Been retired for quite a few years now and it bought back memories of how i remember it. HGV driving is the only job i have had where the time goes so quick i often wished for a few extra hours in the day

A big parcel of land is up for sale southbound below J. 11a M1 alongside the motorway opposite the massive Lidl distribution distribution warehouse and it's a good investment for a modern truck stop, lodging hotel and a cafe. The area is in dire need for a modern facility with floodlit and concrete hardstanding for overnight rest and only 2 minutes off the M1.

Did you notice the recently introduced weight limit for driving over it? Mobile display warning, another sign that you would not be able to read in time and sneaky little signs behind the cones? You actually drove on the official diversion for heavy vehicles. Keep 'em comin'!

Cranbourne Road, potters bar was the first drop, and the 2nd one was park royal industrial estate. Delivered to both these places many times over the last 20 years. Watch yourself around Park Royal and NW10.. its a bit lively round there.

Just come across your channel and watched your video with interest (new subscriber), I hate driving in London, much credit to you for driving your truck and reversing it in to those tight spaces and not getting flustered by pushy other drivers.
Good tips about looking at parking options, I've done the same then moved on. Pot noodles ?? Ok for back up if you're desperate, but keep the larder/fridge stocked when poss, and gas to make a hot drink - no 12/24v kettle ? Not being critical mate, not always possible to park to buy supplies when tramping - great blind side reverse there, calm and slow always does it ! 😀

Like you I've been diverted unexpectedly and caught out near the end of the week with few supplies, when there is not even a chippy in sight, so always a few tins in stock since to lash something together. I wouldn't discount the pot noodles completely, at a pinch though - quick and no washing up. 😀 Just come across your channel - great, well narrated stuff !👍

Darren, Not in your class mate. Driven a 7.5t which I hired to move house myself. Packed solid it was and probably over weight. Didn’t like the way it swayed, especially around roundabouts. Gave me a very healthy respect for you guys do. Great vlog.
I'm a NHS worker for 15 years, And have had enough now of the NHS. I've been looking to do my class 1 HGV driving. What type of HGV work would you say is good to do. And is HGV work well paid?

Try the services then - engines revving, trailer changeovers, crashing and banging, reefers running, night trunkers shouting and having a laugh, all night long.
Probably not a lot. General haulage (what this guy is going) pays shite and is long hours. Most pay £13PH. So assuming he gets paid for his breaks it will be around £200 for this shift. HGV driving is good and pays well (I do it) just not general haulage. Low pay for long Hours
This is the crazy thing with being a truck driver. Since 2017 it has actually been against the law to sleep most places in ur truck. U can get a £300 fine.
It’s getting worse as well, especially around London areas. At times it’s next to impossible to take a 45 minute break due to double red lines everywhere and for sleeping the service stations are not big enough for the amount of trucks trying to park for the night
Let’s get this into perspective it’s 2024 and big whoppie £25 tax free ain’t cutting it especially if the cab is swapped about The average sized services are rammed after 6pm and offer shite fast food noisy and not even secure Then you can opt for industrial estate or rural parking with no wash facilities or a toilet Think of the thousands in fuel and lost time driving the big boys are saving
Why did you break the law by parking over a Public Right of Way? That was a designated, and marked/signed for PEDESTRIANS. And the rest of the estate, just look at all the vehicles parked, illegally, on the pavements. What happens to the disabled? Or do they not matter, even if they work on that estate?
It was all private parking for the business I was collecting from and not blocking any access, as for the other cars unfortunately they don’t give much room for wheelchair or pram access

As Biker yes there are some right wallys out there majority idiots on 2 wheels those food couriers all on L plates. As Motorcyclist legal to filter although it's about using some common sense don't do it down left side of coach or HGV risk being in Driver blind spot, half these numpty took test tried behaviour in video be instant failure on driving licence test. If I'm riding HGV trying get out I usually flash him pull out as too many arrogant individuals on 4 wheels won't give two hoots u wanting get out Darren.

Handed my keys in 31st of may, and was best decision I made. 18 years was enough for me! I Do not miss them roads at all..

I have a stove etc but only bring food for fridge for that day if going to cook, the 12v kettle takes forever to boil that’s the only down side

i could do this job driving forward all day. but the reversing would be too anxiety inducing.
You get used to it pretty quickly and becomes muscle memory before you know it
That van drive that kept edging forward was abit annoying when you was blind siding mate.
You get used to it after a while mate, it happens a lot more often than you would think

It was all private parking for the business I was collecting from and not blocking any access, as for the other cars unfortunately they don’t give much room for wheelchair or pram access
