    I would have been more worried about that ramp making the front of the trailer open up the top of the fuel tank....
    Blind side reverse...... you nailed it.... get out have a look.
    I often take a glove with me. pace out how far of the dock I am. then put the glove on the ground where the cab is going to be in line with it, when the back of the trailer is close to the dock.
    There are a couple of docks we use regular where you're usually reversing into a low sun that's sitting just above the roof line of the warehouse. Everything else is just a black shadow.
    I'm often bewildered how many blind side docks we have here in Australia. I can see it in Europe where the vast amount of trucks are left hand drive but here it's just bad planning, or a lack of understanding by the architect.
    I had a go at a couple of "truck drivers " for having a laugh at a new bloke putting a B Double on a dock. Especially when one of their trucks had a big gouge along the fuel tank and bottom step... Hoers' !!!!!It's amazing how many people were born with the whole knowledge of the universe....
    Graffiti is just the same as dogs weeing on a tree.

      You’ll get there it’s just practice, some days are better than others for all of us no matter how long we’ve been doing it. A bit of a tip is to weigh the situation up as you go in or if you’re waiting for a bay, watch what line other drivers take.

    If you have to load there again, since they're willing to come outside and be helpful they might let you enter underground through the exit. Though of course you might first have to be able to explain to them in Spanish why it makes a difference (or make them watch the reversing process in this video!).
    The "senseless" graffiti is individuals' signatures. Everyone's basically writing "I was here" in artistic form.

    • @GBtrucklady
      @GBtrucklady  Місяць тому

      Yes maybe, I’ll need to practice my Spanish a bit more first I think.

    Blind sided. Hate it, but as you say, it happens to us all. I had to back my caravan onto a pitch. Luckily, the pitches opposite me were empty, so just drove the car on the opposite pitch, and then very slowly, reversed it back. When I was doing a quick lesson of towing the caravan, he said that you don't ever panic, and don't try and rush. When on a caravan site, people are watching and seeing what mess you get it into. He said, if you take it very slowly, it will go in, and people after a few minutes will not be bothered to watch, as slow reversers are actually more professional than those who try and do it quickly, you just get unstuck. And as you said, one of those same people could have helped, especially as I was on my own, so had no one to help back me in. I would do it for my hubby, and we were a good team😊

Tizzy is such a good word.🤣🤣 Slow and steady wins the race.🤔🤔 Quite agree, it's just as easy to help as it is to criticise, and in the end probably more rewarding. Beautiful piece of reversing, if I may say so.😂😂 Nice to see you have got some good weather and strangely enough we have had the sun out in the last two days. About time. Regarding that wagon picking up the 'bin' Sherralin, reminded when I was in the Army, and our unit was trialling this 'new' system in the early 1980's. Called DROPS, Demountable 'whatever' System? Cracking idea. A flatbed version could be loaded from an a/c onto a truck within mins. Flatbed loads of ammo etc, could be literally deposited anywhere in the battlfield, without forklift support etc, & the dvr scuttles off to further tasks. Sorry love feel like i have hijacked your station! Cracking vlog & by a side I hope your farmer son is no having too bad a time with the weather.

    I’ve done what you do on European work, fridges,flats,tilts,. And for the last 22 years untill I retired 18 months ago I did skips for a local recycling firm same as you observed, I had wagon & drag and it’s not a bad job, that driver had no rear window which makes the job difficult, we had rear windows in ours, for my last 7 years there I had an fh4 Volvo artic with a curtainsider trailer, no nights out for 22 years and good easy hours and mega wages, £15 p/hour time and a half on a Saturday, double time and a day in Lou Sundays and bank holls and a yearly 10% profit sharing bonus, holidays how and when you wanted to, I used to save all mine for a month off in December and get my bonus to so ended up with £2500 Holliday money and £2500 bonus (on a good year) also during covid got paid for holidays 30 days and wages as I didn’t actually take any holidays during the 2 years of covid, working for an own account company is way better than any haulage company,. Not as much glory as your job, but I’ve been there and done that and at the end of the day money matters,.

      @GBtrucklady  Місяць тому +2

      I’m single, my son and his family live 4 hours from me, we video call at least once-twice or maybe a hundred times a day 😂😂, so there’s no rush for me to go home, I go when I want to but just because I’m not home doesn’t mean I’m on duty though also it depends on what you see as social life. I do get time off in some interesting places and I explore towns I’m in or get public transport to cities near by.
      I don’t drink so sitting in a pub isn’t for me, I’m not a great eater so meals out are a waste of money, I love music but not keen on crowds so although I did do festivals when I was younger I’m not really interested now. I’m not a people person to be honest, I love wide open spaces, quiet hill tops, secluded beaches and tall trees in forests. I love my little garden, I love walking, which I can do anywhere and camping, which I can do on my own. I love motorbikes and speed (only when I’m in control😂). Do I miss my friends? I’ve never been one to have a lot of close friends but those I have I speak to regularly, one old very old friend in Scotland I wish I saw more of but that would be the same no matter what job I had.
