Another trip down memory lane. I drove for a Pompey based outfit and we were on that boat all the time. Only one movement on or off back in those days allowed on your card.
All those fences and barbed wire make the place even more depressing lol. Used to be able to just park in the port and walk into town for a croque monsieur and a beer or two. How times change.

Enjoying your video Sherralin. I remember me and my hubby had got a cheap deal with one the national newspapers to take a day trip from Portsmouth to St Malo, and we travelled down from Manchester, and when approaching Portsmouth, the heavens opened. The rain was coming sideways on. It was horrific and like yourself, it was dark. We parked the car in the 24 hour car park, and embarked on the ferry, and next day, it docked in St Malo with fabulous blue sky. Although, being January, it was absolutely freezing cold. Have never felt cold like it. Just fortunate that I was given a present from a friend who had visited Canada, and had given me a winter coat. That really did the trick🤣

I enjoy these port videos. It is really fascinating to watch. Our expressways here in Japan are tolled too and the automatic gates are labelled 'ETC' and the cash/credit card gates are labelled ’一般' (Ippan=ordinary). ETC are coloured purple and the 'ippan' are coloured green. We have to have a unit fixed in our vehicles in which an ETC card is inserted which is a card issued by your credit card company along with your credit card. Whilst in reality most people go through at 30 km/h or above, the actual speed limit for us is 40kmh on approach and 20km/h through the gate. The police will often stand at the gates and catch offenders red-handed. Interestingly, the Tokyo Metropolitan highway is restricting a lot of exits and entrances (there isn't always both an exit/entrance at the same location) to the highway to ETC only. What people without ETC do I cannot imagine. It seems a bit daft to me.

Love the trip, you mentioned in a previous video about interrupting your 45min brake just for a very short movement distance or time period say two minutes legally and adding adding this time on the end of the 45 , as example in the past i moved truck a few minutes into 45 and restarted my brake over again , if you get chance can you mention it again, thanks and stay safe.
I’m not quite sure what you mean.
If you are stopped for a 45 min break and then let’s say after 7mins you need to move, (provided you have driving time left before you needed the break), no matter how far, you will then need to start your 45 min again. If however you have had more than 15 mins but less than 45 mins when you move, you will only need to have 30 mins after moving because you can split a 45 min break into a 15 min and a 30 min. Hope that helps.

Well I'm in trouble with all those colors. Thank fully in the US, the red is on top and the green is on bottom. There goes my dream of being a UK driver. Course I'm 85 and they will get pissy anyway! Love your videos. Keep up the good work but how about 25 minutes or so.

The entrance to the dock would have been better to have a green arrow pointing Right ? as its to much to read in a short time lol It had got a green light on the right balcony ? but the sign distracted you from looking up ? ( Well it did me lol ) Did you make Irun in one shift ? Is the Truck Stop / filling station / cafe just over the boarder still there ? Its many years ago that i was down that way, All the best.

Hi, you need to get a spray with 50% DEET in it. If you’re in the UK, Boots sell their own brand, spray or roll on, which is a bit cheaper. The spay smells a lot when first done but the smell goes almost immediately. I’ve tried everything, this is the only thing that has ever worked for me. Have a great time. 😁
