I’m not a Christian, but I don’t have to be one to recognize that this might just be art in its purest and most sincere form. I can hear the belief in his voice, see it in his eyes, his faith. And I truly respect that.
Your absolutely right you don’t have to be a Christian to express appreciation for art just as you don’t have to be an atheist to walk into an art gallery and find appreciation for the art displayed on the wall. But this is more than just appreciating of art. This is about re-establishing a relationship with the artist. The artist who not only speaks through His art but redeems it, satisfies it and walks with it. Crimson, I pray you search out the truth. The greatest sacrifice was made by God Himself for the sins of the world through Jesus the Christ. He willingly laid down His life to atone for the sins of ALL of us- when He never sinned. Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin. All have sinned and broken God's commandments and all are unworthy to enter the kingdom of God without being cleansed of all unrighteousness. It's the righteousness of the Son of God- Jesus, that God sees in us at Judgment and not our own good works. To be right with God, we must repent, humble ourselves before God, cry out to the Lord and earnestly seek Him while He may be found. It's too late when we die. Seek Him friend.

Until yesterday I was on holiday in Denmark with friends, when I heard that the health of my beloved grandma deteriorated quite rapidly. Yesterday I took the long way home on a train, to see her one last time. After the long day spent in the train, I could spend some time with her in the evening, hold her hand, say goodbye. About an hour after I left her last night she passed away with my mother holding her. This morning I put on some music on shuffle and this song came on and I had to cry. You are loved, dear grandma.
This song makes me feel nostalgic and introspective. Josh I believe the Lord has anointed you to reach the lost and the broken in this world in a way that a lot of people are unable. Bless you as you write, sing and play for the Glory of the Father!

We all have the same annointing...
We are all anointed to preach the Gospel, but the Lord has anointed us all in different ways. Not everyone is anointed to share the truth through songs. David was anointed in a way that brought Peace to Saul, not everyone in Israel had that same anointing.
We all have anointing(1 John 2:20), there are different gifts and talents, but we all have the same anointing. In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit was on the people, and that is not relevant to the New Testament, where the Spirit is in the people. He functioned differently. NT never speaks of different levels of anointing or different anointings. Sorry, but that WOF/Pentecostal doctrine is just not true.
Hands down in my opinion, thr most humble, gospel centered worship singer/musician. So non mainstream, and deep lyrics. I have just read about « the problem with CCM ». The subject is completely unknown here, in Europe / France.
The life is not a long quiet river, Christian or not.

I think the difference between being a Christian and not is that while the sea is rough for all people alike, Jesus throws you a life vest in case you fall off the boat so you don't sink into the abyss. And then after your voyage you go home to a beautiful place of incorruption to dine an unimaginable feast with all the best of your friends, including Him :) and the joy and peace lasts eternally. But the journey is not easy, in fact much harder for the real Christians because we suffer as Christ did (denying the flesh and the things of this world), for His Name's sake. HalleluYah!
I loved my ex (a lot), but she broke the trust in the relationship.
It was really hard to let her go, but I had to. This realization came when I was on a long term stay in Hawaii, 4000 miles away from home.
I remember listening to this on the way back, and it just completely fit where my head was at.. flying back to say goodbye to her.
Two years later I still think about that girl, but I know God has a plan for me. Heartbreak teaches us many things...

Im agnostic, but for 7 years, I have been coming back to Josh Garrel's music. When I found him, my gf and I were going through a dark time in our lives. Coming back now that things are better, something about the music and the message touches down deep into my soul. You don't even have to be a Christian to feel spirtually connected to this. This is art.

I just discovered this song. Man have I been missing out. Anyway in my spirit I felt that he's singing from the prodigal sons perspective. He came back to the father thinking that the father would not accept him due to his sin and turn him away. Hence the words to see you one more time, to hold you and say goodbye.

Nah I felt the same way. One of my favorite Josh Garrels songs (At The Table) is about the prodigal son, and these lyrics kind of remind me of that song - maybe that's why.

Exactly, I’ve got a Christian friend who recommended me this and shit man, I’m not sure if I’m crying because of the song or because I’ve been playing video games for 3 hours.
Thank God for independent artists who are smart enough to stay far away from the corporate puppeteer machine of cheesy Christian pop music. God does not live in a box. Josh Garells is my go to on iTunes. When people ask what my favorite song is, I pull up an entire album.

Yeah Josh Garrels, has been a huge inspiration musically to me. I've heard it said that if we as Christians claim to worship the God of all creation, should we not (as those made in the image of God) reflect in some way that infinite creativity in our endeavors. This so directly spoke to my family situation, with my brothers. And parents. From the wild grass grown high, on the road between our lives, (separated and distant) to a heritage (Christian) passed along, to the sons (5 of us) like a blessed song. All in the context of saying goodbye. It's ridiculous how much of this song is applicable. I'd say more but it's not my place, and we are still in the midst of it all. It's a word for our family at this time.
I relisten to this over and over and every time I wish I could like it again haha! Just enjoy Josh Garrels' lyrics so much.

This speaks of our Father in Heaven tilling the soil of stony hearts or fallow ground to give us a heart of flesh. It speak of how he works in our the soil of our hearts to make it soil where his word can grow and take root. This is something we can't do on our own. He draws us before we even know how badly we need him. So that we might be like trees plant by a stream. -Psalm 1. Praise my Father in Heaven who loved me and sent his son Jesus so I could have a relationship with him. For he is my reward and portion. All glory and honor to my Father in Heaven through Jesus Christ my Lord.

What really resonates with me is an earthly father and son relationship and how earthly fathers should bless their sons! This is for you, FATHERS! When you read the whole passage, the admonition is to lift your voices high... because your words are like a heritage passed to your sons. For those who are fathers, this probably resonates with you. Your words/interactions with your sons is like a farmer turning the soil.... it's a beautiful word picture. And as he says, your efforts with your sons will outlive you.

I really appreciate how all the songs on the CD work so well with each other. Really if you actually want music that brings the essence of "home," you have to listen to the CD in its entirety. I think it's an album that's truly from the heart, and it's very much needed. I usually listen to techno, but I can SING this entire album, and for me that's saying a lot. When I first heard the album I thought "huh, I'm not sure what to think." But boy did the heart win me over--and it's one of, if not my favorite album now.
So Josh, or anyone connected with making this album(if you actually read this): Thank you. Thank you for sharing your heart, and a piece of your home with us. It has encouraged me in times I just wanted to feel at home, and at times I simply wanted to rejoice to the Lord. You are a gift that I continually appreciate.
This song reminds me of my Grandpa Lane who passed away about 2 years ago. I was at work and my youngest sister came to tell me with my first cousin that he was really sick and that we had to leave as soon as possible. We flew to Detroit from MSP, and got there about 3 hours before he passed. Thanks to God who rescued Josh Garrels, and has given him this amazing talent to encourage the Christian brother and sisters on this journey we have here on earth. I'll always remember my Grandpa Bill who grew on a dirt poor farm in SE MIssouri, and made a new life and family in the Detroit area. He was a southern gentleman and is greatly missed. See you in the bye and bye Grandpa!

Could you do me a favor? I would like a few people to pray for my mom, she has been suffering from constant severe migraines for about 13 years. Her nerves are so damaged that she can only see in black and white, and is losing her sight. She already is deaf, so becoming blind would be very hard for her. She said the day she goes blind us the day she kills herself. Please pray for her, I don't want this to happen.
