I have watched around 100 performances of this piece, both live and on UA-cam and no other performance has come close to this one. Claudio was the performer's maestro. He could get the best and more out of each and every one. RIP Maestro
My favorite video of a concert. The excited yell of the guy in the audience, the brief distraction of the Maestro Abbado and the joy every one is having, musicians an the audience with their dancing umbrellas is the whole pourpose of art. 6 minutes of collective enlightment.
I love watching this over and over - our orchestra is playing WT in a few weeks and I have the solo part. Monsieur Pahud is an inspiration. How he interprets the solo is perfected fitted with the English Horn. The synergy between the two is beautiful.
Definitivamente la vida de esta pieza es el Triángulo. El triangulista es quien merece los aplausos dado que debe tener destreza, habilidad, precisión y sincronización. Un extensivo aplauso para este músico.
Thanks for providing this video of my favorite performance of the William Tell Overture part 2 and the amazing finale. The orchestra and Claudio Abbado are awesome at this concert. Claudio Abbado passed away 1.20.2014 at the age of 80.
I learned to recognize classical music like this by watching Saturday morning cartoons like the Coyote and the Roadrunner, Yosemite Sam, Tom and Jerry, and lots of other good stuff. It made me familiar enough to recognize Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Beethoven, Wagner, and many others. I loved Merry Melodies back in the day before Disney became a communist pile of crap.
yes - this one is the best Version of this peace. Dieses Stück wurde während der Taufe meiner Tochter in Bonn am Taufbecken Beethovens gespielt. For Eternity! Now she live in Swizzerland. What a wonder!
I love this video so much!! but the quality is really bad... can you upload an high quality version? It's almost impossible to find this video anywhere else

Its great when the members themselves are smiling and enjoying the song!

2:48 when the conductor gets distracted by the cheer and realizes he’s already a page behind 😂
Fantastic Claudio Abbado
Whenever I want to feel like a human being...I watch and listen to this.
I'm back a year later...during the covid plague to regain my humanity.

Love Abbado's smile when someone in the audience calls out "Hi, Ho Silver" or maybe something in German.
You can tell it's a good piece of music when the audience is bouncing their umbrellas to the beat.
The wonderful Monsieur Pahud
The best version I have yet to hear.

OMG. What a rendition!!
Why do they never show the flutes in the finale? They have such a great part.

It is so tender!

And, more important, the sound and the picture are a few beats out of alignment, which is very disconcerting.

What is that disturbing clicking and screeching noise entering in so often, it spoils the music?
Great. I think Jasmine Choi does it just a bit better.
