Man, this song cuts to my very heart. I lost my brother to cancer two months ago. He had Down's Syndrome and autism, and was a beautiful, beautiful soul.
At his memorial service my mom got up, very impromptu, and talked about how, when she found out that my brother was going to have these disabilities, she said, "Okay, God. If you're going to give me this child, then you're going to have to provide for him, because I don't know how to." And provide for them, he did, and perfectly so.
So when I listen to this song, to that second verse, that is my mother talking to her Creator about my brother. It's amazing, and beautiful, and healing. Thank you, Josh. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.
