Marcellus 100 percent on point 💯
1000% on point
I NEVER heard Wiley speak until now......that dude is SMART..... I was glad he was a Cowboy :)
SAS removed Max from the show because Max garnered significant support from the African American audience on First Take. Terrell Owens made a point when he suggested that Max displayed a stronger commitment to advocating for black issues compared to SAS. Terrell wasn't implying that Max was black himself, but rather that Max seemed to actively champion and defend causes important to the black community, while SAS appeared to be more hesitant or neutral in his stance.
no he didn't lol max was awful
Spot on bro.
@@usmcmikeco0651yes he did. we loved Max on First Take and subsequently with Keyshawn and JWill before ESPN fired everybody. you must be Stephen A‘s burner account
Facts
@@usmcmikeco0651no tf he wasn’t 😂
Max and Marcellus was one of my favorite shows ever.
Max was from the culture bro... dude was a rapper back in the day. He also supports his arguments with actual facts.
He had just as many bad hot takes as SAS
@@antmyrick2063not on race issues which is the point here. He was always with the black culture on issues. Now his takes on sports is another story lol
Bro was too liberal
@@Ben2bwild No if that was the case he would have a different take on Kap
Exactly. I saw him guest host the Jim Rome show back in the day when Rome was still on ESPN. Best guest host Rome ever had. He gave a lesson on rims that day. 😂
Max destroyed SAS every time social issues were discussed
No he didn’t idiot
Facts
Sure did. SAS got in his feelings cause folks was riding with Max.
@@jvbell7764 only person that got their feelings hurt is Max and you. Max is not on ESPN anymore and obviously FS1 doesn’t think he is good enough for them to pick up. So be quiet!
Man Please
Stephen A is still haunted by Max’s shadow
*“being blacker”* than he is😂
He damn sure is!
Jewish are God's people. They can pass for any race. Fake Russian accents, anyone?
I really miss max. He was a breath of fresh air in this type of media
Me too
Stephen A wanted a white guy he can appear left of sociopolitically. He couldn’t do that with Max
Idk if it's particularly left but he wants to be the face of black folks. That's why TO is right when he says Stephen A was really butt hurt over people thinking Max was more in line with the black community.
That's why Mad Dog is on all the time now
@@XeoMacNasty
Exactly.
I'm a fan of sas but he's always been overly sensitive to that criticism
@@madddoggnogood1491 -- It is easy to become overly sensitive to that criticism though. Most of America and a lot of Black America aren't initially very kind to smart people.
Smart people aren't the in crowd. Smart people look for ways to fit in when we are young. Smart people are the minority in school.
Being black; speaking in a "smart" way was considered speaking white. How many times do you have to hear that to be sensitive about it? (I'm speaking from experience. I did the things Steven A. did as well like playing sports and getting good at them to fit in better.)
We have to code-switch. We have to speak one way in one crowd of people and speak another way in another crowd of people.
It is super easy to be sensitive. You want to fit in. If you are successful, you want to prove you can make things better for the people who used to exclude you.
How would it then feel if someone loved by the Black community then said on air that the white guy on set is more black than you?
You were trying hard to fit in when you were younger but got made fun of by how well you spoke. You made it and tried to give back but looked like a clown.
Easy to be sensitive.
If they were just digital NPCs, Steven A. spoke out against weed while Max spoke for it. Steven A. reasoned Kaepernick didn't deserve a spot while Max spoke on the NFL black balling him and him deserving the opportunity. If you didn't know the race of each individual then T.O.'s statement seemed true and not just a sarcastic statement.
Way more than enough to be sensitive about.
Sorry for the essay.
@@semi6544
I agree to an extent
But that's completely different from what Stephen is sensitive about. Stephen a tries to play both sides of the fence. You can't be a centrist in today's world.
I dont agree with TO. What is "acting black" anyways.
The problem with Stephen a on this issue is like I said he's trying to be centrist. He's trying to be safe for white people and at the same time portray the "brotha" role. And people see through it. And then to take it out on max is ridiculous. All max did was be himself. Stephen a thinks just because he's black, black people should automatically side with him , but yet on certain issues pertaining to black people he does the opposite. He's being hypocritical
Max was supposed to be the white clown on the show, the Bayless or Wright, but he kept being too articulate and nuanced and made Stephen A feel dumb. These guys nailed it.
nick wrights married to a black woman
that's what Wiley said he went deep tho
STRAIGHT FACTS!
If you think skip and nick wright are the same, and they're both "clowns" then you've missed the plot a bit. Max and nick are damn near lock Step on political issues, and pretty damn close on how "nerdy" they can be. Stephen A wanted a big draw. Because people like him and skip are more into rating and popularity than actually being "good".
@@xcwilliams7980 there’s no way you can say that about Nick on political issues he doesn’t speak like a historian or someone who is well versed in it, nick Max hold different beliefs, tho both are good hearted while Stephen A acts like a pro-former in every single subject he talks about lmao Max is my favourite talk show host
Plus SAS is still shook up from what T.O. said about him.
As Blackman I can attest that my friends and I, with legion of other black folks were feeling Max Kellerman. TO and Wiley hit it on the nose
It makes so much sense now why Mad Dog is on the show all the time. You can see Mad Dog fighting to not call certain black athletes thugs or gangsters some times. Stephen A looks like Malcolm X next to him.
Not Malcom X 😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
“White people love Wayne Brady because he makes Bryant humble look like Malcom X”

That Terrell Owens moment for many fans was like "EXACTLY!!!"
THIS!!! ALL FACTS 😂 T.O. literally was the only one who said on live TV what we all were saying lol
Marcellus Wiley put it perfectly, his video on this feels pretty definitive. Y’all should have him on to talk about post-ESPN/Fox life for the smart kids who the networks didn’t want to support in the first place.
The sound of the crew bursting out laughing as soon as Will Cain's name is mentioned is pure joy
But he played the part Stephen A wanted perfectly
I remember seeing Will Cain the first time and going "ooooh that's what you're here for" lol. Made for some entertaining TV tho
What’s wrong with Will Cain? What did he do? I have absolutely no idea, so hopefully someone can fill me in lol
@kaydonpitman7312 he's just another mouthpiece at Fox News now (not remotely surprised) and is just considered to be an all around clown.
@kaydonpitman7312 basically he was the conservative white foil to SAS. He's on Fox News now iirc. Nothing wrong with him just a role he played
Max the Columbia educated-one time rapper who can go from single hosting 2 shows in his 20’s and co-host HBO Boxing. That Max? SAS was thinking he was dealing with an Ivy League nepo baby when in fact he was dealing with that dude.
I’ll admit I wasn’t crazy about Max, but Stephen A definitely disrespected him often on the show and it’s messed up he’s bragging about getting him fired.
Yea that’s sum sucker rat type shit. Get someone fired then brag about it
@@jyoung8145 and he got such an ego it’s sad, I don’t watch him nowhere near as much these days
He legit thinks he’s Martin, his entire presence is based on being that character Martin played in the show as a radio talking head. Loud, thinks he’s a smooth talker, ect. Now he is just taking it to the extreme lol We all know this right?
@@JDCartier-pv4rr agreed that’s why I’m not crazy about him anymore. He’s a know it all and loud & dramatic for no reason, I legit would not be mad if he got cancelled.
How could you come to the conclusion that he's "bragging" about getting Max took off the show? He's simply giving insight on the situation since everyone wants to have an opinion and issue with what he did. Max wasn't even fired.
Amin! One of the best... miss seeing him more often, especially during NBA season
Entertainer meets Educator. ❤ Wiley’s take is right on.
The best show I watched on ESPN about 8 years ago was sports nation. Marcellus, Max & Beadle had great chemistry. That show was entertaining!
I love Marcellus. Smart man and straight shooter
I miss Max Kellerman. Dude was so knowledgeable
This is the first time I have listened to your show. Great Job! Really enjoyed it!
SCREAMIN A wanted Max to be Will Cain 😅😅😅😅
I think the main issue was like Dan said. Max wants to do nuance and Stephen A just can’t do that.
Nah the main issue was Stephen A couldn't make white people look like the devil when talking to Max. Nuance had nothing to do with it.
Stephen A wants to do WWE
Ironically, if they had place Will Cain in that seat, they'd be losing fewer viewers to the internet podcasters. First Take argues the little stuff and then they all repeat the same thoughts on the big stuff.
I remember Stuart Scott, great takes and could talk on many topics, no yelling,
Marcellus is the best news broadcaster in sports industry right now, always facts and truth. I only follow him right now.
I watched that uninteresting show Max was on entitled Keyshawn, Max and J Will or something like that and felt Max was stuck on a show that ill served his talents. Clearly, he’s an intellectual who is mild mannered and polite. I always thought ESPN wanted him to muffle his personality to play down his intellectual side. Max’s brightness and civility would be better served at NPR or some public radio program where he isn’t required to shout above other voices or be impolite. There’s nothing wrong with an intelligent approach to sports programming and not everybody needs to bellow and shout over each other.
Espn is for entertaining max isn’t entertaining
@@AtribecalledsuccessMax is quite entertaining if you find anything else except for shouting matches entertaining.
@@eeshankumar1211 If he was espn would let him have another show since he’s still under contract
That show used to frustrate me because Max would say something that went over Keyshawns head and they would laugh at Max like he’s the idiot
@@dontaeshepard2199 90% of general human conversation would go over Keyshawn's head. He's the weakest link on any show he appears on....just constant dumb take after dumb take.
I like Max even though I don't always agree with him. But the way he presented his arguments, I have nothing but respect for him. With Stephen A, the best I can do is "I'll respectfully disagree" and then ran like hell!😂
Rule #1 of business is don't make the boss look bad.
So now everybody who use to be on the same platform go around reacting to what each other said?? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Wiley is only being outspoken because he is no longer working for any major network. He now gets the chance to take 25 minutes to answer a question that requires a 30 second answer. You can tell he enjoys gossiping about industry beefs.
You’ve told no lies. But, neither has Marcellus.
This is big facts!! He always enjoyed positioning himself as some authority over everything. And not having any pushback for anything he says has to feel like heaven to him.
Those are the things you can do when you’re, your own boss 🤷🏽♂️
I mean, he wasn't exactly lacking for outspokenness on TV. He just gets to go even deeper now.
" He now gets the chance to take 25 minutes to answer a question that requires a 30 second answer." We still have Lavar Arrington on Fox Sports Radio for that. Holy shit, I've never listented to a guy who, instead of going from point A to point B, decides to go for the "I'm in a giant corn maze" option of discourse more than him.
Max was amazing on local sports radio here in LA. He should come back
Nothing personal he said? lol Oh it was personal. So personal that SAS did not even show up to Max last First Take episode. So personal that he never acknowledge or thanked Max 5 years contribution to First Take being #1. So personal that when he was asked the question, SAS went so far as to question Max's credentials(He was not an athlete and did not have a journalistic background when SAS chose him and called him to be on First Take. Why is a problem now?), said that Max did not do his job, that First Take was stale because of Max and that he(SAS) had to keep the show afloat by himself. So personal that when ESPN had those layoffs, he mentioned everyone except Max until he had online backlash.
Exactly
I'm a fan of Stephen a but he's full of it when it comes to how he treated max.
Especially on his last day like you said . He's still trying to do damage control 2 years later
Didn't the ratings go down after Max left, and only recently rebounded with all the new additions? I bet SAS will never mention that though every time he puts Max's name in his mouth
@@Raydaruckuz You are correct, it went down for maybe 4-6 months
People only tune in for Shannon and mad dogg after they turn or they watch they watch the youtube clips
@@ph01978lol no it didnt
I really think it’s as simple as Stephen A not liking Max’s personality. Max wasn’t loud and bombastic enough. That’s why he has Mad Dog and Shannon now as featured cohost because they bring a little more too the table as far as personality.
ESPN used to have this real mature show that would come on back in the days, I think on Sunday’s called simply “the sports reporters” or something like that. They’d all sit around in a circle with a fireside chat type of format. They were real calm and mature on that show, almost like a 60 Minutes type of vibe. Max is better suited for a show like that. Maybe Max and Marcellus can use that type of format for a new show.
Great show man
I believe they are correct and that in theory he wanted Will Cain type as a co-host cause he clash with Max and Stephen A on social and racial issues.
Stephen A wanted John Stockton. He got Jason “White Chocolate” Williams. Max didn’t do intellectual bounce passes. Instead, Max was doing intellectual elbow passes in the lane.
Stephen A is looking really bad in this situation. First how he talked about Max and now how he said he would "expose" TO. I think other people are going to overtake him. Pat Mac and Marcellus are much more interesting to listen to.
All my favorite ESPN shows were cancelled within a few years of one another. It felt like ESPN told me to f off.
Will Cain's IQ surpasses this entire casts combined.
That’s funny 🤣
Will Cain catching a well deserved stray
First Take was a debate show. Why does SAS want Max out? cause SAS keeps on losing on the debates. Look at JWill and JJ, then Mad Dog. SAS just debate them out of the show. now he has Shannon. Because Shannon is a fan favorite, he will take it easy, but trust me SAS will do all his best to be the main character in his own world.
SAS will soon resent Shannon Sharpe because he is bringing higher ratings.
SAS hates intelligent white people, they need to be the devil and black people need to always appear as oppressed. That's the Stephen A. way. 😊
@@aidanwatson910Yeah JJ and Dan are idiots 😂😂. If Max was so good why didn't they keep his show
@@antmyrick2063 exactly. Because ESPN hates intelligence. Just ask Sage Steele.
Um jj isn't on anymore because basketball season is over. Pretty sure he'll be back once basketball starts again, nobody wants to here jj talk about football lol
I saw the original video on the channel. It's really interesting to hear how people speak about Max, and assumptions made by SAS. I also have a degree in history, and consider myself fairly cultured, nothing near Max's level tho. I have the same political leanings as Max as well. It has put me in weird situations. It's nice to see Max get the support.
Max and TO need to create their own podcast together
So TO can hate him too?
@@QUHectic212Would only be a matter of time. 😂
Amin did play Mike so well! Mike’s response is hilarious!
He cooked him 😂Amin was playing the Game of Thrones
I MISSSSSS Marcellus from sports television. He was by far one of if not the smartest athlete they’ve ever had on these shows and he’s got charisma too. Wish he and Jason Whitlock still has their show because acho is horrific
Ayy, he has that UA-cam thing now though!
Notice that SAS hasn't responded to a single thing Marcellus said, not one word. Actions or lack of can speak so much louder than words
If SAS ever thought a max would be right of him politically or the dumb clown, he clearly never listened to Max on the radio.
Ya I don't think the fallout was based on race issues like everybody says it's a sports show at the end of the day
Stephen A only rly knows basketball and having Max kinda emphasized this
Daymn Marcellus kept it one thóusand...and broke it all the way down! Daymn Stephen A I wasn't aware of this issue or your insecurities until I clicked on this video.
I wish Dan could have finished his thought at the end.
Everyone I talked to said the same! Wiley nailed it
i never understood why that didn't work out because MAX really help make the show for me...i was truly baffled when it fell apart
Stephen A keeps talking about Max, Max has been too classy to not clap back and eviscerate him.
I want that hat 🔥🔥🔥
Wow, he said he never heard anyone say this about SAS before Wiley said it. I’ve been commenting this ever since Max was taken off First Take and so has many others. 😂
Yeah I thought it what was happening was obvious while it was happening.
Max could pull up to any cookout today and leave with a bag full of Tupperware AND the cutest cousin in the family.
The hilarious thing is, SAS isn’t a black American, he’s from “the islands!”
SAS can say that he wants a new partner. Fine. But dont mess with someone's livelihood by saying that the guy is unqualified, etc. That's ethically wrong especially if you did it to someone who didn't do anything wrong to you.
All facts!!
Max is extremely smart. ESPN letting him go shows an extreme level of managerial incompetence.
Stephen A. not wanting him around, on the other hand, is not surprising at all.
Everytime I mention "Will Caine" I have to spit immediately afterwards!!
Yeah I do remember them trying to fit will cain on the show😂
Went from Max Kellerman to a guy named MAD DOG lol
What did Will Cain too? I legit have no idea, just realized I hadn’t seen him in a while. I hope we aren’t just hating on him because he’s on FOX now.
This is spot on we love Max and Stephen A couldn’t do nothing with him!!!
These guys all look so much different dressed casually
FACTS!!!
Max was too smart for SAS n he couldn't handle it. Plus Max schooled him on mma n boxing. I haven't watched first take in a very long time n probably won't. It's done. They have a revolving door of guests cuz SAS can't carry the show. Hope Max gets a shot at a bigger show. He definitely deserves it. Love these guys too.
I think J Ford was looking for the edge not a seam
*ESPN got MAX on mute mode, per contract!*
That’s why Stephen A got Mad Dog instead. Fits the mode
Agree with everything but also ultimately means SAS made the right call
Marcellus was right love his podcast
Need Amin & Patrick Beverley together for a interview
SAS resented the fact that Max gained with more respect from many black fans among the audience than he himself does. Max was a real one, and he had better appeal among many black viewers than SAS himself. 🤷🏾♂️
Thus why SAS always seems to make himself out as some grand patron saint of black society... brought to you by Stephen A. Smith, of course. He never leaves out how Stephen A. Smith did something for HBCUs or fellow journalists or whatever.
I commend some of the work and messages SAS has put forth to the spotlight, but I do notice how everything is still always about promotion of Stephen A. Smith. Go look at any show he's on talking about the push for progress for our black people, in the industry and beyond. I support such efforts and I think there is some real sincerity coming from SAS, for the most part.
But, again, I also notice how much SAS wants to leverage that good cause to boost his own brand. Everything is always about SAS. Love the guy but he's got some narcissistic issues.
And a white guy who could spit more hip-hop history and echo more sentiments closer to most younger black Americans than SAS could and how Max has long vibed well with black audiences at ESPN sorta stood in the way of some of the shine Stephen A. wanted.
What pissed me off, though, is how SAS couldn't even face Max like a man, during their last episode of First Take. Made up some BS excuse about a "cold" and saw the man off by on-air phone call. Lame as hell. 🤦🏾♂️
I swear I only see this page when they talk about others in the space lol
I take it back Arizona is not tanking
I think everyone who followed First Take knows Wiley is absolutely right.
why is Wiley breathing so damn hard lmao
When SAS started talking about MMA and Boxing and was exposed as not knowing shit about it and only really knowing about basketball and football, you knew he had to do something about it and get dumber people on that show to make him look smart.
I always liked max . He just seems more normal . Dude used to rap come on people lmao dude is down to earth and he's not gonna hold his tongue . I can respect that
When it came to sociopolitical issues or anything of that matter, Max was always on top
Talk show hosts talking about talk show hosts talking about talk show hosts. Who needs to talk about sports?
There's a reason why SAS gets invited to Fox News 💀
He wanted Max to be Will Cain basically.
Will Cain was also much smarter than SAS.
Love Marcellus, i don't agree with everything he says, but he does speak truth, no matter how it will be viewed. White or black🤙🏾
Max coming to FS1❤🎉
Stephen A just didn't know who Max really was and i applaud Max for not changing.
Random this (I’m from UK so not up to speed…) what happened to Will Caine? What’s he doing now. Obviously I could just google but would rather hear opinions here….
A Smith hired a white gap that once rapped lol
Max is a fkn genius. He really is. Dudes ability to speak brilliantly and on point every time is crazy
People forget will Cain got pushed out of first take too
To be fair to Skip, he is straightforward when it comes to social issues.
that TO moment hurt Steven A bad
For me Max made the show watchable, SAS is hard to take.
Dam it's football season but these dudes keep talking about Stephen A? 😂😂😂
Absolutely appeared that Max made Stephen A. uncomfortable at times, because Max not only empathized with black and social issues, he could at times, articulate them better than Stephen A.
T.O. Told you how he feels about S.A. And he wasn’t wrong.
