    I fixed a 450$ timer board from Germany today. I learned EVERYTHING I needed to complete the job from Northridge Fix videos. You sir, are a hero in my eyes.

    Thumbs up, I applaud your professionalism. If it were me, there would've been a lot of expletive words used during when you jumped up from the power supply sparking, lol. Nice though, too bad the motherboard was all messed up.

    Made me jump! Not as bad as shorting out the B+ on a 6L6, but still made me jump! That connector is toast!! Glad you're okay!

    if something looks bad then I would expect it to be bad... melted power connectors can be really shocking! glad you escaped injury with this one... I wouldnt have trusted that power connector as it was melted, it kind of hinted at something was off, but fair play you kept your calm, no bad words, and your head didnt meet the ceiling when you jumped... its always more tricky with things that have been 'fiddled with' please stay safe as I enjoy the entertainment!

    That’s disgusting! The owner melts everything and doesn’t deserve to have that logic board great again ;-) never seen something so screwed up. Cheers up!

      Owner mentioned missing pad and component. I didn't expect that much damage

    I had a recent customer that said his RTX 3090 wouldn't fit in his system because of the water cooler. He stated that he tried to make it fit by going to some website and following the directions but afterwards the graphics card wouldn't work. I took the card and discovered that he thought the grommets that held on the passive heat plate were rivets. He tried to remove it by using a Dremel and grinded them off. Then used something to try and pry the active cooling heatsink, from the other side, off. He had destroyed so much of the board and tore off so many pads and components it was a Hiroshima times 10. He destroyed a $3000 card over a $120 cooling system. I suggested Northridge Fix. But, honestly, I don't think anyone could have fixed it. Especially with the ripped off VRAM chip with most of the pads missing. Totally insane.

    hi. Amazing work,
    my 27" iMac 2017 has 5 diagnostic LED light,
    in this case, 1 LED light would be for power and 2 would be communication between power and motherboard and 5 would be for display,
    then what would be 3 and 4 led? if u don't mind to explain about it.
    Thanks From Canada.

    You know what caused this?...to much diy videos. People think that is simple to fix anything just watching UA-cam.
    It happens to me more and more, people try to fix, make a disaster and then bring it to me, and everyone says they watched UA-cam:)
    You should charge them double, this is how I do.
    By the way, you skills are incredibly good!
    Keep up the good work!
    Thanks!

    You should try the iMac without the screen first. Once you know it is powering on, then time to plug the screen and see if you get a picture.
    That would save you from dying... ;-)

    Just to confirm; the wire you use is insulated but you don't need to scrape the ends off as the insulation will melt away by itself?

    • @NorthridgeFix
      @NorthridgeFix  5 років тому

      Wire not insulated. amzn.to/2EZLkge. It wasn't touching anything. I was going to mask it after i confirm iMac working.

    Why are you use too much of soldering Flux? Please Anawser

    • @wefukthenwo
      @wefukthenwo 5 років тому

      It's better to have too much than not enough. Not all flux is the same and some evaporate quicker because they are thinner/lighter so you need more. Use Rosin flux thinned out with alcohol and put into squeezer bottle like a zipper fuel bottle. It is cheap and works very well.

  • @Wayne-Jones

    Wow that was a mess, don’t know why people attempt these type of repairs. When the PCB is burnt it becomes conducive and consequently useless.

    Nice mess done by the owner. It was colossal damage he did. I mean why are you trying to do something like this without any knowledge and equipment for it? Now you have not mac and this could have been such easy job for a pro guy.
