My natural hair journey. My mom used to relax my hair for a long time, I would still wear braids and would wear fake ponytails and stuff. I did this for a couple or years. I started off around age 4-6. I would not do it often though, fortunately. My mom then texturised my hair and stopped relaxing it, thinking it was better than relaxer. We did this for 2 years. Luckily, she decided to go let us go natural. It wasn’t too late so I didn’t have to cut off my hair. Most of my friends’ hairs looked longer than my hair because they continued to relax their hair making it go down, while I was stuck with a shortish Afro, they mocked me. I envied them, until the relaxer damaged their hair and they went natural so they cut off a lot of hair. They now envy my hair which is waay past my collarbone. *GO NATURAL, EVEN IF IT IS HARD*
Yaasssss! Karma got them back 😂, when I was 4-7 or older I’m not sure but when i was younger my mum used to texturise my hair and it would stay down but I think at some point (can’t remember what age) I was able to transition to my natural hair. One of my sisters cut their hair ( a big chop basically) and my other sister relaxes her hair so now during quarantine me and my mum are trying to grow our natural hair. ( that was a long paragraph no one asked for, meaning mine. 😂😅) EDIT: she (my mum)used to trim mine and my sisters hair but then stopped I don’t know why though 🤔
It wasn't even my choice to relax my hair. My mom had started relaxing my hair from young, I never had a choice. Now I know how horrific relaxer is and I'm trying to get my natural hair back.
My mom relaxed my hair since I was a kid. I still hate it, so I after some disagreements, she's finally letting my hair go natural and I really needed to know how to maintain natural hair.
Damn how’s it going!! I’ve been getting it straightened since I was little and sadly only from the internet and it the out world, where is my Afro? (My hair is thick, but ends are straight) lol so I’m tryna let it grow too and get a cut
I am currently transitioning and I was so against doing the big chop. This has been so helpful and comforting. I’m 8 months into it now, and I’ve been tempted to quit, coz it’s been so emotionally challenging. But this was great and I’m glad you shared this. Thank you. BTW you look amazing 😍
It's the emotional and frustrating state that made me take up the big chop decision. From Jerry curl to relaxer. My hair was a total mess. It will break so bad. I felt so sad.. needless to cry. I had a big chop few days ago. I feel safe. My hair was really damaged. I've lost my edges. I really want to grow back my hair so bad but this time naturally. Without the chemicals. I'm really hopeful this works great.
I just notice that a lot of those choosing to no longer chemically treat their hair treat relaxers as if its the worst thing ever (no judgement) I say that, because if the care and attention and products and TIME that goes in caring for kinky hair was applied to chemically treated hair the results would be the same. We can honestly say relaxers make us a little lazy b/c its easy but non-chemically treated kinky hair is a JOB and for some reason people are willing to put in the work. Just a thought...
Danièll Harber It’s not “for some reason”. The reason isn’t a mystery, it’s quite clear. People (like myself) are willing to put in the work in order to reach their goals. Hair is healthier without chemicals so no, the results “wouldn’t be the same”
You make me feel a little better now. I am only 3 months in and I'm wearing box braids right now. I'm scared because I've always had long hair with a perm, but also excited because I had such beautifully thick and long hair before my mom permed it. My hair is long, but also thinned quite a bit over the years from perms and I dont really get it trimmed. I want to go natura without cutting off my hair. Thank you for this video
I love this video because when you showed the old pictures of you and how you tried to do a high puff, that was literally what my hair looked like when I tried to do it so I'm so ready to go back natural. Thank you so much for the tips❤️❤️
I truly needed this video , I perm my hair because of same reason ( didn’t know how to care for it or style ) but after putting a perm I was so upset 😭 so this video is want I needed. Thank you 🙏🏾
I’ve stopped relaxing my hair as of recently and it’s already grown quite a bit! I’m going to let it all grow out and then once it gets very noticeable I’ll cut off my relaxed hair! (AT A SALON- not by myself because dear god)
My mom asked me if i want to relax my hair and I said yes. I wanted to relax it because I thought it would look longer and easier to manage and I always get jealous of people with long pretty natural hair. I relaxed it late last year, Its been like 3-5 times since its been relaxed, and I'm glad my mom isnt against me trying to go back natural. Now I want to go back natural and start my hair growth journey. (I kinda started it already, by putting aloe Vera in my relaxed hair and its been like more than a month using it) I've been taking care of my hair tho (at least that's what I think) I've been using the aloe, I deep condition my hair and moisturize it.

Hi I’m also transitioning. I learned that because your natural hair and relaxed hair have two different textures there’s something called the “line of demarcation” where your relaxed hair and natural hair meet. This area is more prone to tangling and breakage. So it’s normal to have a bit more tangles. I would try to be more gentle when detangling that area. If you use a brush, I would try to use a comb more often.
hi dear i am having a hard time to keep my edges down at this moment i am transitioning too for over a year now, but i am very frustrated over my hair. please help me out here please.
I don’t relax/ perm my hair anymore but my hair keeps cutting everytime I take off my braids what does that mean? Does it mean my hair is cutting only to my natural parts?
My mom is finally listening to me she let me cut most of her hair off yesterday so that's the first step . I'm gonna cut some more off after she takes out her box braids . She's going natural I'm making her 😂 and she's gonna see all her hair growth and regret Saying bad things about natural hair

I’ve always get the back of my hair trim to the scalp now it’s growing back and it’s natural so what do I do with the top and sides that’s still straight to get to Natural.
I want to stop relaxing my hair n go with natural hair but my hair is really due already for retouching n I don't know how to switch to natural hair .. what are the steps I should take if I want to switch to natural hair. How do I treat the under growth hair
You can start doing protective styles to hide the two different textures. Twists, braids, etc. if you want to wear your hair out you can also do braid-outs, twist-outs, and perm rod sets. you can slowly trim your hair as it grows out. I trim a small amount mine once a month, but you can go for longer without trimming. When your hair grows out you may learn that certain products don’t work for your hair anymore. You can start to experiment with new products.
Nice video. I was abt to do d big chop today but my mom said no 😂😂 my problem is dat i cant comb it. I've been on transition for 1 yr now. I can see it growing but its too hard to comb. I currently use Cantu, shae butter and coconut oil. Is dey something else i can use to help me comb it easily?
I had the same situation but thank God I used elvital extraordinary oil and the moment it touches my hair, it gets it straight away softened and moisturized. I can happily manage my hair now. Try it and you will be grateful i replied

How can I trim my hair , like without the big chop?
hi dear i am having a hard time to keep my edges down at this moment i am transitioning too for over a year now, but i am very frustrated over my hair. please help me out here please.
How did that go with your mom ? 😊
@@dominiquewyatt6704 her hair is really long now but she only wears her natural hair in a ponytail, flat ironed or keeps her hair in braiding hairstyles . She doesn’t ever want a relaxer again so that’s a good thing at least

Reverting Back To Natural After a Year Of Creamy Crack Is a Headache Not The Maintaining But the Cost Of Finding Product That Works For You & Me Knowing I Have To Chop Most Of My Hair Back Off Cs My Curl Pattern Is All New Grow😭🥴🤒 any recommendations
