Actually - NO DC power supply has been shown, nor has one been connected. The video ONLY shows the unit being powered by the 3.5mm cord input, from the device's headphone output. Basically it runs off approx. 1.5V AC

Minor distortions at the top end but you could probably fix them with a small 1uf capacitor at the output. I hooked up several wires wrong but it still works. Absolutley terrible instructions though. Use your words.
