during 80s and 90s the japanese flute companies were competeing fiercely to gain the market so the flutes produced in this time usually are very good quality. different headjoont cuts and various portion of metal were tried. also flutemakers in usa and britain were going through big changes. cooper scale and all that... even now the flutes are constantly being newly improved. e split mechanism is more common than 2 decades ago, and pinless brogger system may replace the boeme system flute in a century.
@@jorgemartin5093 I used to have a modern flute (Brannen with Nagahara head). I got the change to try a vintage Armstrong from the original Heritage line. I was blown away by the difference. There is just so much more tonal colour! Of course I traded my flute against it. 😄
BRILLIANT. But the first run seems rushed. Love him though. Saw him perform a few years ago. He was absolutely AMAZING!!! His performance of the Prokofiev was flawless.
Does anyone know from which concert was this? I tried looking all over the Digital Concert Hall but couldn't find it. Could it be in one of their DVDs...?
Truly microphonated to make the flute sounds listenable in the orchestra...im flutist and we can see here the intention in this video of enhacing the flute sound...i mean. Flute is the orchestra less listenable instrument...the poor flute...but not only that...it is the most difficult to microphonate... why??? Because the sound is out from the exact same hole from all we flutist blow the air and not in the very end of the flute tube like it happens in all others wind instruments...wich they sound naturally louder than the poor flute...and in addittion to this they are microphonated too. So poor the flute...but at home..we sound louder...louder louder...
And does a small mistake even mean anything? Why do you feel the need to nitpicking even the smallest useless details & then start making completely incoherent comparisons? Did anyone even bring John Pierre into this? It's simply your preference, period, and it will never change the fact of just how good Pahud is as a Flutist.
There is NO MISTAKE at the .38 seconds mark. I don't know what you're listening to, but this performance is fantastic. If you feel that way in regards to Rampal, that's fine, but it very tasteless to insult Pahud. 🎵
Absolutely BRILLIANT playing by the entire flute section.
Pahud is my gold standard for anything orchestral when research rolls around. Thanks for putting this up!
Truly magnificent work by the flute section here. Note the solid gold solo flute and also the alto flute solo. Impressive musical performances.
I'm glad someone also paid attention to the Alto flute, haha. Her sound was beautiful.

Double blind tests have confirmed gold flutes are pointless
Stellar flute performance from a Genius composer, arguably the best orchestral piece. Thank you for touching our lives!

Huh? Flute volume is fine compared most instruments that arent brass
slight mistake at 0.38secs. Watch his expression! Don’t call him god. He’s not as good as john pierre rampal was or will ever be.

Actually that wasnt even a mistake
There's a word for people like you, and you're all over the Classical music scene, especially in opera: it's "pedant." And you are all tiresome.
Not a mistake at all!! He was using his breath to caress the phrasing
