I think selling your potential is such a difficult but critical thing to be able to do, especially as a college student applying to jobs. But showing your willingness to learn is definitely a great point that can be extremely valuable.

Great video as always, Patrick! Another key tip I'd add is, at the end of the interview when the recruiter gives the candidate the floor to ask questions - make sure close out by asking if there's anything else they unsure about in terms of your qualification/skills that might prevent you from moving forward. In case, there as critical item you failed to touch on or a key skill you forgot to demonstrate, the recruiter might guide you towards it and you'll have a chance to change their mind! This is critical step for interviews for any position but especially important for sales people as it demonstrates your ability to identify possible objections and handle them (while also giving you more "screen-time" to impress the interviewer). :)
this is all 100% true. I got into sales bc i saw potential in it as a career (every business needs someone to sell their products/services), had MAD social awkwardness & anxiety but the attitude of being open to learning is what get me hired in some shitty and great companies that taught me a lot and gave great experience. Hope this helps someone out there that needs the extra umph to get into sales (Defs build another skill on top to be more desirable-eg. Coding or UX Design to be a BDM in design/creative companies or SaaS companies.)
Patrick, for many of us facing constant rejections after many interviews, you've been a great pillar support. All the best to all everyone here, and also to myself in our interviews.
Hey I just wanted to express to everyone these videos really works , I’ve watched literally all of your videos bro because I had a interview with my dream job today and I actually got it thank to your videos thank you so much 🙏🏾
I’ve been watching your vids in preparation so a sales interview and using your techniques I was able to land the job. I used the closing question and the interviewer loved it. I appreciate the help
I have 2 years experience in sales given 10 interviews in last month not getting job though I was asking more salary but todday before going interview watched you video in bus and twisted some answers. Voila got job and they can you start from today and started 7 days training. Thannnnnnk u.
I am starting my career again into sales after the 2 years career break. Your video's help me a lot to prepare for an interview. It's actually very insightful. Thanks you
Dropping that heat, Patrick!!! I have an SDR role for Quantum Metric coming up and seeing this interview is helping me be prepared and confident. Wishing you much blessings with this channel.
Thanks for this video! I had a phone screening with HR for first round yesterday and realized I did all of these methods you talked about! Hopefully I'll go through to 2nd round and get hired so I can keep watching your great content and put them to use.
Hey Patrick, thank you so much. I love everything about this video. I watched this one multiple times to fully let your tips sink it and I was able to get an offer despite having zero prior sales experience. Thank you for providing great content and extending a helping hands to those of us who aren't at the top of the food chain. Much respect and appreciations!
i have an interview coming up for an SDR position...a little context- I am a social worker that never considered Sales in the Tech Industry...after watching your video...I feel a lot more confident going into this interview....Thanks Patrick! (......and SUBSCRIBED! lol....)
@@patrickdang Thanks Patrick! I have not been offered a position yet, but I passed the interview with the recruiter this morning and now moving on to the hiring manager interview this Friday, hoping to seal the deal!!! Your videos have definitely helped me to stay cool, calm and confident throughout this first interview... massive thanks bro!
Hi Patrick I'm new to this industry and I got shoked to know that you are helping people's like me on sells with out holding back thank you so much and your videos are under rated people's must know that there is a man like you helping them to change there point of view to high ticket closeing 🤝 keep it up 👍 I will at list buy sharing your videos
I went for the interview after watching your video. Everything went well however couod not get through the job since i mention i dial 70calls in my current job. 😅
Look for entry level sales job where they understand you don't have much sales experience yet. These companies are willing to pay you a salary while they train you.
@@patrickdang unfortunately even for entry-level jobs they take someone who has more experience, just because it's a pandemic now and people are willing to get lower salaries just to have a job.
I am interviewing for a „Sales Executive“ position at Salesforce on Wednesday. I am not coming from sales (I am a PO at my company) so I am really nervous. I think my personality and strength would work pretty well for me in Sales though. I just wonder what to say when the „but you don’t have Sales experience“ thing comes up.
Hey Patrick, I'm currently preparing for my first BDR interview with Oracle next week and your videos have been an absolute lifesaver. Do you have any tips or advice on the best way to answer the "tell me about yourself" question? Thank you Patrick!
What would you say is the best question to ask at the end of the interview? (besides the "is there any reason you think I wouldn't be a good fit" question). Preparing for my interview with Oracle this week! Ur videos have been extremely helpful man, really grateful for ur content.
Personally I think the the "is there any reason..." is the best way to go. You can also ask a variation like, "what characteristics do you personally look for in a new sales hire." Then follow up with questions relating to whether or not you fit that description. Wishing you the best of luck with your interview!
2:56 I have been very successful while having Tinder dates in the last couple of years. But this is not something I could mention in an interview :D I have one in 3 hours for an outbound SDR position. I am taking notes from your videos. I hope I come back here later with good news :)
I think there are no right or wrong answers, just be yourself and answer as you feel it 😉 If you ask in meaning how to answer about yourself from a sales manager perspective, I think this video can help you find or form the answer ua-cam.com/video/yAIeiIr4aoo/v-deo.html
Great tips which should be required viewing for grad students, and very relevant for me personally moving between different industries without specific sales experience.
#patrickdang I am so grateful & thankful for your channel and content. This is going to allow me a major once-in-a-lifetime shoot to sell myself and SHINE BRIGHT LIKE A DIAMOND \8/!!!!! Thank you for sharing and caring enough to spread your know-how and all your wisdom and knowledge!! Well, wish me luck on 05.12.2020 I have a major interview that I want to NAIL IT!! Thanks to you I have an amazing advantage far ahead of the competition. Peace, Love, Light, and Blessings!!=))
@@patrickdang I've probably watched this at least 5 times now. Its a great guide for any job, catering your resume/skills and experience to what job you are going for. I am a finance graduate and I am getting into my first sales job now. Again, this is fantastic advice for young students or graduates like me who plan on going into sales!
Hey Patrick. I'm currently doing account management selling physical equipments in an engineering company. And I'm looking to switch into tech Saas companies. Its difficult because they always emphasise that candidates should have relevant Saas sales experience. Could you give some advise and insights on what I can do to land myself a job at Saas tech industries
Show that you can speak to the specific sorts of prospects that SaaS companies are selling to. That's one of the biggest concerns we screen for when it comes to candidates with no prior SaaS experience.
Sounds cool , its good to get better at selling yourself, but if they were better interviewers they would have been digging to sense this potential in you instead of rejecting you. My point is you were the same person with the same growth potential, all along (before and after), you just learned to broadcast what the interviewers (who should have been doing their job better) were looking for...
Thanks for your comment. Yes, there are many sales positions that don't require prior experience. So interviewers usually ask questions that will help them see whether you have potential in sales.

Great insights Lucas. That's a great way to apply your sales closing skills right at the gates. Cheers.
Don't stress. These companies are looking for entrepreneurs who are willing to be slaves for a portion of our day. You are the genius. They need you.
