- AW YES! The 2020 Zero SR/S has FINALLY made it's way to Eurocycle Sonoma. We enjoyed both of the previous electric motorcycles quite a bit, so we're excited to check this one. Why? I rode me Zero into work today. It's a great way to start and end my day. Love these bikes...

I just bought one got it last week. The premium SR/S model come with 6kW Rapid Charger, heated handgrips and aluminum bar ends. I have not seen the Aluminium bar end on the SR/S you tried so perhaps this was the regular model or they removed or changed the aluminum bar end that came with it. I love my Zero SR/S
I owned one of these bikes. They are fast and fun but have very low real world range. I found out you cannot take trips over 60 miles without stopping and charging up to get back home. If you want a short range work bike for in town use it’s good for that.
I'm surprised you haven't done a rider/review of the Energica Ribelle, which is undoubtedly is the premium Electric motorcycle in the world today. It has that Italian premium bike quality.
We can't get our hands on one.

It's a nice looking bike and riding it must make you realise how inefficient internal combustion engines are in terms of torque, that's why we have to have gear boxes. No power bands or flat spots like your 2020 S1000RR! Having said that I've not rode an electric bike and they don't appeal to me. The noise, vibration and even the smell of different types of engine are important factors in what we choose to ride, and I love changing gear! Blipping the throttle and getting a downshift just right on my R9T racer is very satisfying.
Just had 5 days on the sr/f and love this S... If the dealer can get the price down, I think I'll have one. Until people have ridden it they won't understand.

The styling of the bike has a lot of the Suzuki SV 650SF and the Gladius mixed in there. It looks great and sounds like a blasty to ride.
I heard there was a beast mode which has the full power and torque unleased.. alternatively you can use custom mode to maximize everything. Point is, I think you didn't ride it to its fullest. Good review though 👍

2,000 uk miles now on my SRF premium (there is no difference in range between SRS and SRF its same battery same drive train) range is 80 miles with a 10 mile buffer being carefull so 90 and your empty ( you can set it in economy or just not open the throttle) or go nuts and get 60 miles leaving a 10 mile buffer so 70 miles and your empty. I ride mine in custom setting 100% everything and traction control still on (sport) plus maximum regen (I can use it like a back brake into turns). 0-30 its fast, 30-60 any clipping of the torque curve to stop you flipping it is now done and its unreal acceleration. 40-90 acceleration nothing will keep with it. Zero have been very clever fat sport tyres, full traction control, and a 14.3kWh battery so 110 Hp yet all in a 220Kg package. I ride GSXR 1000 K5 and Cagiva Raptor 1000 so used to quick bikes this is right up there with both bikes, pretty much all done at 125 mph (who needs more....dont answer that). Charging is 90 minutes 0-full with the premium but how often are you truly at zero so generally an hour. Do the maths on empty ( 2 x 2.8 = 5.6kW charging) 14.3/5.6 = 2.55 hrs. Handling takes some getting used to dont get me wrong its very good ( I run 1970s classic 750 Hondas also 220Kg so Im used to "handling" or not) its getting to be able to use the regen as the braking 100%....I like a challenge. Next see if traction control off allows full 0-30?

What's the range on each mode, not the one on display, but the actual range.
Man, that intersection at 3:50... I would have had my hand on the brake ready for either that merc to pull out in front, or the truck to pull across a lane too far!

Did you mention the lights on this bike? LED? Any electrical item used, such as the heated grips (do they turn off?) must reduce the range.
Looks good for touring/commuting but I'd be interested to see how well it goes in the twisty bits at the weekend chasing an R6?!!
...maybe up against a sports tourer would be a fairer comparison, a Triumph ST, perhaps...nothing worse than watching your pals disappear into the distance when the bends appear!

@@thorstambaugh1520 ...I ride Ducati and Aprillia for that reason, torque beats bhp on the tighter stuff....

I'm thinking of starting to ride an electric motorbike. For beginners do i still need to ride smaller cc petrol bikes or can I go straight to this Zero or other modell??
You can go straight to the Zero. Each bike can be adjusted in power and torque down to where your grandma can ride it. When you gain skill and comfort, you may then boost it up

Oh wow this video is delivered in 60fps. That changed the video perspective of speed.
How long does it last and charge?
There are fluids to cool the battery - surely?
No coolant just airflow. They tested these in Death Valley to make sure
What is the best Zero bike for A2, daily about 30km and on weekends I would ride out maybe even 100km

What do they do to simulate engine braking ?
they use regen to slow it down and give that feel. to put power back into the battery and in the custom mode you can set regen pretty strong

Clorox God Yes but you will forget this very soon, it took me 5 minutes to fall in love with the E-Motorcycle of my friend and I didnt even miss the sound during testing!
.I Bought my Yamaha XSR900 for $9000 .
30 sec to fill the tank with $15 of gas and your good for 150 miles is hard to beat.
Let's face it Fuel cost never was a issue with bikes like cars.
BTW it also does the quarter in 11.3 seconds.
BUt I like the E-bike's Quite, no shifting and massive torque on call at any time.
Get the Price way down and the range up.

Not the future, the Delayed Past. This should of been done a decade ago when Lithium Ion tech was already being mass produced.
I think a zero is amazing and am not bashing it at all. But living in a pretty busy city without the noise I think it's a bit dangerous honestly, I can see people changing lanes into you quite often..... Unfortunately ☹️

Ha ha, "only 115HP". Let see my electric car has 50hp....yep 115hp not impressive on a motorcycle.
@@CaliMotoTV guess what you'll never believe this, my EV got rear-ended in a Arby's drive-thru. Just a couple days ago. So looks like I'm in the market for a new vehicle
The problem with electric will always be the range. For this reason it will be a long time before its widely accepted.
Wrong not a long time, in handful of years there will be 30kwh Bikes & 50Kw DC Fast Charging. That's enough range and low enough charging times for anything other than multi day touring.
