    Really fast solo first trip van tour, it's pretty simple and I didn't get a chance to really finish but I had a choice to go or stay home and I decided to just go, if I need something I can always stop and get it along the way.
    This trip almost got canceled due to a flooded basement over the weekend and some medical stuff we had going on for Stacey, we were waiting for results from a biopsy for her and lucky to say NO CANCER! I still have to deal with the basement but I got a new sump pump installed and everything is drying out now.
    I am heading to Clarksdale MS for a blues festival my brother Dicky James is playing at, going solo packed super fast super light but wanted to share a bit of video of the no build build so to speak.
    I will finish out my planning and do a full real tour video later just things have been SO rushed.
    Got a bit of a hold up on the expressway and ended up at planet fitness in Florence Kentucky, super nice facility, will stay the night then workout shower and hit the road again in the morning.
    Bill :)

    For the longest time I was thinking of buying a truck camper and then an Econoline camper van, but I think the most practical is a minivan or big SUV (Expedition, Excursion) with a mattress/frame/cooler/cassette toilet/batteries/heated blanket.

    Hi just catching this about a year later. And the converting a minivan to a camper van bug bit me about 3 weeks ago. I had set a home for 5 to 6 weeks after having been hit waiting for the insurance company to come up with a figure for the value of my Dodge Caravan. So it's been about a week now that I got my settlement and procured a new to me Van. I'm thinking a Dodge Grand Caravan is larger than what I ended up with. So what I have now is a basic 2010 Chrysler Town & Country Touring Minivan. Only comes with power front and rear vent windows. And an automatic tailgate lift. The side doors are not powered. Today I finished cleaning the carpet and rear seats. I've been at it about 4 days. A few hours a day. So while waiting for the check to arrive so I can get my replacement vehicle after about 4 days out 4 days I started watching these UA-cam videos. About conversion and camper vans n SUVs. No build and build. I thinking a soft/no build. My curiosity is if you have a no build what or how is the bed frame made up of and can you tell me about the mattress?
    -TIA
    PS. I think I might get a membership to PF. I already have 1 at the Y and SNAP FITNESS.

      This is our bed video, they are independent of each other so we could run one or two beds, the foam topper pieces are also linked in the description of that video, heck sometimes when i go solo i dont even take a platform, i just use the topper laying on the floor, its not level but its comfortable enough. Every trip i find more to remove or bring, always a work in progress and depends on how long and who all is going. It's alot of fun though ive spent many a night watching videos getting ideas! In the grand caravan there are cup holders back there, the stupid car tray has these legs on it I stuffed a bit of foam in the cup holder to help snug one of the legs in and it worked so well I am just so happy with it.
      I’ve drove 6 hours so far with the cpap on the tray and the tray in the cup holder it hasn’t moved the gripping on the top tray has held it in place and I think the cpap weight has helped it stay in place too.
      I have the cpap cord under the cutter edge of the platform to help support it, it’s funny the one in the front seat replaced a seat organizer thing I had that nothing stood or stayed still, but nothing has moved on the stupid car tray in front or in back.

    I’m a Toledo suburbs Ultramarathon runner with a 12 seat Chevy express “Big Green” van I use as “base camp” for weekend races around the Midwest, (One of those Ultra’s I’ll be running btw is Hallucination100/Run Woodstock Sept 9-11th). Other than those weekends I have six kids I shuttle around so I’m building it out this year better but still temporary so I’ll use some of what I saw here. I am a planet fitness black card member but never thought of mapping those out & that’s huge…many thanks because after 24-30 straight hours of trail running I will definitely be needing a long shower, a hydro bed, and a safe parking lot lol! I’m going with a 6” trifold mattress 78”x39” on top of a similar sized simple plywood box to store totes of gear within & probably just a big cooler. I will be ordering one of those fans. Be awesome

    • @BonsaiKeto
      @BonsaiKeto 2 роки тому +3

      Bill here, omg i love those little fans, and yea PF is awesome for even just a quick walk on treadmill, use showers, hydrobeds, tanning and I have even used them just for bathroom stops! Seems like every trip i take less with me, when I first started I had a packed van, then I would get home and realize 60% of it i didnt use, or thought i needed, a good bed, fan, cpap, battery and for me coffee maker hehe, I like too seeing out all my windows as i drive, it may not be as impressive of a list of things but i am slowly finding less is best (for me at least).

      I have such weird schedules I have rolled up at 4am gone in worked out showered came out laid down 3-4 hours nobody seemed to care or notice (I’m just a minivan), and then when I woke I went back in worked out again showered again. When I was in Florence I was telling the guy about making a trip across multiple states using the van as a camper and stopping at planet fitnesss along the way he didn’t seem to have any comments of concern and he knew I was coming back in later in the morning. But I hadn’t specifically asked if I could sleep in my van in their lot for a few hours.

      Sure thing! The cpap in the van has been great! At that time I was using a 500 watt unit that i would charge up as I drove each day via the van's 110 outlet, but now i have a larger unit the bluetti ac200p which is 2000 watts and the cpap barely even sips anything from that larger battery, plus it has a larger inverter so i can run things like my keurig coffee maker and or even a microwave (altho i dont have a small one yet), i am loving having more battery power i seem to go thru alot on the road with laptops, coffee, cpap, the fridge, hot logics, etc

      Carla, I made him go on the trip, he needed the time with friends. It took almost a week to dry the basement out to where I felt comfortable to get things back together. I laid the floor when we first finished the basement so I didn't think it would be a big deal to fix it. Having said that, when I first laid the floor I did a floating floor without seams, we used a floor fan to dry under the vinyl - it did a wonderful job but the floor shifted with the airflow underneath the floor. It has taken me a little longer to get back together with one trouble spot. Bill helped out before he left but the floor is all me. Have a wonderful day, thanks for watching!
