SAS removed Max from the show because Max garnered significant support from the African American audience on First Take. Terrell Owens made a point when he suggested that Max displayed a stronger commitment to advocating for black issues compared to SAS. Terrell wasn't implying that Max was black himself, but rather that Max seemed to actively champion and defend causes important to the black community, while SAS appeared to be more hesitant or neutral in his stance.

Terrell Owens, in my opinion, stands as one of the most dominant wide receivers in NFL history, right up there with the likes of Randy Moss (my favorite WR of all time) in terms of sheer talent and impact on the game.
Regardless of what the media might say about him, you can never take away the fact that T.O. was an absolute force on the field. Sure, there were moments like him disrespecting the Cowboys' star, which, as a Cowboys fan, I didn't like.
But beyond all that, T.O. has always been the guy who commanded respect and admiration for his incredible skills and dedication to the game. Cheers to one of the greatest wide receivers the NFL has ever seen!

Get him T.O.! What he said at 9:05 is what guys like Stepehen A. seem to miss. Somewhere along the line some of these "sports analysts" started intertwining their critique of athletes' performances with their disrespect of athletes; talking in a way they wouldn't have talked growing up around these guys.
They are jealous of professional athletes because they didn't make it. I believe ESPN saw a lane in how these wild fans disrespect athletes and felt it could connect if their analysts did the same for a shock jock type show.
Guys like Stephen A. and Skip who already had animosity to real athletes jumped at the chance. They went from sports journalists to "sports jesters". They started to view themselves as stars when their whole shtick is based on attaching themselves to athletes.
Stephen A. consistently disrespects people and justifies it by saying it's his job. But when anyone says something about him, he has to do his soliloquy acting like some fake Western outlaw.

I hate what happens to athletes and actors and anyone in the public eye, how a narrative can be created about them that has nothing to do with reality. No wonder so many famous people take their own lives. People don't realize that human beings are sensitive, that the amount of money that you make and the amount of fame that you have does not make you less of a person. I hate that we live in a culture where people love to see successful people fall, and they love a fight. Even if there's mostly bullshit behind the fight. They love seeing famous people hurt. Especially famous black people. It's a sickness. I love this show, and also some of the other shows like Knuckleheads, and all of the shows that the athletes run because of exactly what TO said. That they're not cut. I love that Derek Jeter started his thing allowing athletes to speak for themselves. The notion that athletes should just "shut up and dribble" is so prevalent. It's racist, it's jealousy, it's pure hatred. Much respect for giving TO a platform. And here's to a better world for all of us. We can only hope.
