I am absolutely loving this. keep up the awesome work. i do have one possible suggestion. could we get a wolf personal companion? i saw we can get a bear mascot.
Thinking of making that the focus of the next dev log: the factions, unit variety, unit trees, etc. Maybe giving some examples of different builds too. There's a lot for the min-maxers to play with lol.
I think that you should be able to: 1. Pick a custom color for their uniforms 2. Make it so that the primary color of their uniforms can be changed I just think it would be neat
“Uhh, general, are you sure a bear is a wise idea? There are other animals that can represent the army that aren’t as… dangerous. . .” “What do you mean it isn’t a wise idea! We’ll have it drink alcohol and it will be fine! Our men can handle it.” *in the background, four soldiers are trying desperately to keep the bear from escaping its constraints without getting mauled.*
Thanks to the customization posibilities being very extensive, not only does it might add to the immersion to have differently coloured uniforms (to differency regiments/units), but you also feel much closer to your army, unlike in Napoleon Total War where all I could change was the name of a unit, and they all looked the same. Overall, it feels very complete! Amazing job! I wonder though, will the game be modding-friendly? If so does that imply I could potentially add custom icons/patterns? (If yes, I can't wait to bring Napoleonic designs earlier than they should've been!)
I love it all: only thing id like to see, is a return to the system of different formations rhat was used initialy: units could be changed to switch if they default to 4, 3 or 2 ranks. My understanding was colums were almost never used in this period with an overwhelming focus on linear formations. Plus genraly the movement is very flowly: during this period there was a lot of skill for commanders to manevour their units to different angles and this would defo be a fun element of the game, making it more punishing to be cought out of position. Plus it would allow further customization through levels of training in drill, with better drilled units being more maneuverable.
That no quarter will be lovely for the melee only units. I can't wait for its release and someone add either Spain or an Americas campaign (the irregulars of the hispanic new nations were quite skilled on machetes and spears. And in the Bolivarian campaign specially there were a time where no quarter were given by both sides until they brokered an agreement, which became a prototype of what we know as International Humanitarian Law).
Totally possible to do! You can also of course rename your officers to have Italian names! Your regiments can also be renamed and they will only display the name you set them as.
Already feel like what ya'll have currently shown off would work great with Pike an Shot all the way to maybe WW1 as expanded Eras or future sequels/expansions, keep up the great work!
If this game is successful, you should try doing a game with a battle brother's style campaign. It feels like you could create something as revolutionary as mount and blade.
The original idea was to do a mount and blade style campaign with total War style battles, but we lack the budget right now. So its definitely something we want to build up to.
Those options for customization and upgrades should have been in TW games a long time ago. I endorse it and I will certainly try it when the game launches.
Hi there! Just a teeny tiny bit of input, in 2:35 a papal emblem is shown. Now the papal coat of arms shown is that of Pope Francis, the current Pope. I think for the purpose of immersion, the coat of arms should that be of Pope Benedict XIV who was Pope at the start of the seven years war.
@@armchairhistoryinteractive2046 Don´t forget the tiara! There was this triple crown worn by popes, called tiara and it was present on all papal coats of arms, the generic ones and personal ones of a specific pope. This tiara ceased to be worn in the 60s but remained in the personal coats of arms until the pontificate of Pope Benedict XVI, who was elected in 2005. He replaced the tiara on his coat of arms with a mitre, the pointy bishops hat. Pope Francis followed in his footsteps, that´s why it is lacking in the game. So no matter which pope you choose, in the 18th century there would be a tiara in the coat of arms.
They're gonna keep the timespan on the Seven Years War, but if the game does well they might add a DLC/update for the North American Theatre (the French and Indian War)
I cant wait for this! Ah man if this game is successful it'll open many many doors for other historical titles by you! I hope this will be succesful and have a good day Griffin!
I would be so happy if you could also customize the entire uniforms colors. I always wanted to play a shogun 2 campaign with the avatar conquest veteran system, this game has got me hella hyped.
Unfortunately you won't be able to color the entire uniform, because we do want to keep the game grounded in history with each nation having their authentic uniforms. That being said, there are some units like Hussars who CAN be completely recolored because they wore bright and varied colors historically. So it'll be a bit of a mix!
Man this is like a Kriegsspiel Video game. Btw did you guys use Kriegsspiel as something to base the game on? Considering it is a Prussian Wargame, made by Prussian strategists for Prussian Generals in the early 1800s?
I'm a bit late. This is a very interesting period but it is rarely adapted into videogames. A period perfect for strategy-games. If the game is successfull will it make an eccelent base for expanding the game. For inspiration for events and items, widen the scope and look not only the to the 1700s (and 1800s) for inspiration. Combinations of unit types and/or items might cause events or modifiers. I would also suggest contacting the knowledgeable UA-camr and re-enactor Brandon F. and his organisation The Native Oak.
That's been a popular request. I think realistically we could try and implement a system where you can upload a flag but I don't think we'll have time for a custom drawing tool.
I love everything you have done for this game, the art, the detail, the vision, locking for inmersion, but ... just one thing, the realtime battles, I can't imagine myself enjoying it for long, I still remember hundreds of hours playing battles in Total War games, and just recently the ultimate general battles, you cant release a game with battle grafics from 1990 in 2D. even the grand tactician, poor graphics on units but in a 3d enviroment and free camera. i mean, American Conquest Divided nation from 2003 battles, looks better. I hope you can do it, I really want to enjoy this game as much as you have worked for it.
There will only be 5 factions (Prussia, Russia, Austria, France and Britain) but there will be some units representing other countries (like the Hannoverian units in the British Army)
This is probably a stupid question I already know the answer to but do you know if one day, some day, you might be able to make this game available to mobile?
The emblem you call Hungarian, is not really a hungarian one. The right side of it, is the Bohemian coat of arms, and in the middle, its the austrian emblem. So its a Habsburg emblem, but only partly Hungarian.
Does master of command 7 years war let you do whatever you want? Like can you Pretty much use any strategies and tactics that you can think of no matter what they are? Even if they weren't specific to that time period?@@armchairhistoryinteractive2046
