It's crazy that after 25 years apart, and with only 3 hrs rehearsal, their long dormant inimitable sound reappeared just like that. Amazing what chemistry of 4 individuals can do.
Well, they did write and record those songs themselves, and played them countless times on all their massive world tours from the 70s through the 90s so I’m sure they got in sync pretty quickly on the first rehearsal.

I suppose the amount of touring burnt the songs in all detail into the brain circuitry-- Also for professional musicians and others a piece has to be repeated until it is in the automatic dept, like walking , ....it sort of plays itself,,

I was sitting on my couch in tears. Never thought I would see them together again. I had see them many times between '73 and '83, then without Roger later.
The highest of this, for me, was how HAPPY Roger looked while playing. I'd seen him live solo several times and he always seemed miserable. Something changed, fundamentally, with him in the last few years leading up to that reunion. He put aside his anger, his resentment, and found his connection with his audience again after years being behind his wall. This was his ultimate tearing down of the wall, by reuniting with the rest of Floyd, one last time.
Tommy Mac it must have been hard for Roger to hear his lyrics being played to stadiums for so many years .. For me he is the essence of Floyd . To see him there with the other 3 and Dick Parry on sax was mind blowing
@@Stephenconder Roger was the lyricist with a lot to say. I have a lot of respect for him. However, he disregarded the emotional impact of the music, a lot of which came from Wright, to bring life to his lyrics.

However, because of that, his amazing voice is often overlooked, and he’s one of the few vocalists who really sounds a BETTER with some age on his voice.
Rich, you spotted the moment in Comfortably Numb where drummer Nick Mason pulls his headphones off. He must have wanted to hear the guitar solo 'live' rather than via the electronics as this was the final time they were on stage together - sadly, Rick Wright passed away a few years later. My God, this is such an emotional performance from the boys here. As Roger later said, it's a satisfying way to end the band formally. And great for us fans too, they got back together at last for one last blast...I'm envious of all here who were there, I would have emptied my bank account to go:).

Pink Floyd is my favorite prog band of all time. It's amazing how well their music still stands up after all these years. Showing this was an excellent choice, Rich. Every time I hear PF it makes my spirit soar, if that makes any sense.
You’re exactly right this is what I’ve been saying for years Richard Wright so fantastic on keyboards always got screwed by the camera people even though his keyboards were absolutely essential to Pink Floyd’s catalog and people forget how much of the music he actually wrote on the Darkside of the moon what a shame

I was there. I was one of the lucky people who saw Pink Floyd live in Rome. And I will never forget it. I got completely lost after the concert with head-full of LSD. I wouldn't trade it for a million dollars.
I remember weeping tears of joy when I watched this live. I've seen Floyd and Waters separately on as many occasions as possible. This was how every show should have been.
Quite simply one of your best one reaction videos ever!! I loved PF when I was a teenager and I'm now in my 60's and still love them to bits ... "pure dead brilliant, so they are!" as we say in Bonnie Scotland :) xx
The Floyd formed me more than any other influence in my life. Whether it be Money and Pigs and Have a Cigar, Dogs and Sheep, so I'm Comfortably Numb. Grantchester Meadows helped me Breath. Time sure has passed but they always helped me watch out for Pigs on the Wing. Nothing quite like Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With a Pict, Just Be Careful With that Axe Eugene :)
"That dude" is Tim Renwick. At the time he was one of the very few musicians who had played with both Roger and David on their separate ventures. He grew up in Cambridge too.
Saw Pink Floyd in 1987 in Versailles, Paris, France and again in 1994 at the Werchter festival site in Belgium. Two totally different but marvellous experiences. Pink Floyd are absolutely in a category of their own, their music grabs you and carries you away to worlds you couldn't have imagined. They are an intoxicating drug that expands your mind, a trip you luckily never recover from.
Watched this live...I think on MTV, but I can't remember for sure. They put an ad in right in the middle of a song though, so they replayed this later in full with no interruption. Live 8 had several different stages set up around the world where top musicians played. Anyways, I always cry when I see this as it's the last concert they did together, and that makes me sad.
PF is amazing in so many ways. One of them is that they didn't lose their ability to sing or play. So many of the greats just sounded terrible when they got old (no fault of their own, you can't fight time...). David's voice is still really smooth here.
I saw them at the Dagenham Roundhouse England along with every other 60's 70's rock/prog rock group. Look up "Dagenham Roundhouse England. List of bands that played there" and feel total rock envy, every weekend for years I saw the best. And strangely I remember every gig( and believe me I shouldn't be able to).
This event was really emotional for me. I watched it from my house and recorded it on VHS. I still have the tape. It really was a monumental event. Pink Floyd reunion? It was just too good to be true. Boy did they ever deliver with those 4 songs! Everyone wanted more of course, but economics (MONEY) made the rules. Truly they are giants in musical art. I know you have done a bunch of The Who. The super cute way Kel says “mobile”...should invite a reaction to “Goin’ Mobile” . Stay safe!
David Gilmore once said there was only one thing he regrets about the album Dark Side of the Moon. He was not able to listen to it for the first time, beginning to end, with headphones on. Having done that, I understand
I remember listening to dark side of the moon when it was first released, on our new stereo system on headphones and it was life changing. Probably the best album ever!
The only time Breathe & Breathe Reprise have been played together. I like when the guitar solo begins on Money we get a close up of the Battersea Power Station.
Was wondering when Kel’s head would start rockin’. Not disappointed. I was at the Pulse concert. I’m 65 now & Floyd has been the soundtrack of my life.
This is my first time seeing this, thank you so much. Roger Waters looks like he is truely enjoying this.It breaks my heart that these geniouses power trips tore down the wall between them. I only wonder what more great music they could bring to us if they did not have their differences. God bless the Rolling Stones.
It was mainly Roger Waters and while it's sad to think what could have been, look what they've left us with. There's more and more people listening to them for the first time and while I envy them for that I'm happy for them.
Great comments and insights. Thanks for showing this. On a side note I really enjoy watching Kel looking at Rich with such love. To me that just jumps off the screen. Incredible!
I experienced them together 4 times live and then Roger Waters three times after that. They were all stunning in their grip on the audience, but I must say the concert in Chicago for the Animals tour was Brilliant.
Yes what a way to show Kel the power Pink Floyd had over its legions of fans..I was sitting with my wife enjoying the Live 8 concert but.when Pink Floyd come on it was a moment i made sure to remember every single second of the epic show..a moment in time never to be seen again, so TY very much for the memories of the day it happened..You must remember "Pig's Did Fly That Day" Stay Strong Stay Safe Love and Hugs for Australia
It was the 70s and there was so much music but I remember Pink Floyd,Led zeppelin,ZZ Top and so many more. We would pass the bong and turn it up it was a great time to be alive
Fun fact-- this concert put Dark Side of the Moon album back on the billboard's top 200 best selling album's for the following the next couple year's, all proceeds from the sales of all Pink Floyd albums after this song went to charities to help the homeless, they were the only band that played that guitar that went outside of the concert to help people around the world, even donating their gift bags which contained Rolex watches to charity, Pink Floyd didn't benefit from this concert at all, they reunited because they knew they could help and that was their goal, was to help.
Before this concert, I'd never heard Breathe performed as one whole song :P Usually they play Breathe, then On the Run, then Time and then Breathe Reprise. It was a very nice change to hear Breathe and Breathe Reprise played together :)
Pink Floyd changed me, changed who I am back when I was 15, 50 years ago. Ever since, and through all the joy and pain they've been a constant. No other band comes close. No other band means as much. Thanks for everything, guys. I wouldn't have been me without you.
Just loved this - tear in the eye too. Live 8 had many very very special moments ... Stings performance and band - amazing set. The Who - stunned me yet again, and of course this. Happy memories of all this when they came out, lessons still to be learned. I know exactly where I was - at home transfixed by these performances fixing up my spare speaker set after my fronts blew out at the volume levels these acts and others made mandatory. What a day ...
I saw them for the first time in 1973 at the Montreal Forum. It was my first show and the Dark Side of the Moon was just out but I didn't heard it yet! What a show! How can you not fell in love with prog rock and live performances after that! I have seen hundreds of show since and it is still one of the best I have seen.
That's because us grandpas' rock! I've been listening to Floyd since the late 60's. They have been a fixture in my life soothing my troubled soul, healing me with their poignant songs of life.
Dave Gilmour is 'just a normal guy', who despite being world famous, still stays down to earth and doesn't let his fame get in the way. He donated all the profits from the album sales generated by this performance, to charity. Suddenly, a lot of the other artists decided to follow suit.
I am 65 years old man from Germany and I am a Pink Floyd fan since 1977 . I have all albums from PF and in 1994 I saw they in Berlin I was totally overwhelmed. Pink Floyd is one of the best group off all time 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Next try COMING BACK TO LIFE - HIGH HOPES - ONE OF THESE DAYS and SORROW in that order from the PULSE Concert. Visually and musically stunning. Please do Kel right by this she will love it PLEASE. PLEASE !!!!!
My ex husband was shot in 2018. He suffered for nine months without ever getting out of the hospital. He took a turn for the worse, stopped breathing and became brain dead, only sustaining life from life support. The day that we took him off life support, my daughters, husbands and myself stood around his bed listening to music. Wish You Were Here was playing when he passed. The masters of music !
Thank You for watching this, my eyes get a little wet watching this but worth it !
Metal lerv from down under \m/ \m/
Pink Floyd is my favorite group of all time! No matter how I am feeling, whether up or down, they have a song to make my day!!!
The Gilmour's guitar solo in Comfortably Numb always gives me goosebumps 🤘🏼🤘🏼😭
I was there. I was one of the lucky people who saw Pink Floyd live in Rome. And I will never forget it. I got completely lost after the concert with head-full of LSD. I wouldn't trade it for a million dollars.
I remember weeping tears of joy when I watched this live. I've seen Floyd and Waters separately on as many occasions as possible. This was how every show should have been.
This performance was the triumphant return of David's fabled "Black Strat" to active duty.
I haven’t watched it yet and I’m so excited I can’t stand it.❤️😃🥂Much love
The best comment I have ever seen was "a guitar would want Dave Gilmour for Christmas"
This sound like studio!
Nice to see someone mentioning some tracks from ummagumma. I was hooked as soon as I heard "careful with that axe, eugene".
First time I ever got high, the song that started playing as I got off was Astronomy Domini. A life changing event.
"That dude" is Tim Renwick. At the time he was one of the very few musicians who had played with both Roger and David on their separate ventures. He grew up in Cambridge too.
Also played in Eric Claptons band in the mid 80s.....
@@SotonCueMan And with Clapton and Waters on the Pros and Cons tour.
Your wife looks at you so full with love, and you even react one time! Man are so unpassiontly. Even me.
PF is amazing in so many ways. One of them is that they didn't lose their ability to sing or play. So many of the greats just sounded terrible when they got old (no fault of their own, you can't fight time...). David's voice is still really smooth here.
The last time I saw Roger, a couple years ago, he actually sounded much better than this.
David gilmour is the greatest guitar player ever 👌
The master of the slow notes!
Prince was pretty good also. RIP
He also is a great vocalist.
How significant it is that Breathe is one of the songs........ Everyone just needs to take a step back... and Breathe!! Cheers from Ottawa!!
Hey I am in Ottawa too! Stay safe all!
Gentlemen till the end, they continued to keep Syd on the payroll throughout his life.
@Hicky Hicky No!
Watching Roger rejoin the Floyd brought me to tears.
She's ready for Great Gig in the Sky
This is just so beautiful that it hurts.
as a british man... i speak for pink floyd when i say, "you're welcome"
OMG this sent every musical Rush down my spine, imagine listening to this in the late 70s, tripping your balls off
I saw them at the Dagenham Roundhouse England along with every other 60's 70's rock/prog rock group. Look up "Dagenham Roundhouse England. List of bands that played there" and feel total rock envy, every weekend for years I saw the best. And strangely I remember every gig( and believe me I shouldn't be able to).
It is beautiful and soothing to the soul to watch you two dreaming together to theese wonderful sounds
"They didn't play 'Time', they played 'Money' instead."
Even they had to choose between time and money!
Funny!
Well TIME IS MONEY
Was 17 in 1973. They were life changing for me. This performance brought simultaneously joy and sadness. There will NEVER be another.
Summer of 73 i was 19 by the summer of 74 Dark Side of The Moon was completely worn out!
If I remember right, after this show the band was offered 150 million to tour the US and they obviously turned it down.
Had the pleasure of seeing them 3 times, best gigs and band ever in my eyes
Roger is apparently extremely difficult to deal with.
Excellent choice, those songs fascinate me, they are incredible, so intense and with rhythms so simple to appreciate.
Proof that even at the age of 120 (LOL) Pink Floyd still musically and lyrically tower over anything that could be seen live on today's stages, IMO.
Send Roger Waters three times. Last time in Liverpool, it was fucking unbelievable! The laser effects especially doing the Animals stuff!
Yes what a way to show Kel the power Pink Floyd had over its legions of fans..I was sitting with my wife enjoying the Live 8 concert but.when Pink Floyd come on it was a moment i made sure to remember every single second of the epic show..a moment in time never to be seen again, so TY very much for the memories of the day it happened..You must remember "Pig's Did Fly That Day"
Stay Strong Stay Safe Love and Hugs for Australia
Masters at work!
I was there. Massive Floyd fan and only went to see them. A mate won two tickets on a radio show - how lucky was that 😁
No one has convinced me yet that there is any guitar solo in the history of rock that's better than David Gilmour's in "Comfortably Numb."
They shouldn't try. It regularly heads the lists of great solos.
Thanks Kel and Rich for taking the time to make these videos and keep us entertained while we're stuck at home! Appreciate it!
I had Dark side of the Moon on 8-track! One of the last 8-tracks I bought was The Wall. 😎✌️❤️
It was the 70s and there was so much music but I remember Pink Floyd,Led zeppelin,ZZ Top and so many more. We would pass the bong and turn it up it was a great time to be alive
Brilliant stuff. One of the best reaction videos anywhere. And how great is David Gilmour? Master at work.
Fun fact-- this concert put Dark Side of the Moon album back on the billboard's top 200 best selling album's for the following the next couple year's, all proceeds from the sales of all Pink Floyd albums after this song went to charities to help the homeless, they were the only band that played that guitar that went outside of the concert to help people around the world, even donating their gift bags which contained Rolex watches to charity, Pink Floyd didn't benefit from this concert at all, they reunited because they knew they could help and that was their goal, was to help.
after all that time, they did sound great together..shame they wont come back this way
been listening to PF since 1972........DSOTM is a masterpiece.
Check out David Gilmour Live at Pompei....He's so effortless at being perfect, even now after all this time. Have seen them 4 times the 1st in 1971.
Comfortably Numb Pulse. 😁 Best guitar solo ever recorded.
Is it me, if ya met Gilmore on the street, you would think he is just someone's grandpa..... ? So kewl with a T-shirt n jeans.... Cheers from Ottawa!!
O-Town pride!
This song destroys me every time I hear it. He was able to donate his kidney and gave someone else life.
