      A big parcel of land is up for sale southbound below J. 11a M1 alongside the motorway opposite the massive Lidl distribution distribution warehouse and it's a good investment for a modern truck stop, lodging hotel and a cafe. The area is in dire need for a modern facility with floodlit and concrete hardstanding for overnight rest and only 2 minutes off the M1.

    Great account of your day, Darren. 16:06 - is the Brent Cross Flyover, I remember it being built in 1965, long before continental size lorries were introduced. Did you notice the recently introduced weight limit for driving over it? Mobile display warning, another sign that you would not be able to read in time and sneaky little signs behind the cones? You actually drove on the official diversion for heavy vehicles. Keep 'em comin'!

    Good tips about looking at parking options, I've done the same then moved on.
    Pot noodles ?? Ok for back up if you're desperate, but keep the larder/fridge stocked when poss, and gas to make a hot drink - no 12/24v kettle ?
    Not being critical mate, not always possible to park to buy supplies when tramping - great blind side reverse there, calm and slow always does it ! 😀

      @@Life_of_Darren cheers Darren, I get what you mean about the 12v kettle being slow, good back up when raining and confined to cab. Like you I've been diverted unexpectedly and caught out near the end of the week with few supplies, when there is not even a chippy in sight, so always a few tins in stock since to lash something together. I wouldn't discount the pot noodles completely, at a pinch though - quick and no washing up. 😀

      Probably not a lot. General haulage (what this guy is going) pays shite and is long hours. Most pay £13PH. So assuming he gets paid for his breaks it will be around £200 for this shift. HGV driving is good and pays well (I do it) just not general haulage. Low pay for long Hours

    • @Life_of_Darren
      @Life_of_Darren  7 місяців тому

      It’s getting worse as well, especially around London areas. At times it’s next to impossible to take a 45 minute break due to double red lines everywhere and for sleeping the service stations are not big enough for the amount of trucks trying to park for the night

    • @tridens6708

    Let’s get this into perspective it’s 2024 and big whoppie £25 tax free ain’t cutting it especially if the cab is swapped about
    The average sized services are rammed after 6pm and offer shite fast food noisy and not even secure
    Then you can opt for industrial estate or rural parking with no wash facilities or a toilet
    Think of the thousands in fuel and lost time driving the big boys are saving
