An interesting and lovely film to watch. I've watched many of you're videos this last six months while receiving Chemotherapy. I've enjoyed them all, they have kept the flame of cycling and camping etc alive in me while I have been so ill. I appreciate all the effort and work you put into making these. They bring the outdoors into my living room, thank you so much. I' ve finished treatment which has left me very weak/exhausted. But I'm getting out on my ebike now which I have to help me along after over 50 years of riding an ordinary bike. Long may you continue to enjoy the outdoors and make the lovely videos for us all to enjoy.
Hey Mick, Thanks for your comment. I'm pleased to hear your on the mend. Getting out is really crucial to mental and physical health, it's something I myself have to do as often as I can. Get the heart and blood pumping, get the good endorphins, this will all aid with a full recovery:)
Great video sandy very enjoyable and interesting if you ever get the chance try the inspector morse tours as you can go into places that the public are not usually allowed into looking forward to next video either motorcycling or a wide camp 😊
@@WiltshireMan Hi Sandy, I live with my wife, Teresa in a place called Sandymoor inbetween Runcorn and Warrington in Cheshire. If ever you need a place to stop over on your way North at anytime let me know. We are both retired NHS workers who are now using the services from a patients perspective. I'm relatively new to youtube, started watching your videos back in January having started chemotherapy in December. They just appealed to me straight away. Please accept the cash as the least I can do for what you're adventures have given me.
What a lovely country side with so much history. Visiting the stomping grounds of The Inkling has always been a dream. I may get to do it. My daughter starts studying for MA in Historic Building Preservation in York.
@@mar0364 She'll be able to visit the little village of Roos from York (about 50 mile away), where Tolkien was inspired to write about Beren and Lúthien’ in The Silmarillion. I'll leave you to look it up.
Hi Sandy. The Arch in Oxford..I always think of Inspector Morse and the famous Jag. The graves were interesting as both had no reference to their literature lives. Good video 👍📸
A fantastic Pilgrimage! I half expected to see Morse driving by in his spectacular Jacuar! I'm a pipe smoker, and Lewis and Tolkien are Cheers!god's to the pipe smoking community!
Good distance covered and some interesting finds. It's good to mix the planned rides with the occasional ad-hoc foray. Most of my rides are for a bit of foraging in Waitrose! 😁
Another beautiful bicycle ride through an amazingly beautiful countryside Sandy. There seems to be an abundance of some very successful and important people in your area that had definitely left their marks in history. I think that it is a great idea to include the visits of the various burial grounds into your adventures, it does add a very inspirational value to the whole experience. Thank you to both you and your good friend Dave for allowing us to join you. See you on the next one.
@@campfire52 I got that wrong Terry not Oscar Wilde he is burried somewhere in France, I meant George Orwell. No not covered these before, the one I did do was Ian Flemming, author of the James Bond novels, he's only 3 or so miles away
Nice ride Sandy & Dave. You might enjoy a ride to the final resting place of another literary great, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes who is down in Minstead in the New Forest. I have been there a few times. Keep up the great work & rides Wiltshire Man 👍
Interesting. We had George Orwell in our village of Sutton Courtenay, Oxfordshire famous graves include, Winston Churchill, Agatha Christie, Dusty Springfield etc.
@@WiltshireMan Interesting, I grew up there from aged 5, happy times swimming in the river and riding various dirt bikes up the fields around the power station. If you look on google maps, it is twice the size now, houses being built all over!!!! You will find a prime minister and newspaper tycoon both buried in the churchyard, an old abbey, thatched houses, the wheel from the paper mill used to turn when I was a kid, and Tim Burton still lives there....oh and it stinks haha. The close landfill makes the place have a particular 'hum' ...!!!
Least you managed to get a decent day out weather wise. I’m suffering with low blood pressure today, woke up & passed out this morning. So off to the doctors again for a tune up later.
Tolkien… Been re-reading his books all my life. As to your adventures.. might I suggest the Sherlock Holmes museum in London… You already know the address I’m sure! 221B Baker Street! 😎
Hahaa I rarely go to London these days Nicholas as it's just to busy for me but I did visit 221B about 12 years ago, however a visit to All Saints church yard Minstead to visit his grave could well be on the cards for a future adventure
+13:46 the extravagant grave wouldn't be these scrotes would it ? Shurley not. "An 82-year-old traveller and his daughter have been jailed for taking a vulnerable disabled teenager from a hostel and making him their slave for 30 years - before stealing £130,000 worth of his benefits. Christopher Joyce and his family 'selected' 15-year-old Nicholas Iliff from a hostel and took him to their traveller site at Redbridge Hollow in Oxford, saying they would look after him. But when he tried to flee, he was captured and strung up from a tree with a hood over his head." Got themselves on the BBCs Video Nation a couple of times too. Beautiful Christians.

60 mile round trip? On a bicycle? 😮 Better legs than me and I'm 41. Maybe I've become lazy? Great video as always. 👍🫡
Brilliant tour, I love visiting final resting places, museums and blue plaque buildings of the great and good.
Thanks for getting me back into cycling did my first bike packing down the Southdowns link to the coast
Cycling is great exercise, it's something I plan on keeping up for a long time
Beautiful rides. wish your videos had "closed captains."
Kepp sharing with us! Thank you!
Another fascinating trip Sandy. Lovely area around the outskirts of Oxford too.
Thanks for making the video really enjoyed seeing the cities you go through
3 speed ,with the gear changer on the handlebars. back in the 1960's we called them "English Racers". Shark in the roof made my day, Sandy!
Hahaa that Shark roof is quite something, Bill H had a sense of humour for sure

So many interesting things to see. Very modest graves for great authors. Thanks for showing us that Sandy, always a pleasure seeing history.
Yes I thought thaat too Jim, yet the Gypsy graves were well OTT in my opinion

It's the grave with the pipe on it@@WiltshireMan 🙂. Interesting backstory to it too as he was originally buried somewhere else.
A lovely pilgrimage sandy
Oh c.s Lewis died on the day I was born ...spooky
Cumnor Oxford, I used to deliver to The Bear And Ragged Staff just ahead of that village pond, early AM 🫡
Nice one mate great journey all best to Dave as well

Nice one cycle safe roads ahead🍀
Oxford was my old stomping ground sandy. I was born at the JR in Headington a few moons ago now 😂. ♥️♥️👍👍
We all have to be born somewhere Marcus:)
another gudun thamkyou
Nice ride Sandy, bit disappointed that the gravestones weren't a wardrobe and a tower with the eye of Sauron on it.
Hahaa that would be funny Si.
Eru Ilúvatar likes this, Tolkien deserves a world of respect

What happened to the Brompton videos?
The Brompton has mostly been used for trips into town and shopping and that sort of content won't really make good viewing in my opinion.

To think C S Lewis passed very close in time to J F Kennedy. Madness 😬🫡
