Technically the new beats it in every area. I love vintage, but I’m of a certain age. Same with anything vintage really, could be a watch, car, house etc… etc…. The Morden will out perform it in every area. You buy vintage with your heart not your head.
It's not that Rolex specifically has problems with the color red, red absorbs more high energy photons which damage the pigment more easily. You see this on cars, flags, toys or anything else with red color.
Neo-vintage is the best of both worlds. I have the 16610 sub. The perfect case size, aluminum bezel, 904 steel, sapphire, better movement, still waterproof with no worries and tritium hour markers. I personally love the bracelet on older Rolex just because it’s so light and comfortable to wear daily.
@@andrewgiblin3468 oh that’s right mine has drilled lugs too!! I swear this model has everything that was great about vintage Rolex and everything great about modern Rolex.
I agree I have a 14060m Rolex Submariner. It's an absolute delight to wear. As far as I'm concerned the 14060m and the 16610 were the last of the best Rolex Submariners. The new Submariner's don't have the cool factor like the pre ceramics
I didn’t either. All I took away was the need to flex the white gold GMT which is $20k more and “jangles” less on the basis it is a heavier metal when in reality it has a few more links removed for a tighter fit.
I bought my 2002 16710 Coke pre-owned in 2003 for £1,900 (around $2,500), Wore it every day for eight years without a thought or care until the prices started going nuts and it actually became too valuable as a daily beater (thieves know the value). So now it sits in a safe quietly appreciating. The first successful investment I ever had for something that was never nought as an investment,
Apparently the reason for the variance in bezels: most other brands up to that point would use separate solid halves of a ceramic bezel insert, or simply paint over it. Rolex uses a more expensive and more durable method using one single ceramic insert and a high-pressure chemical process called sintering to create the second color before the platinum inlays are set - the second color (red) is infused with the base color (blue) throughout one half of the insert on a molecular level, and it took them a few tries to get the exact composition right, tweaking various shades of blue and red. Red + Blue = Purple.
Regarding the sizing, back then they also came out with a huge watch in the yacht master 2. They tweaked the gmt but did dabble also in ridiculously large sizes
wonder if the white gold, black dial pepsi will become a future classic due to the short production run and that many dials have been changed out with blue dials??
I think some of the opinions from you guys are conflict of interest. always saying, vintage is better than Modern in which you guys specialize in selling older watches. 😮. Of course we all have our own pinions, and we should respect it.
The ceramic Pepsi bezel colors are not nice. The blue looks more like purple, and the red lacks richness, nothing at all like the colors found on the aluminum bezels. Just compare the blue colors between old and new at 16:35
I have 4 GMT Master II’s. 16760 Coke Fat Lady, 16710 Coke, 126710BLNR (Batman) and the 126711CHNR (Root Beer) To be 100% honest I love my 16710 Coke and it is the most comfortable and easy to wear. I hope in the near future Rolex Re Releases the Ceramic Coke GMT II. That would be an amazing modern GMT Master II .
I had a gilt dial 1675, faded bezel vintage GMT and none of the modern iterations are better in my opinion. I passed the opportunity to buy the new ceramic version at retail.
GMT is a jewelry watch which are loved by many watch investors. As a watch collector not an investor, I do not recommend any GMT as the usability is limited. To keep away from being noticeable by people, a low profile black Explorer 2 or a black bezel yacht master may be a better choice. The yacht master has the bazel to keep track of time passed.
Most useful complication for me. If you work across time zones, (especially if there is an AM/PM changes and inconsistent Summer time) it is a life saver. Doing the math is much harder when you are jet lagged from travel. Also, on super long travel days, my phone has run out of juice, or I cant find a charger. The watch has saved me.
Even if you didn’t need the GMT function I still don’t see how it’s usability is limited when compared to the Explorer 2 or Yachtmaster. Neither of those watches has more features. The GMT technically still lets you keep track of time passed with the bezel, like the YM and Sub would.
What is the meaning/point of the 'Master' part of the name? Why not just call it a Rolex GMT? Same goes for the Yacht 'Master'. Although a 'Rolex Yacht' does sound a bit stupid.
The more i learn about rlx it is like sugar cartel in my country how can someone be willing to spend money on such company??? Of course the watch is great but how they do their business is sketchy.
It's funny how nearly No One knows why the Pepsi exists, which is why the GMT was even developed/introduced... and one giveaway is that many of the original GMTs had White faces for the American Pilots for whom it was designed and then was only offered in White gold when the re-issued the Pepsi (in ceramic). Wearability and Accuracy have created the fortress around this watch which keeps these old Rollies immune to Obsolescence, along with global parts and service support 👏 👍 Thanks Rolex ☺️ 😊 🫂
End note.... you missed the One feature (or lack thereof) that makes the Original (vintage) GMT's the most wearable (usable) GMT of them all....... Matte dial 👍 😉 ~
Twenty six minutes is way to long to talk about any GMT. I find it quite interesting that two very young guys are such experts on Rolex’s. Where did they get their training. All these people that have their own videos on Rolex. Maybe the urge to own a Rolex. For one reason only. They want to be seen wearing a Rolex. From my first Pepsi in 1967 that sold for under two hundred dollars to my new 2022 Pepsi. So after 56 yrs. Seeing a Pepsi on my wrist. Which I love more than both of my day dates and my 2022 sub that just hasn’t talked to me, so it sits on the watch winder.
I lucked out in 2013 when I purchased a pepsi 16710 from 2007 for £3,800 - I only found out a few years ago it is a transitional watch that runs the same movement they put in the 6 digit. Solid build, durable, updated movement (for then) but the slimmer proportions of the 5 digit. It also carries a different dial with serif minute markers and slightly different font. A watch I will always keep, to me the perfect gmt.
I picked up a BLNR on oyster from my AD 3 weeks ago - I am far from upset lol. I literally blew up my collection and sold all my other watches in rotation to rebuild around the BLNR. The GMTII will be my daily from here on out. Have a couple other pieces lined up from my AD, also Rolex models. The GMT is far more comfortable than the Sub on the wrist, flatter case back and nearly 1mm thinner.
That's how I felt when I got my BLNR from the AD 2 years ago. I had the Sub before and the OP41 green afterwards. I just only picked up the sprite Monday from the same AD after 2 years. But the BLNR had the most wrist time out of the collection. Sub basically doesn't see the day of light.
I found the super case noticeably larger on the Sub 114060 I owned vs the 14060 I had. However, I don’t find the super case obnoxious on my BLNR. It just feels like a very well built, substantial watch. The side profile still has those gorgeous Rolex sport case lines.
I bought a 3 month old 16710 for £2,050 in 2003. The previous owner bought it with a black bezel since he really wanted a Submariner. I wanted the black and red bezel and had one fitted. It’s only an insert. That’s why I can’t understand this obsession with Pepsi etc. It takes less than a minute to swap them.
I love the pre ceramic Rolex Submariners and GMTs. I also own a Submariner 14060m. The wearability on the pre ceramics are phenomenal 👌 a pre ceramic Pepsi is next on the list. Not really a fan of the current GMTs. The pre ceramics have a serious cool factor and all the hallmarks of the OG GMTs
I owned a 5513 that was minty, but was too delicate (compared to modern Subs). I sold it in 2016 and bought a Hulk. No matter what the vintage tool watches were intended to do when new, they just don't hold up to a careless lifestyle. Acrylic crystals, stamped bracelets, etc. can't hold a candle to new Subs.
True, but the 4 digits are way more delicate than the 5 digits. While the 6 digit models of today are even sturdier, the neo vintage 5 digit models sort of scratch the vintage itch while still performing well and not running the risk of getting damaged easily. If the 5512/5513 hadn’t exploded in price, i might still want one. But now I’m more tempted to get a 14060m as a compromise. Still, i do lust for that matte dial and acrylic crystal.
I am not upset. But I think the policy is very bad. I had the great fortune to order a jubilee band for my 126710BLRO in addition to the Oyster later and now I swap bands - depending on my gusto. What annoys me more is the quality. I have had to have the SL renewed on a tudor bb48 and a 16710 because not enough was applied to the hands. but: i have that again on the hand of my new blro - but what rolex about it? wow, that's normal and in the tollerances. amazing that it's in the tollerances to see gray fields in the dots or in the hands with the naked eye. this experience and also the often arrogant manner of the salesmen have made me to be enthusiastic about other brands.
I have the 16710 Coke, absolutely love it. 33yrs later and it’s still looks like new. Last servicing I switched out the coke bezel for an all black. IMO, the all black bezel looks real classy.
Amazing video, very interesting hearing those parts of history. Please make a video like this on Daydates and which era you think is a smarter take. That would be awesome. Keep it up!
Preach B/B 16710 here with over 4000 days of wear, a few hundreds were in subtropical jungles. Lasted longer than my marriage and with less damages and …uh… misunderstanding, lol. A true tool watches that can be used for bartering too.

The proportions of the non supercase models are way better. If Rolex released a new GMT master 2 with the same proportions of the older models, it would be pretty much the perfect watch
126719blro if ppl wanna know. First with black dial then to blue. But the Meteorite dial is also under the same reference. But the full name would be 126719-001/002/003 Like my YM 126621-001. Brown. But 126719blro everyone will understand if u remember the model number
Rolex watches are falling for several reasons. For years Rolex has used Tudor as its cat paw! It has manipulated Rolex prices by artificial watch shortages and offering a cheaper watch. Rolex has raised its watches prices by bait and switch. There is no reason for their inflated prices. In my opinion, it is simple rip-off. In the past Rolex watches were sold in many jewlery stores. The middle class were capable of buying them. Rolex makes a decent watch. I owned one in the 1980's. But I object to their business methods. So I wear Omega watches. Omega is not perfect but in my opinion, it beats Rolex not only in value but their business practices are more in agreement with mine. I am starting to think the public is waking up on Rolex. Rolex is an overinflated balloon. I believe their watch line is stale and way overpriced. If people start switching brands Rolex prices could fall like a rock. There are many other quality watch companies. It is insane for the demand for a Rolex diving watch. It is completely illogical. A field watch or a GMT is believable.
Neo vintage is the way to go. My daily watch is my Omega Speedmaster Schumacher 3518.50. Still feel solid on the wrist. But has that great smaller presence that I like in the neo vintage. Next watch will be a Rolex Sub 14060M 2 line.
Nice video guys My mid 90s Pepsi GMT Master, because of the less slab sidedness than the ceramic Sub is actually lighter to wear and also more scratch resistant than either my Sub or pre ceramic Daytona I’ll take that older bracelet any day Very user friendly design

Sry, but what happened to the intro? It was so catchy before, please bring it back!
126719blro if ppl wanna know.
First with black dial then to blue.
But the Meteorite dial is also under the same reference.

In the past Rolex watches were sold in many jewlery
stores.
There are many other quality watch
companies.
I just sold my 14060 2-liner. I've gotten to a point where I just prefer more heft on the wrist
@omar10213245 i understand, I have a Sinn U1 when i need heft on the wrist
Hi guys. Please could you review the Yatch Matser someday. Both steel and bimetal. Thanks
Amazing video on the GMT, definitely a grail, value prop, timepiece versatile in any collection. Even a 1 watch collection.
Nice video guys
My mid 90s Pepsi GMT Master, because of the less slab sidedness than the ceramic Sub is actually lighter to wear and also more scratch resistant than either my Sub or pre ceramic Daytona
I’ll take that older bracelet any day
Very user friendly design
"A tool's wa--" I see what you did there
👊🏼🖖
sold the GMT for the Seadweller 50th 🤣🤣🤣
Did the opposite and swim with it. New one though. Sd was cool , Shame it didn’t fit me well,
Although I had doubts about buying a replica watch, gussl dispelled my doubts. The watch has an authentic look and feel.
Neo vintage is king, subs, Explorers and GMTs!!!
