An important clarification: the more convos we have in our scicomm creating adventure, the more we have learned how science terms may vary in their usage. The word *amoeba* could be used very specifically, when referring to the genus Amoeba, which is what we have drawn at 2:20. BUT, *amoeba* may also be used to refer to organisms that have "amoeboid movement/shape" and could then include the fascinating slime molds---or even the dangerous amoeba type mentioned at 4:07---and many other organisms. We actually did a poll on the way amoeba can be used differently here: twitter.com/AmoebaSisters/status/1106282061248323585
Amoeba Sisters hey pinky I always had this question which nobody seems to answer: why are pathogenic protists called “parasites”, while pathogen bacteria are never called that??
Hi amoeba sisters !!! From falling in luv with bio as a 7th grader &watching your videos from then till d current me preparing for medical entrance and still watching your videos is my amazing journey , thank u for all these videos and wish me luck !!!
My teacher doesn’t make a lot of sense, you guys make my lesson a LOT easier. I watch you every day, and am always staying curious. Love you sisters🧪🦠🧬
I want the Amoeba Sisters to have some sort of story arc where they explore their world and meet different microbes, protists, parasitic Amoebas, fungi, viruses, etc. Maybe even a backstory for them
"we gotta catch em all!" the slime mold sisters have the best jokes XD oops i meant amoeba sisters... im also here because of online school and I hope everyone is staying home safe!
GREAT drawings, Petunia! I loved the slug attacking the mushroom cap and the Bob Ross bit. I am surprised you didn't mention the parasite that takes over the rat's brain and makes it lose its fear of cats or the creepy fruiting body on the ant head. That stuff is creeeeeeepy! :) But fun video! Are you going to the immune system at some point? I think I'm crushing it (I hope) but for next year it'd be spiffy to have that video. ;-)
i jumped in excitement when they mentioned the highly lethal amoeba, i knew from the start that it was naegleria fowleri, primary amoebic meningoencephalitis is one of my favorite diseases due to it's rarity and mortality rate, there's so much we know yet so little. and it's common name is "brain eating ameoba"
it's one thing when your English isn't your first language and another things when you get like 50% of Biology content. But thanks for the video, it's more informative or easy to understand rather than a textbook
got here bcs of my teacher told me to write a reaction paper qwq and everytime she gives us an offline activity like this i always enjoy your videos, and i love the extra info you add :D this was so helpful!
Im experienced a lot of different situations in my life, well that just comes daily to me considering my job on a daily basis, I always assist and help people treat their problems, and I have come across a certain situation in these videos, I want to congratulate you two on a very noticeable celebration not only through the progress of videos but more importantly on all the subs, I would recommend doing a face reveal, so your subs can see the intelligence behind you two sisters, so if my advice means anything to you, well considering I have a high amount of intelligence and help people with problems on a daily basis, then you can just take my advice and show the viewers, the makers behind this voice.
Anyone doing the 10 facts here u are, thank me by liking so more people can see this comment. Most protists are unicellular but there can be some multicellular protists as well Protists are classified as Eukaryotes Amoeba move around by extending their Pseudopod Some have cell walls, others don’t Protists can be Autotrophs or Heterotrophs Fungi like protists are Eukaryotes Most fungi have cell walls made of carbohydrate called chitin Genetic wise, fungi are more related to animals than plants Don’t need sunlight for photosynthesis because they don’t do photosynthesis Fungi are heterotroph Like this, so people can see it from most liked please.
I would like to personally thank you guys for teaching me more than any of my science teachers have ever taught me since 6th grade. I would have failed many classes without you guys. Thanks so much! with love -ur pastel baby
