Nancy mastered the open chords due to her sharp ears for music. How she incorporated these techniques in her songwriting is quite extra ordinary for a guitarist. She has the knack for romantic melodies and reveal her virtuosity in the instrument. Love Alive is one of my favorite she performed on acoustic guitar. Very lovely but mysterious. She may be calling it “a scale thing” because the harmonized run changes keys? The low run goes E D C B A while the high harmony run goes G F# E D C#. It’s two scales, one scale into another. So damn original and so damn good on the guitar and deftly creating a mood. It takes a great guitarist to even try to copy her sound, and they can never quite pull it off.
