I bought this model 2 weeks ago as my first handgun ever after doing a ton of research. Being a czech guy in america, I can say I absolutely love it after the first 100 rounds thru it! My next 1 will be SPO shadow 2 with blue or orange grips. Love me my cz :)
When I got to shoot my CZ97B, I was amazed at how well it shot and how smooth it was. Your comments on its performance were right on target. What I didn't know was how to field strip it for cleaning so thank you very much for the video.
It’s better than the sig and colt .45’s!I just ordered mine awhile back and it hits flush with low recoil and best accuracy.Shoots like a 9mm to me.The follow up shots are great & I’m a cz pistol guy for life. The Remington 877 double pump shotgun is another story. Both are the best for self defense and range shooting.I love the wood grips and saved them for souvenirs.Replaced them with black aluminum thin grips for added grip.My wife can shoot it as well!Great for anyone!
Nice succinct summary, I appreciate you didn't have a lot of extraneous "uuuummmmm" filler. However, with my CZ97 on the table in front of me, I can state the later iteration with the updated feed ramp and the longer spring guide rod doesn't require a dropped hammer to remove the slide after the cross pin is removed. I was NOT aware the previous version required dropping the hammer, that's a "thing" about Glocks that always bugged me a bit (striker/hammer, whatever, pull the trigger to field strip is ass). Speaking of G words, my favorite 45 ACP up until acquiring my CZ 97 has been my 1993 vintage G21. I upgraded the target sights to Meprolights as part of carrying it for over ten years, and it's still the pistol I'm most accurate with. However good the ergos on the Glock are for my sized hands, my CZ 97 has replaced it as my favorite range toy. The downside to the CZ is the sights, which aren't as good as a stock Glock with plastic sights - across my CZ 75 40 S&W and the EAA Witness 9mm - so I'm looking to upgrade. That would be an interesting video topic, especially since the factory fiber optic "upgrade" is stupid/fragile. Thanks again for a solid utility video and an insight into what has been improved on over the last 20 years (damn that hurts to say!).
Geeze, sorry to be pedantic, but for CZ's with the takedown indicators, I find it much easier to use my left hand with thumb through the triggerguard and fingers over the top of the slide so I can use my right hand with a polymer pusher (AR pin pusher) to bump the crosspin out.
@@BrianFulmer I'm sorry, but when was there a timer associated with field stripping? Are those two seconds going to change your life? For the record, I own and enjoy many manufacturers' weapons, including CZ Glock Sig and H&K. Not "fan boi" of any brand.
I have the longer guide rod and my spring doesn't look like this. I don't have to drop the hammer. I was surprised to see the spring bent up like that. I wonder if you can just get the longer guide rod and not have to drop the hammer. (no idea)
Nice looking Pistol! I've noticed that you don't have the serrations in the front so I guess this was produced in the late 90's or early 2000's. Would a full size guide rod works for these types of pistol? Have to shoot it with hollow points? Did you get any feeding problems? I am on the fence of either getting this new or a slightly used Sig P220. Thanks!
Great vid. is there a reason that the magazine doesnt seat flush into the mag well? is this a problem on the 97b? I noticed you attempting to seat it a couple times without success at the end of the video. love the 97b. currently in the markt for a post 2013 (i think?) model with the aluminum slim grips.
ASV - That is typical of the CZ97B's. I have both the model you see in the video and a the newer version with the grips you refer to and both seat the magazine the same way. BTW, I wasn't actually trying to seat the mag like you describe, I was trying to align the gun in the frame of the video. Though, I can see how it may have looked otherwise. Thanks for posting your question!
@@jagenarmory3208 thank you for the reply / clarification. I love CZ pistols and I can’t wait to get a 97B. CA doesn’t “allow” the 97BD variant. Ironically, the only (major) thing that’s been changed is the de-cocking feature, meaning; in our overloards infinite wisdom, the safer version of the pistol is “not allowed.” I would love to see a side-by-side grip / width comparison between the 2 grip styles (wood vs aluminum) on the 2 97’s that you have. I’m a red-blooded American male, so the Sainted JMBrowning 1911 model Colt m1a1-2 that my Granddad carried in WW2 is my favorite .45 forever and always. ……But, if I wasn’t, it would be the CZ97. Thanks for the great content.
Emilio, they are both completely different from one another. Your question is kind of like asking if chocolate ice cream is better than pistachio. They're both good and very different at the same time. My suggestion would be to try to find each to shoot or tryout. Many gun ranges have firearms that you can rent and may have these in stock. too. On a personal note, when it comes to 1911's, I prefer series 70 models (the ones WITHOUT the firing pin block). Not to say that series 80 models aren't good, they are very good and I own a few. It's just a personal preference.
I appreciate the concise instructions. It was a huge help to me when I got my CZ97!
I just got this gun. It is a beautiful gun. Looks better in the hand than in photos.

Your video is awesome. Straight to the point and far from boring. Thank you.
Excellent video sir!! Very clear and to the point, and extremely well spoken. My new 97B just got delivered to my FFL today, can’t wait to shoot it

Why would having to pull the trigger be an issue during field stripping? Is this costing you time you don't have to spare?
Geeze thin skinned Glock fanboi much?

Super lifesaver!
Takedown is similar to my S&W model 469, if been looking at the 97BD to ad to my collection

Cz 97 is it good for left handed people
I like it i just hate that the reload is so far.
Why doesn't this 97/B also have knurling on the front of the carriage and others do?
Hey John, this particular CZ97B is an earlier version of what is currently available. The current iteration has the knurling you describe.

Which is the better? Cz 97b or colt 1911 government serie 80

@@jagenarmory3208 thx. For your time
There's one more reassembly step you left out. There is something you need to flip inside.
I’ve never seen a guide rod that (little )\baby before
my springfield 1911 range officer guide rod is the same length .
Older pistols had this. In the 80s and 90s, longer guide rods became a thing.
No need to drop hammer to remove slide
We know. As he said, "it creates a little more clearance."
