Just bought an ‘01 limited 4wd w/ dif lock(fully stock setup). I have been binging all your videos and I’m really looking forward to diving into some mods. Thanks for all the great info!
Excellent videos! For a long time I've been wishing for a 4runner, saving for it has been a real challenge but you videos keep me motivated on one day being able to have my own off road adventures.
I know its an older vid but just saw your channel. Just wanted to share my 3rd gen (4 cylinder)Last summer I was in between homes for a minute (kinda embarrassing I know) . Before finding my new place after selling my home & getting the check cut to me, I was spending a lot on hotels. So I started camping at a local forest reserve with power hook up. I had a window a/c unit from my old garage, it fit nicely in the rear roll down window in my 3rd gen, & made a cardboard cut out to take up the gap. I am 6ft., and slept great! with only 1 side of the rear seat folded down. I have always own older cars (VW Beetles, Datsun Z's & 510's, e30 325 BMW). This is my 1st Toyota & 1st 4 Runner. After last summer I REALLY fell in love with it. I now work out of it daily & thinking of making some sort of slant drawers in it for my tools & other things. It has 232k on the engine. The oil looks as good as it did 3000 miles ago when I change it, like honey. I have come across a few 4 cylinders at local junk yards, and having built other engines, I plan of snatching up another one, rebuilding it and having it ready to go. I towed a trailer a few weeks back for the first time & it surprised the hell out of me how well it towed. I now understand how everyone else with a 3rd gen feels about there 4 runner. Whereas before, I didnt understand. It really is a part of my family and they are still EVERYWHERE on the roads in the part of Tennessee I live in. Hands down the most: reliable, over built, long lasting, timeless styling, workhorse Toyota ever has and ever will have made. I got it running, for $800.00. Led a train of Me, a Benz, E46 BMW (non-M3), Mustang on the way to work awhile back at 90-120mph and it was smooth as glass with a bit of a Mad-Max feeling. Doesnt creek, rattle, squeek, nothing. Solid as a Rock at 232k miles. I would like to build a kinda Pre-Runner/ baja 1000 style one next. I've picked up some trd fender flares & those cool longer style mud flaps. Plan on welding up a roof rack. I better stop because everyone reading this has one too & knows exactly how I feel. Take Care All.
PhoRunner Channel Also, I’ve watched both of your videos on your cargo system, and I don’t think you mentioned this but I could be wrong, what adhesive did you use for carpeting it? Spray adhesive with staples on the side?
Man, how did I missed this. Always great to watch. Love the eggs at the end 😊. I still have to build mine.. Have all the slides but not getting the time to start.. hopefully I’ll be able to get mine done sooner than later
Hey can you do a video on your power management system? Do you run a separate battery and an isolator for the fridge? Great channel btw, been very helpful
Yup I got videos on these. I run a solar panel for the fridge. I really need to get a deep cycle battery lol. I have a bluesea system for the power. I’ll probably be upgrading soon to a switch pro thing. A sponsor sent me one to try out.
@@PhoRunner Thanks. Your videos are exceptionally good. I really enjoy watching them. I am really interested in this off road modified 3th gen 4runners
Looks good! I'm about 75% done with the cargo portion on mine (and used your first video as my guide). For your side flaps, I noticed in your first video that you used piano hinges to keep them attached to the main top. Most of the other videos I've seen put the hinges on after they've placed the carpet on first. I like how yours is hidden, though. Was it difficult to get the carpet to cover those hinges, and it looks like you wrapped the carpet around the sides of the main top and the side flap (of each), right?
I have a problem on my 2000 4runner where i snapped the rod behind the ignition lock cylinder, can you please do a video on how to take it apart and get to the piece stuck inside?
Looks great. I want to build one very similar. What was the deciding factor going from the double drawers to single drawer? Allowing for a bigger false top / sleeper platform?
@@PhoRunner Thanks for replying. I am interested in 4runner or Surf and I like the way you reformed to use off road. In addition to the suspension, shocks, control arms, tyres and LED bars. Is it possible to add 2 rear seats, 2 drawers under seats, second fuel tank and spare tyre bracket or mount on the rear door.
Love your channel and great ideas BUT the refrigerator and slider takes up way too much space just to keep cold drinks in!!. I’m using just a removable cooler!! But still very cool indeed!!
Hi Do you need some great lighting for your cars to help you better driving, off-road. We're the pro auto lighting manufacturer for nearly 20 year and we're looking for sponsorship!
Is the cargo storage top still 3/4” ply like the previous builds (with the false top/sleeper portion being 1/2” ply)? I’m wondering if I could get away with using 1/2” ply for the top of the storage box portion or if 3/4” is advised
Removing the bottom portions of the rear seats grants you about 3-4 extra inches, you would probably be right at the limit but it’s worth a shot! Other content producers on youtube have sleeper set ups with extra fold outs for when taking out the rear bottoms
I didn't see that last clip until now.. Had those big tires stuffed in the back!
Lol a little rub…

4Runners definitely rock! Thx ask for the read
Great video from a master baiter!
Lmao

Gorilla adhesive works good
I used your design for my ‘99 4Runner and can’t thank you enough! So many good times this summer using the setup 🙏
Glad you like it!
@@PhoRunner What is the ply size for the drawer? Previous videos show 1/2, asking incase you changed to 3/4
1/2
Great build! Thank you!
Anytime!!
Very Nice!
Thx

Nice!!! This is my favorite build!
Good job. Thank you for sharing.
Any time!
great ideas thanks. Really like your style of videos. Can you do a video on sway bar end link and sway bar bushing replacement?
Perhaps in the future! If you check some of my lift videos, you’ll see it partially in there
Great video! Are you planning to make a How To video with dimensions for your Cargo Build #3? Would love to get details on the construction. Thanks.
Hmm I think I do have a video to get you an idea of this build.
I did modify it a bit though to get to this

Fresno.

Not difficult at all. Keep her hidden!
Yes I wrapped it around then trimmed it so it is carpet face to plastic panel.

I'm not sure how myself. Maybe replace the whole thing?

Fitting larger items. I still love the double and it makes it stronger in the middle :)
Is there pre built system you recommend? I’ve been looking for the ARB style but can’t find it
I haven’t seen too many for 3rd gen that are prefab
Just like this of your
thx

3/4” topper still

I really wish I could do this with my 3gen, but I’m 6’1” so sleeping inside the vehicle is not a comfortable option 😔
Sorry bud ! You could remove the seat and it might work!
