Hi Billy I agree 100% with your choice of only going the height of the bookcase cupboards, if it was fully panelled the entire height of the bookcases it will make the library very dark, I know originally librarys were fully panelled but today's taste is slightly different so putting your stamp on it will make the space way more welcoming. No matter what you decide you will have divided thoughts but at the end of the day this is your convent and you need to have what you like. I hope Gwendaline and the boys are well, sending you lots of love xxxx
The trim and wainscoting look fantastic! I was happy to hear you say you're plasterboarding then attaching the paneling to it. Much cleaner and more energy efficient. That's how we would do it. You're meticulous in your work, Billy, and it shows in the finished product. It's such a pleasure watching you (et al) putting the convent back together! Bravo 👏👏👏
Years ago I worked retail in the pillow area! They came in big boxes that looked like they would burst! So if you needed 6 or more you would open the top and stand back! Poof! Because there was no way getting them back in the box what with the slippery plastic ! 😂 🎉
I personally like this idea of just having the paneling on the bottom only, it will allow more freedom of design or changing up the designs in future years
Thank you for the combination explanation/demonstration that you use to convey to us an accurate idea of where you are going with the revised concept for the library decor plan. I agree with your approach and the two-fold rationale that you laid out. You have a real gift for envisioning how these elements will combine and complement each other. By the way, the music you chose absolutely drew me into the episode... the way that you and Yanis work cooperatively, respecting each other; your craftsmanship and attention to detail; and your focus on communicating with your viewers. Genuinely heartwarming.
I’d say Yanis is just as Blessed to have made such wonderful friends who have taken him under their wings and made him a part of their beautiful family and introduced him to many wonderful useful trades. Blessings all around, I’d say
Billy, I trust your style sense! Thanks for always explaining things so well! Also, don’t let the Karen’s out there drag you down! You know what’s going on!❤
Yes I think your new vision is terrific. When you hang pictures on the plaster board they should show up better than if they were on the wood panels. It's OK to change your mind on how to do things, because once you get into a project and stuff starts coming together you may start to see things on a different level.
Love the idea of the wood not going all the way up. You can do a lot with the paint color that you put with the wood to make it a cozy library feel…even though the library is huge and two story. ❤❤❤❤❤
The picture of the rich tapestry or fabric in the paneling is very appealing, too Billy. I'm sure we will just love whatever you end up choosing! We have so far!
Billy, your UA-cam channel is one of my favourite! Eagerly look forward your next post no matter the content. Merry Christmas to you and your extended family and friends.
LOVE the idea of having “open” (non-paneled) areas around the library. You can paint them a great color, and have some paintings/pictures around. I think if you bring the paneling all the way up and around, you will end up with a darker room (you could still hang paintings/pictures). It’s really exciting watching the library come together!
If you use a dimmer switch for your shelf, LED lighting, it would give the possibility to raise the brightness on that shelf above and below when looking for a specific book, and could be turned back down to dim afterwards. The creation of rectangle open space between the cabinets would be wonderful. It would make the room look much larger and open. Light would be able to reflect and brighten the room much more than if used only panel. Great show ! Thanks
The rectangle detail would be beautiful and very elegant. Love the idea of painted murals within as long as it is cohesive with the chapel colors. I love the things you can do with lighting to create moods and accents.
3000K leds will give the room a buttery look. I’ve used Hafele in the past. Easy to assemble, plug and play….but somewhat pricey. Remote control can set different lighting scenes within the room with built-in dimmer. You’ll need a step down transformer from 208V to 24V. These led lights are really energy efficient. They use about 1/10th -1/20th the power than an incandescent or fluorescent requires.
I think your plan to panel only a waist high portion of the library will give it a lot of character I'm so glad that you have a "game plan and not a set plan" (another youtuber's saying) that allows you to reevaluate as you progress.
Heys guys, great videos, keep the motivation going. My own home remodel project is nothing compared to the convent , but my project is stressful and i appreciate watching your continued inspiration, Take care and many blessings. From California
Going to be awesome either way but like the idea of only some of the wall covered with wood. Gives you more options. See you tomorrow Billy!! Looks great so far!
YAY, back in the Library 😊. Loving the new plan for this room. Half paneled with architrave finishes will look amazing. Fully paneled might have a bit much, but with the addition of some fabric/tapestry or even papered infills, it will look stunning
Billy… I have to tell you that if I ever bought a chateau to renovate in France I would have you do the renovation because you are such a perfectionist and I love that.
Usually the molding can be used as a chair rail on top of the wainscoting. Sort of a bumper piece that can take a solid bump of the chairs moving back into the wall.
For whatever reason, I see a beautiful wallpaper around the room above the wood panels, a deep maroon red floral like pattern on a cream background. I think you had some in the chateau in the room you finished a few months back. Anyway, it all looks great! 😁Keep cracking on!👍
You are a true artist Billy - I love the way you reward yourself and build your vision by putting the panels up and the light in the cupboard so that you can SEE what it is going to look like. Tradesmen just build things but you are building your vision. great to watch. Brown shelves EVERYTHING about the 70-s was ugly! IMHO
Love the new plans for the library. Please can we have some glorious colour in the library? It is a place of learning, luxury and inspiration, so it would be lovely to find a paint colour that elevates the feeling in the room. Beware of too much light in the bookcases, paper and leather will fade just like sunshine does to other objects. 🙂
A paneled wainscoting, a warm paint colour on the top, will set off the oak wood, make the giant room feel more cozy. Some comfy chairs in little groups, were people can sit visit with a coffee or tea, or a cold beer
Having the paneling only part way up allows the bookcases to look “ grander”. If murals are decided for the walls, painting them on fabric that is then mounted to the wall space might be easier. The murals could be painted off site instead of in situ. Just a thought. Whatever you decide upon, I know it will be splendid!
Love the idea of all the running trim Billy❣️ Adding material or wallpaper, above the panelling, would be superb. I’m a finish carpenter and I also envision oak crown with returns on the top trim that will surround the bookcases. It will make the bookcases look even grander than they are already. Love watching the progress ☺️.
Billy it's going to look incredible with all the oak trim work in. I'm a lifelong bibliophile & cannot wait to see beautiful books in there. Would still love to see a rich deep colour on the plaster walls.
it will make it lighter in the library if you use off white colors and there will be much less strain on your eyes . wainscotting is beautiful and makes a room look smaller and more cozy. All the best to you !
I see your point about the wall and I totally agree. It does look much better than it would look if the whole thing was covered with paneling. Saves a bit of money too. It's cheaper to put up the sheet rock than it is to have oak paneling. Very cool move! Thanks for sharing!! ❤❤👳♀️❤❤❤ 😊
The half panels idea sounds excellent. It will also give you much more freedom for decor pieces and paintings that you might find in your antiquing adventures. You will not only be able to display the books that you find but also paintings, mirrors, tapestries, the list is endless. I am all for more antiquing (especially with Ryan) and more freedom in your Decor choices.
I think that the new plans are more in with keeping with the period of the times and will be beautiful as well. It is going to look great Billy. You have a wonderful day
Billy, you are doing a fantastic job in the library. I really like the new direction you are taking with the library. Maybe paint the plaster board with a dark green or dark red. Something to make the oak paneling to pop.
I think the changes are going to be beautiful no matter if you go with a mural or fabric. It will lighten the room and make more decadent versus heavy but warm and cozy. I love the new changes.
I really like Wainscotting. It's about 1/3 the total height of the walls. It's warm & protects the wall where it might get scuffed up by chairs or furniture. Can't wait to see the finished job!
Wow! things are looking great! Does insulation and plasterboard being so “efficient and air tight” cause problems for the breathing ability needed for the limestone?
Chair rail high paneling with plasterboard on top will allow light to reflect. Making it cozy feeling in the library. I think that is a great idea plus it's a little cheaper.
I think a room completely paneled makes the room look smaller. May I suggest a decorative moulding around the top of the walls - 17th century plaster style - perhaps a vine of oak leaves for instance. Small, tasteful, and appropriate to the age of the building. Of course, if you have a family crest, you could place a plaster shield at each corner of the room. Fun huh?
I love the idea of going for the wainscoting and moulding rather than fully panelling the room. It gives you a chance to step away from all the neutrals (I do love neutrals, but too much will have you feeling like you’re living in a beige box!) and that library is screaming out for a dark academia aesthetic, with maybe a deep green or even a Roman clay wall colour to give all that oak the gravitas it deserves ❤
Ooh 😮 love the sound of the lower level panelling. That will keep the lovely light and airy gmfeel and the bookcases and panelling will really shine against the plasterboard/paint 👌
Billy, you are brilliant! I admire you as you know what you want and you know how to achive it. You'll have a blessed life. Keep up the excellent work and look forward to your next issue. Cheers, from another (not so brilliant) Bill in California.
I love that you have the ability to try things and change your mind. So you are picture-framing the cabinet area, which will look incredibly rich. Yanis, please wear your work boots on the job site! Don't want you getting hurt!!!
I enjoy watching your channel as you move forward with each project. Also how the library evolves as you progress. It is great that you are able to pivot and make changes to your original ideas when a better one comes to mind.
Hello there from Missouri in the USA. We watch you every day. We as in my 3 year old granddaughter. She Loves Yanis very much by the way. She has been sick with a stomach flu for several days. In the US we call the waist high paneling - Wainscoting. I think it’s a brilliant solution. It will be beautiful and probably cost less.
Anyone else enjoy watching the insulation "rise" as it is freed from the packaging?
😊
Yes!!! LOVE it!!!
Years ago I worked retail in the pillow area! They came in big boxes that looked like they would burst! So if you needed 6 or more you would open the top and stand back! Poof! Because there was no way getting them back in the box what with the slippery plastic ! 😂 🎉
Definitely! The expanding rock wool always reminds me of whole wheat bread dough rising.
I live for it!!! Florida USA!
Evidently, I do. I watch every time. What am I doing with my life?😂
I approve of your plans especially the wainscotting around the bottom. You may proceed! LOL
😊
I personally like this idea of just having the paneling on the bottom only, it will allow more freedom of design or changing up the designs in future years
The lighting on the shelves is great. LEDs on dimmers is perfect. I love your creative thinking, Billy.
Thank you for the combination explanation/demonstration that you use to convey to us an accurate idea of where you are going with the revised concept for the library decor plan. Yanis is really a hard worker. You are lucky to find someone like that.
Yanis is also a lucky young man doing a job he obviously loves with a great boss
Who treats him well and respects him 🎉
I’d say Yanis is just as Blessed to have made such wonderful friends who have taken him under their wings and made him a part of their beautiful family and introduced him to many wonderful useful trades. Blessings all around, I’d say
Billy! That change alone will make the library so warm and inviting! Wow!
Billy, I trust your style sense! Thanks for always explaining things so well! Also, don’t let the Karen’s out there drag you down! You know what’s going on!❤

Sorry. Couldn't disagree more. The panel continues to the roof is standard. Ever since paneling was invented.
Otherwise you have drafts.
I also agree with the partial height oak walls. This will make the bookcases stand out much more and make them the focal point.
Billy, your UA-cam channel is one of my favourite! Eagerly look forward your next post no matter the content. Merry Christmas to you and your extended family and friends.

Any plan you have Billy any ideas you change are going to be FANTASTIC.
It’s going to be warm and wonderful when it’s completed.
Wow I love that idea of the little squares with tapestry or paintings. So cool!!

Didn't know they had dimmer switches for LED lights....but I'm s blonde
.. so carry on. Or crack on 😊
The rectangle detail would be beautiful and very elegant. Love the idea of painted murals within as long as it is cohesive with the chapel colors. I love the things you can do with lighting to create moods and accents.
Having a scrapyard may have been your boyhood dream........but building us a dream library seems to be your destiny!
It's going to look amazing Billy. Oh and I loved your choice of music today 🙂
Yanis and billy you both are an inspiration to us all.❤
Warm white LEDs would look great. Dimmers would take it up yet another notch.
3000K leds will give the room a buttery look. I’ve used Hafele in the past. Easy to assemble, plug and play….but somewhat pricey. This will be a beautiful space. I'm looking forward to the further episodes.
I agree having the paneling waist high makes so.much sense. That way you also have room for art. You can do rotating artists showings
OMG you are doing an INCREDIBLE job Billy a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your beautiful family as well!
Love the half high panels! You are doing a fantastic job Billy!

It's like you're 'tucking the convent in' to make it nice and cozy. Great forward thinking. It's going to be amazing.
Love this comment❤

Oh, I like the idea of the idea of the trim as an open rectangle above the glass doors. Very French, very detailed.
IMHO
Really like your adapted plans re walls/panels!
❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻
The trim would complement the bookshelves very well.
Hi Billy I love how the design evolves with the build. Also your new plan with the panelling sounds fantastic. Thanks for sharing
The half wainscoting will look so elegant. For the upper half: wallpaper? Paint? Plastering and tapestries?
Love the progress!
Ohhhh…hand painted murals! That would be gorgeous.
Another job for Michael to paint!❤️

Billy, I would agree with your dry walling v. all oak. Little by little you are making headway! 🎄
It's really starting to come together!
Love the idea of all the running trim Billy❣️ Adding material or wallpaper, above the panelling, would be superb. I’m a finish carpenter and I also envision oak crown with returns on the top trim that will surround the bookcases. It will make the bookcases look even grander than they are already. I agree with using a fabulous paint color like deep sage green and using the trim pieces to border the color.
Billy it's going to look incredible with all the oak trim work in. I'm a lifelong bibliophile & cannot wait to see beautiful books in there.
Would still love to see a rich deep colour on the plaster walls.

Can't wait to see the library finished. Giving me inspiration for my own Library

Billy you are such a perfectionist. A man after my heart.
I agree the full oak panels would be too much and could make the room too dark!
I think that the new plans are more in with keeping with the period of the times and will be beautiful as well. It is going to look great Billy. You have a wonderful day

Wow! things are looking great! Does insulation and plasterboard being so “efficient and air tight” cause problems for the breathing ability needed for the limestone?
none, moisture travels in one direction when a room is heated.
You have put so much time in this library. I can’t wait to see it done it’s gonna be glorious.😊
Excellent idea for the paneling. The wallboard areas above the oak paneling will provide nice spaces for artwork.
I cringed when you said ‘fitting for fluorescent.’ Then my whole body relaxed when you said ‘LED’s!’ 😅😊
Yes! Billy, your ideas with the wood trim will be elegant! Especially if you add fabric to the rectangles, going as posh as you like!
I have to pray now because I have built in bookshelf envy😂😂😂😂 that’s seriously going to be gorgeous!
Chair rail high paneling with plasterboard on top will allow light to reflect. Making it cozy feeling in the library. I think that is a great idea plus it's a little cheaper.
I ❤ where you are going with this !
The Library is coming along nicely!!! Love your ideas!
Yes...do the trim...it will have a classy look with it bordering everything
I can see your vision, Billy. Sounds great!
Love watching your ideas evolve as you get into these projects!
I think a room completely paneled makes the room look smaller. May I suggest a decorative moulding around the top of the walls - 17th century plaster style - perhaps a vine of oak leaves for instance. Small, tasteful, and appropriate to the age of the building.

I think your absolutely right about the plasterboard! It will look so much better!
Watching every video and enjoying. Your doing a great job Billy and team.
Approve of the library change. I think it’s wise and you will enjoy it more.
It is going to look fabulous!
This is so exciting 😅 watching the library come together
I love the idea of going for the wainscoting and moulding rather than fully panelling the room. It's going to look gorgeous ❤
Like the change in plans! A painted mural sounds intriguing . . .
Love your vision. I like the idea of using that oak to frame the unpaneled walls.
Billy, you are brilliant! I admire you as you know what you want and you know how to achive it. You'll have a blessed life. Keep up the excellent work and look forward to your next issue.
Cheers, from another (not so brilliant) Bill in California.

I cant wait to see ehen all paneling is up, remembering how looked to now, is amazing enough, you and your team are wonderfull
I look forward to watching your show every day.
I enjoy watching your channel as you move forward with each project. Also how the library evolves as you progress. It is great that you are able to pivot and make changes to your original ideas when a better one comes to mind.
You are such a visionary Billy, such amazing plans, can’t wait to see the finished results xxx💕💕💕
Hello there from Missouri in the USA.
We watch you every day. We as in my 3 year old granddaughter.
She Loves Yanis very much by the way.
She has been sick with a stomach flu for several days. This is a blunt request for her. Yanis i think it would make her be so happy if you said hello. Her name is Elizabeth.
Thank you all for the entertainment and both the girls love watching you do construction on the convent. They are 3 and 4. 😊 have a great rest of your week.
Go with the trim boxes. Will look stunning
Yes Billy like the fabric / wood trim ! Yeh!❤
It’s going to look amazing when finished! 🇨🇦🎄❤️
I think I see your vision.
Having some painted plasterboard will give the eye places to rest from all the wood (as beautiful as it is). Some contrast.
Also it will give places to hang paintings etc.
It is wonderful seeing the library coming to life.
