s
Great video!! In my opinion Pepsi FTW :-) To my eyes there is a difference with their lugs.
Thanks Manny.
Jubilee for the win. But I would probably go for the submariner, less money and you get basically the same or even better.
The Submariner is the classic right?
Great video. Now I have to go change my drawers.
haha, thanks
I think the Batman kinda takes shine off the Submariner. It's the same type of color scheme. If you are going to go color, go color all the way.
The Bat🦇
I wish they went back to a non polished center link on the oyster. It’s just too big of a solid polished area.
Agreed.
STRONGLY DISAGREE!! The center polished links really make the watch look “Rich!!!”
can you tell me the reference of the jubile bracelet for the batman?
I don’t know off hand I’ll ask my viewer that loaned it to me if he knows.
its writen in the bracelet
Both are gorgeous but Pepsi FTW.
#TeamPepsi
This video is awesome, great comparison!
Thanks for watching I appreciate it.
Small thing, but the Sub case is slightly thinner than the GMT (because the simpler movement is thinner).
Ya good point. The GMT does sit flatter though because of the case back, at least was the point I was trying to make.
JustBlueFish Watch Reviews Interestingly that’s not the case on my wrist - I have both watches (albeit the white gold/oyster version of the BLRO), and the GMT feels slightly thicker on the wrist.
Don't forget the sub is 300M diver, the case should be more secure for water resistant!
They both look great but if I had to choose, I’d choose the BLNR.
Imo they both have their place (aesthetically, exclusivity aside). I could see going to a car meet in the pepsi, while I could see going to happy hour/cocktail party in the batman.
Great review. Good perspective. Thanks very much.
Batman 👌🏼
Pepsi!
agreed if you are not looking for something uncommen :)
Agreed... if I had to choose from the three, Pepsi all day.
#teampepsi
I have a question regarding purchasing an OEM super Jubilee bracelet. I’ve read that authorized service centers won’t sell parts. Any idea where he purchased it from? Thanks for your time.
Nice comparison
Thanks!
What year is those two watches. The Pepsi & The Batman.?
I didnt see the poll. Pepsi with jubilee is the king. I am so happy they added jubilee to Pepsi. Only problem is I am still in the wait list.
