After all these years, this channel is still going from strength to strength. There's no other watch content on any platform that can even remotely compare. Love your work, TGV. Keep it up, onwards and upwards. Cheers!
@@theurbangentry Hey TGV would you be able to do a video comparing the 36mm Tudor submariner to the 40mm version, I've seen your videos including it but I don't think you've done a video specifically on the 36mm Tudor sub, I believe you've since sold the 36mm sub for the 40mm. I also love your watch history videos and would love to see more of those though they are often combined in your review of certain watches, perhaps you would consider doing more stand alone videos of that sort as your narration and videography make the videos very entertaining. Maybe in a format like: A history of the Rolex GMT master A history of the omega speedmaster And so on Anyway thank you for continuing to put out high quality videos I've watched for around 3 years now and you played a big part in sparking my interest in various different watch brands and models.
@@theurbangentry I enjoyed it. I agree the new Pepsi looks a bit too uninspired. If Kane Hodder noticed your Day Date he would have probably liked it. A lot safer than going up to your man from One foot in the grave and shouting “Well I don’t believe it”.
TGV - Something that I’ve come to appreciate about your library of information on UA-cam is that it’s timeless for the most part. I’ve never seriously considered a GMT Master II because there were other watches that I was chasing. But now that I have checked a few boxes in my collection, I’m a buyer. I say this because I had never watched this video in the past because the watch at the time wasn’t a priority for me, but now it is. And I’ve been a subscriber for 8 or 9 years now back to the SKX007 days and regularly view your content. Thank you for the thoroughness and attention to detail in all of your content - cheers
I have always loved watches, but seeing the Rolex GMT with Pepsi bezel on Magnum PI took it to a new level. It is truly one of my top 5 favorite watches. Thank you TGV for another great video.
I really enjoy 'The History of' segments in your videos because they add so much background and context. I appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos. Very cool intro also! 👍
This one's on my watchlist for later tonight TGV! Been really loving your content lately, the channel is just getting better and better. So glad I've been along for the ride!
Watching this video with my wife. My wife isn't really interested in watches, but she definitively loves the calm voice. Thank you sir for another great video! These videos are pieces of art.
The GMT Pepsi on the jubilee bracelet is one of my grail watches. As a pilot (student at the moment I should add) it would be nice to have a watch related to flying in a way, even though you can find all the different timezones on your phone. I think the jubilee fits it, because even though it is supposed to be a “tool watch” I can’t see myself wearing it while working on my car or pulling weeds out of my garden. Great video as always TGV!
I’ve heard it called The Bruce Wayne - and it’s the dressier and less bulky version of the Batman. Thought that was the perfect nickname for it. Great video, this is definite my personal watch crush
I like the Bruce Wayne too. I think of cars as having feminine nick names but it just seems weird for a watch. I think because it’s jewelry designed specifically for men
I am so incredibly happy to have my Batgirl. I was fortunate enough to land one through my AD within a few months of talking to her about it. Many feel like the oyster is the way to go on a sports watch, and in most cases they're right, but I feel the jubilee adds a touch of class that absolutely fits for a traveller's watch. This was my original "grail" watch and it still makes me smile every time I put it on.
@Mark L it wasn't the first Rolex I purchased from that AD and I'd bought a Speedy and a grand seiko from the same boutique. So... purchase history and good luck.
I love my "Batgirl" and it gets its intended use as an international airline pilot. Good review. BTW, I don't mind the name Batgirl. My masculinity is not threatened, and I kind of like the perception that its a feminine entity always there as my travel companion :)
I love my “Batgirl” too and now that you mention it, I’d much rather be reminded of the fit female form clad in a tight leather suit than a dude in briefs!
Great introduction!! Now I do not have to read 5 books about Rolex GMT - you narrated it perfectly!! The design of the new clasp looks very interesting... Great show! Regarding negatives, I believe that you nailed it with the case of this rolex and small wrists. It somehow does not embrace (hug) the wrist.
Going through the archives - and just picked up my Batman yesterday - definitely, to use the current popular phrase in the watch game, a ‘heavy hitter’. The blue on the bezel is incredible. So solid. Would have preferred the Jubilee but just too long of a wait - jumped at this, no looking back (unless I win the lottery this weekend).
You are the most informative and attention grabbing teacher on UA-cam. Even though these are way out of my price lane, I still love hearing all the facts and details. Thank you professor for another great video!
TGV...I'm way off topic, but I thought of you when looking at my watch collection tonight. You got me started with my SNK809. Imagine it with a brown burnt leather strap. It's a real sweetie. It's the perfect size and the design is priceless. 7S26 is outdated, but it is also basic and relatable. I got it for $42 6 years ago. Now look at it. You are and will always be...the man!
TGV, you mentioned the 16750 came out in 1981 with caliber 3075, but that model is not a GMT Master II as shown in your clip and does not have an independently set hour hand. Keep making your awesome content. Love the historical context
Great review, thanks! the 120 clicks on the vintage version is quite clever. It allows one to use the marker on the bezel to time events close to half a minute. I have a BLNR and it would be good to have 120 clicks or 60 clicks.
100% agree with this. You get the 24 hour functionality with a granular ability to use it as a timing bezel. The 24 click and the case heft are keeping me from upgrading my 17610 to the newer version.
I’m not a massive fan of Rolex however, there are 2 Rolex watches that I love. The 39mm Explorer - I owned one, didn’t get it, sold it and now understand what I’ve lost! 😭 and the GMT 2 Batman. I love the Jubilee bracelet with the watch and also believe that the retail price is acceptable and worth it. As for grey market prices? In my opinion, no way is any Rolex product worth the mark up in price. If you’ve got that much money to spend on a watch, there are plenty more “high horology” brands out there that offer a better product. That is just my opinion and I know others will disagree but there you go. Excellent video as always! Thank you TGV.
You’re 100% correct that ceramic Pepsi is missing all the charm, charisma, and vibrant colors of the vintage steel bezels. Fortunately that’s one unobtainable watch I’ll never be waiting on.
Pepsi bezels also look cartoonish and childish. Pretty much any other color combination looks more "mature" and is easier to integrate in to an outfit. My understanding is that it's a technical feat to create a red/blue ceramic insert but I would aesthetically much prefer a navy/burgundy color scheme.
@@Mister_Phafanapolis I’d be honest, I was not a fan of how the Pepsi looked in photos or videos. However, when I picked my pepsi GMT up, I was amazed by how spectacular it was with the jubilee bracelet. I do like blue and black, but the red and blue is amazing.
In my opinion, the pepsi on an oyster is one of the best looking watches of all time. PS: That’s so awesome you met Kane and did a wrist watch check with him. Would love to hear more of your thoughts on horror films in videos.
Insight on the 120 click bezel vs 24 click bezel. As a pilot I appreciate the added precision the 120 click bezels provides. There are timed approaches in aviation and the 120 click bezel allows you to set the triangle at any 1/2 minute point on your watch face. For example a 6 minute descent, you might not be able to set the bezel triangle as a reminder on a 24 click bezel since every click travels 2.5 minutes. Also some planes require you to manually switch tanks every hour so can align the 120 click bezel triangle with the hour hand no matter where that hour hand is located on the watch face. Basically the jumps on the 24 click bezel are too large. The visual transition from the super case lugs to the bracelets on post 2004 models just doesn’t look right. Either the bracelet needs to be wider, or the lugs need to be slimmer. Love my 2004 all black gmt that I bought new for less 4K USD. I think the all black gmt was discontinued because non watch people confused it with a submariner. Also love your channel!
What year Explorer is the wrist check? I know that you have over the years grown fond of vintage watches that have more of a historical reference because I do agree with you that even a quartz watch that comes out of the bubble gum machine has its place in horology whether it's just the fact that it exists or whether it's a part of a larger group anyway I really appreciate your videos one of the best online definitely top 10 of the ones I watch that have nothing to do with each other thank you very much sir I appreciate your honesty and your presentation not to mention I think that people notice less the fact that you have the Fantastic video editing the music the cuts the pictures everything just work so well together you do a fantastic job and it could be just you have the right people working with you but still that's your decision and it's all part of the whole thank you again
The new jubilees are just fantastic looking. This may be my favorite GMT Master yet, aesthetically speaking. I really stand by the notion that the GMT complication is one of, if not THE, most useful options one can have on a watch today.
All that said for my earlier post I really also appreciate the fact that you spend time on watches such as Seiko and Casio I've recently gotten into Seiko Waist Deep and with all the mods they get into a luxury watch cost but yet are still not considered luxury watches my goal is to build all of my favorite watches in a Seiko version and then purchase a version of the original whether it be vintage or new it's going to be a long journey I appreciate it that you have been part of the beginning thank you for your input
My grandfather’s two tone GMT Master II was a significant contributor to my love of watches. Growing up, it was always something I admired and helped kindle a spark in me which is now my passion for watches. For that reason I’ll always love Rolex’s GMTs.
I watch many of your videos and don't hit like nearly enough. I will do this more moving forward! I appreciate your work and thank you for helping me get into watches!
Great video, as always. May i suggest an topic for future video....Rolex Air-King 116900. Or Air-Kings as an line of watches. History, review etc. I'm a fan, and it's very overlooked watch, that has not been over-discussed. Thank you, and keep up the great work.
Despite the potential case top heaviness, those dimensions and weight are among the reasons why so many people find Rolex watches to wear “just right”.
Although a shot appeared in the video from a magazine, I’m surprised the Magnum, P.I. connection wasn’t mentioned. I doubt the Pepsi GMT would have the same status without that exposure. That show was huge!
Great video. Was wondering if you would ever do a video on the Explorer 2? I have both the 216570 Polar and 216550 Noir and cannot really tell the differences from the latest editions from Rolex.
Loved the video but the Timex Waterbury gmt is closer to my price range lol. TGV can you do a review of the Dan Henry 1963, he has re released it in 40mm and sapphire crystal.
Hopefully one day we'll see your work in the big screen because you're a natural movie maker and when passion is put into what you do the results can only be lovely. A carefully made small documentary movie is how I can describe what I've just watched here. Thank you.
i‘m gonna pick my Batman up in 10 days and i didn‘t choose the jubilee because my second watch will be a Datejust with a jubilee bracelet. Otherwise the jubilee looks very nice with the Pepsi.
Thank you TGV for another great Rolex comparison! It was very interesting to see in what ways Rolex succeeds to improve their watches and in what ways they could have done better. Also, I have an off topic question. May you please let me know of what you think about budget brands like Starking and Vostok? It would be very interesting for me to see you review these brands. Thank you again for another wonderful video! Stay healthy and well! Nicholas.
I'm currently looking for a watch for my boyfriend and I'm not sure what to get. He has a nice collection and his favorite brands are Stauer, Citizen and Breitling. He wears a suit for work every day and he loves the "timeless" look. I'm curious if you're familiar with the "Larsson and Jennings" brand? And if you would recommend them? And if it came down to them, Oris or Tissot, which would you recommend? I'll take any suggestion.
Great video again TGV, unfortunately it'd be easier to buy the Mona Lisa than a SS Pepsi from an AD and a lot less hassle. Probably cheaper to insure too haha. Keep up the good work.
Just finished watching an old video of yours, about the watchco seamaster 300, and now there is this new video! Love the gmt master, especially the early 00’s versions. The maxi case still looks a bit off to me, I’d rather have the vintage versions (same for the subs). Thank you for another very interesting vid! Keep them coming :) Best regards, -Ties
Great video. Absolutely love the watch, Absolutely hate the name. BTW- May sound crazy but that box on your table next to the lava lamp. Is that from Hellraiser? Lol
Great video! Wow, that Seiko SNR033 Skyline!!! I know this was about Roly GMTs, but the Seiko is the better watch in every way. Well, not asset appreciation! That said, the GMTM2 Blue/Black (can't use the crass comic refs, sorry) variant is my favourite, though looking forward to a return of the more subdued/subtle all black model in 2022?
tgv! good day sir, will you ever review the first gmt you had, the 116710 LN? looks a treat and would love to hear your perspective if you want to go down memory lane
I have the 126710BLNR on the jubilee bracelet. Supremely comfortable and great looking. Don't need a third oyster bracelet. It works perfectly on the BLNR.
Great video as always TGV 👍🏻 I’m not sure if you still do these types of videos. But I’m looking to spend around £800 on a black dive watch. Any suggestions?
TGV, I'm wondering if this Rolex allows setting of a time zone which is an half hour forward or behind GMT. Cheaper GMT watches do not allow such a setting. For instance, the state of South Australia (and the Northern Territory) is +9:30 ahead of GMT. Likewise, India is +5:30 ahead of GMT. There are numerous more examples. Batman or Batgirl can hardly engage in superhuman activities if they're messing up phone homes to HQ with late or early calls. It's poor form.
As always an informative review. Love your passion for watches and film. A must watch film to play spot the time pieces is THE BIG SHORT. Again TGV, kind regards from Australia. Rikki Dee
Whoa! Sorry to go so far off base but I had to stop and back up to 3:02 to the pilot sitting in the cockpit of an F-4, obviously from Vietnam. The part of the photo in question though is the aircraft in the background with the radome removed exposing the radar. More specifically, the emblem on the side of the nose. That is the squadron insignia of the 433rd TFS, Satan's Angels. The squadron of none other than the American hero Gen. Robin Olds, mastermind of Operation Bolo. One of the greatest fighter pilots to ever live and someone whom I actually knew, albeit only slightly. On top of that, I was also in that squadron in the early eighties at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, NV. I wonder who the pilot is. Okay, got that out. Now back to our regularly scheduled watch review.
Your channel has inspired me to create my own...no idea yet how I can make it different or interesting to watch enthusiast but I am going to give it a go since it is a passion I can't get enough of. Thanks TGV!
I concur with your conclusions and agree 100% that this BLNR blows away the Pepsi model. The forums have it wrong this is the one to buy! I plan on picking one up in a few years to celebrate a big milestone. Great review.
Hi TGV Surely impressing! The indisputable king of GMT watches in its newest version. Even on video you can sense the quality improvement. Still thinks the Pepsi color combo is the unbeatable and most characteristic classic version. This version is much more discrete, some will say tasteful. And I certainly get the appeal of that... “Bat girl “!?! Hmm...is this a tribute to the “Me Too” movement? A bit silly in my opinion. I suppose that women pilots already has been wearing Rolex GMT’s for years anyway😆 The Rolex GMT is still my ultimate grail watch and I’ll probably never get one. Keep up the good work👍
Love the new strap! Looks like I’m picking one up. The valour is still my favourite. Have you thought about having a seatbelt nato version of your collab? Hopefully soon and also thin.
@TheUrbanGentry video was great and loved how you focused on the BLNR jubilee GMT. The jubilee is absolutely perfect on the BLNR GMT. Makes the watch pop, so much more class, and separates it from the sub. As other commenters mentioned, Bruce Wayne is perfect name for this watch.
Excellent video as always! Thank you for the content. Its so easy to forget about the all black GMT... or the two tone... They are relative bargins by comparison!
Is the msrp price worth it? Personally, i would say yes, but there is the thing - your chance of getting one at this price is slim. When it comes to as you said that imperfections can make something more likeable - oh how true that is! That's why i still wear my Vostok watches, i don't know why, but they are incredibly charming by not pretending to be something they're not. Awesome video, as always!
I wear a 1990s Rolex GMT Master 16700 with an all black bezel, bought pre owned nearly 10yrs ago( when they were relatively affordable).I like the discreet look of this watch, the only colour being the red 24hr hand.
“ I must be dreaming”…😉 Just never gets old - just like the Rolex GMT. Great video 👍 Btw, in regards to value: a product is worth whatever someone is willing to pay. Im not that someone….
Was fortunate to be able to purchase one from my AD last year and although it doesn’t get much wrist time, I do love it when it’s on my wrist and the jubilee is super comfortable. Don’t really care what others call it, as I just call it Beautiful

My grandfather’s two tone GMT Master II was a significant contributor to my love of watches. Growing up, it was always something I admired and helped kindle a spark in me which is now my passion for watches. For that reason I’ll always love Rolex’s GMTs.
What happened to it
@@oscarosullivan4513 Nothing, in fact I saw the old chap today and it was on his wrist.
Love the BLNR Jubilee, it's one of my favorite watches in my collection. Great review, enjoy your watches journey.
I watch many of your videos and don't hit like nearly enough. I will do this more moving forward! I appreciate your work and thank you for helping me get into watches!
I tried on a Pepsi about a month ago at my local AD. Beautiful. Ended up taking home something else - but had to try on the Pepsi.
How do you compare the tudor gmt to the above ?
Although a shot appeared in the video from a magazine, I’m surprised the Magnum, P.I. connection wasn’t mentioned. I doubt the Pepsi GMT would have the same status without that exposure. That show was huge!
Really cool video, TGV! Always enjoy seeing your videos when I come home from school! Hope you’re doing well!😀👍
Great video. Was wondering if you would ever do a video on the Explorer 2? I have both the 216570 Polar and 216550 Noir and cannot really tell the differences from the latest editions from Rolex.
You always reduce my ignorance per my addiction to AKA watches !!!! Thanks Dayton ,Ohio USA.
Thank you.
Note: at 5:50 -The 16750 has a quick set date upgrade. It does NOT have a quick set hour hand.
i‘m gonna pick my Batman up in 10 days and i didn‘t choose the jubilee because my second watch will be a Datejust with a jubilee bracelet. Otherwise the jubilee looks very nice with the Pepsi.
Just buy the Jubilee separate, I just did. They are selling them again . 2400 but it’s like having 2 watches
Nicholas.
❤ what is the official price at the Rolex dealer with wait list 2 years?
I'm currently looking for a watch for my boyfriend and I'm not sure what to get. He has a nice collection and his favorite brands are Stauer, Citizen and Breitling. He wears a suit for work every day and he loves the "timeless" look. I'm curious if you're familiar with the "Larsson and Jennings" brand? And if you would recommend them? And if it came down to them, Oris or Tissot, which would you recommend? I'll take any suggestion.
Currently working towards a batgirl on a jubilee myself, it will most likely be my end game watch.
Niiiiiice, "end game watch" I like that idea.
Thank you Ed, hang in there, it will feel so much sweeter with all the hard work.
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry Thank you for the words of encouragement TGV :D
Great video again TGV, unfortunately it'd be easier to buy the Mona Lisa than a SS Pepsi from an AD and a lot less hassle. Probably cheaper to insure too haha. Keep up the good work.
Just finished watching an old video of yours, about the watchco seamaster 300, and now there is this new video! Love the gmt master, especially the early 00’s versions. The maxi case still looks a bit off to me, I’d rather have the vintage versions (same for the subs). Thank you for another very interesting vid! Keep them coming :)
Best regards,
-Ties
Great video. Absolutely love the watch, Absolutely hate the name. BTW- May sound crazy but that box on your table next to the lava lamp. Is that from Hellraiser? Lol
Yeah lovely watch, fantastic on the jubilee. Batgirl is a bit silly 😜. It’s much better on the jubilee. Brilliant video mate 👍🏻🍻
Great video! Wow, that Seiko SNR033 Skyline!!! I know this was about Roly GMTs, but the Seiko is the better watch in every way. Well, not asset appreciation! That said, the GMTM2 Blue/Black (can't use the crass comic refs, sorry) variant is my favourite, though looking forward to a return of the more subdued/subtle all black model in 2022?
tgv!
good day sir,
will you ever review the first gmt you had, the 116710 LN?
looks a treat and would love to hear your perspective if you want to go down memory lane
Thanks TGV for the GMT topic; a GMT is my next targeted purchase.
The new model is vastly superior technically speaking, and yet I'd go for your own model. It has that oldie charm that's unbeatable.
Fabulous review. I enjoy the documentary video style with the historical existential aspects.
What visualizer do you use in videos
Great video, as always, and a terrific watch. Thomas Magnum wore this watch in the original Magnum PI.
Another epic intro! I really dug all of the airliners to tie in with the GMT complications and Bond-like music theme.
As always an informative review. Love your passion for watches and film. A must watch film to play spot the time pieces is THE BIG SHORT.
Again TGV, kind regards from Australia.
Rikki Dee
My AD just blessed me with the Batman GMT for my first Rolex. Almost fell out of my chair when I got the call lol
great video!! i just purchased not so long ago the batman/batgirl my next purchase will be the pepsi! loved learning the history about this watch
Just purchased the Batman, after a two year wait. Pairing with my no date sub. Perfect combo. IMHO
Best part is the solid link jubilee bracelet on the new GMT. No stretch over time
I could not agree more, they are amazing!!!!
I almost want to buy it for mine without the watch 😂😂😂
Thank you Jack,
Best regards,
TGV
I concur. This new Jubilee on the BLNR is absolutely perfect!
Great video. Yes Dark Knight is much more fitting name for it.
🙏😎 Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Your channel has inspired me to create my own...no idea yet how I can make it different or interesting to watch enthusiast but I am going to give it a go since it is a passion I can't get enough of. Thanks TGV!
I’m currently looking at GMT master 2’s and this is the video I needed 🙌🏾
Thank you once again.
A new video! Just what I needed! The batgirl is my only grail watch so far!
A very worth grail indeed!
I hope you get it.
Thank you my friend,
Best regards,
TGV
I concur with your conclusions and agree 100% that this BLNR blows away the Pepsi model. The forums have it wrong this is the one to buy! I plan on picking one up in a few years to celebrate a big milestone. Great review.
I agree. The forums totally have it wrong. This watch is the one!
It’s been top of my wish list since launch. Hopefully, my slot on my ADs wait list will come to the top of the pile soon 🤞
Agree. The only Pepsi that would interest me would be the meteorite - and I’d need some lottery luck for that. Very happy with my Batman.
Ive heard the expression "Strap Monster" but that S.O.E strap is defo a Watch Monster.
Good work fella.
Haha, thank you Rick! Honored and flattered.
Best regards,
TGv
Hi TGV
Surely impressing!
I suppose that women pilots already has been wearing Rolex GMT’s for years anyway😆
The Rolex GMT is still my ultimate grail watch and I’ll probably never get one.
Keep up the good work👍
Is seiko spb143j1 worth buying?
Love the new strap! Looks like I’m picking one up. The valour is still my favourite. Have you thought about having a seatbelt nato version of your collab? Hopefully soon and also thin.
What is that strap on the DW290?
@TheUrbanGentry video was great and loved how you focused on the BLNR jubilee GMT. The jubilee is absolutely perfect on the BLNR GMT. Makes the watch pop, so much more class, and separates it from the sub.
As other commenters mentioned, Bruce Wayne is perfect name for this watch.
Excellent video as always! Thank you for the content. Its so easy to forget about the all black GMT... or the two tone... They are relative bargins by comparison!
It's not a Batgirl, it's a Bruce Wayne !
I really enjoy your watch history videos like this. Love that GMT! Cheers
Love your channel! Enjoy the history you share along with highest production value. Why not call it the “Bruce Wayne?”
I like the Pittsburgh caliper you’re using there. I live in Pittsburgh and purchased that same one at the local Harbor Freight
I would love to see a video with you and Nikolaus Hirsch discussing watch straps.
i am not the biggest rolex guy,but i always look forward to and enjoy these shows.thanks
Was fortunate to be able to purchase one from my AD last year and although it doesn’t get much wrist time, I do love it when it’s on my wrist and the jubilee is super comfortable. Don’t really care what others call it, as I just call it Beautiful
Simply iconic. Always enjoy the mix of history and review
