Thank you for these videos. I wish you had exercise videos for after surgery one week on, two week on, three week on, after a month, after two mos etc.
I so appreciate these videos! Thank you! I had a kinda rare situation and had mcl and acl rebuild and tears... Wasn’t healing in therapy but could do the heel slides and sometimes be weight bearing, but 6 months later had a second surgery to clean up loose debris which was getting in the way of my healing. Then covid hit and no more PT. I am gaining strength but when so long without PT and appreciate these kind of moves to help stabilize my hips and knees! Thank you!!! Will keep doing them, please keep posting!!!
Hello, I’m on my 12th week having my other knee replaced in 8 weeks. Just spotted your exercises I think they will be helpful to strengthen my knee replacement before the second one is operated on 😊
Good luck. I wonder if I should get my other knee asap so I don’t lose as much time off. Please let us know how you make out. Good luck. I am 5 weeks out. Had a major set back. Went out a couple times for 4-5 hours with a cane. Was not a good idea yet grrrr so back to square it seems. Live and learn the hard way 😫😫😫 don’t want to be in this pain ever as long as I live lol
I've added the kick the invisible ball into my physio sessions at 8 weeks and it and your other movements has really help to achieve more bend after the knee being swollen for 6 of my 8 weeks post op.
If you are restricted for time you can focus on working on your surgical leg first, but if you do have the time it is always good to perform all exercises for both legs. Thanks for the question!
I have been healed for about a year and my knee will go to about 135 to 140 deg. I have been looking to get back to my previous yoga positions. Do I need to worry about overstretched? I don't mind the pain but don't want to damage the artificial joint...
I would have minimal worry of this. The reason being pain or discomfort will limiting way before you get to any range of motion that will be harmful for the knee prosthetic. Bending or straightening the knee significantly doesn't really damage or effect the longevity of the replacement. The limiting factor will be more the amount of stretch the muscles and other soft tissue tolerate.
Thanks for the feedback. In general, any unilateral exercise I recommend performing for both sides. So for example, the single leg deadlift I would perform with the surgical leg as the stance leg and as the swing leg. Hope this helps!
Is it normal that the knee goes numb and get pain shooting in your knee 3 maths after total knee replacment, being hard to bend after leaving leg strait on bed for a while.thks
Numbness after knee replacement is common, typically it is not the whole knee but more commonly the lateral / outside part and often the lower part of the knee, too. Pain is also not uncommon but hopefully by 3 months this is decreasing in intensity and frequency. Typically both of these symptoms will continue to slowly diminish up to 6 months and even sometimes up to a year after surgery. With the bending after having the knee straight, this can be common, too. I usually recommend doing some gentle range of motion and stretching exercises first thing in the morning or after not moving a long time to help promote blood flow, fluid to the knee joint and "limber it up" so to speak. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
This is usually due to scar tissue formation, but also may be due to swelling and the soft tissue around the knee (ligaments / tendons) still adapting to the new knee. One of the best things for knee stiffness is to just keep moving... both your knee and your body. Gentle activity as easy as walking can help your body and tissues adapt and continue to heal and feel better with time. Best wishes!

Do you do replacement leg first

It would be helpful to know which is the surgical knee😊

After 2months of TKR can I join Aquafit.
Yes, as long as your incision is closed and healed you can submerge in water.
Why is my knee still so tight?
