@@78779 no. Boings software caused the crash. Same thing happened in Indonesia.
@@jakejhons5138 Not really, software was faulty but crew overspeed aircraft, and they weren't able to control it after disabling MCAS.
Lots of time we give credit to the pilots but the real credit belongs to the plane manufacturers who built strong planes to handle situation like this.

The Ethiopian pilot did a good job in controlling the plane it seems a high wind effect which try to push the Wings of the place , but the pilot did a good landing , well trained and confident pilot .
The wobble was caused by the pilot overreacting. The only “save” was from the aircraft impacting with the ground.
Mate… have a look at the Lufthansa landing after in the same conditions. wings didn’t even move.

@@popkerns1567 possibly! however if it was a wind-shear they should of performed the mandatory wind-shear escape manoeuvre. The flying conditions look fairly nice that day. To be honest they should of went around anyways!

I'm from Ghana , flown Ethiopian severally , I like the wendemnaw pilots , yene konjo flight attendants , I slept over and was given a lovely hotel , i went to see teddy afro perform , I love their food, dont ask me if tasted chaat :) shout out (ANCHEEEEE!!!!!) to Mita , Mila , Tsion, Tgst, Hanan & Samiya They would have shouted WOYEIII !!!!

The wind is the culprit, otherwise Ethiopian air lines is known for its safety reputation and well trained pilots. God bless the pride of Africa.

The last time I flew Ethiopian Airlines, I didn't even know that we landed. Smooth as hell. They are known for their pilot's skills. Shit happens men!

It depends on the day, taking weather into consideration as well, like wind, temperature etc. If conditions are perfect than you get a nice smooth landing, but some pilots do some not to hard landings just to help decel the plane.

This can happen to any Airplane something called " WINDSHEAR"...over which No one has annny control.. Hats off to the pilot who landed that Airplane sooo beautifully without any damage and you can see it taking off again in sometime...

The B777 freighter aircraft approach for landing probably being affected by bad weather like cross wind.Any way , the pilot managed to land safely.
It is obvious that this video is showing how well prepared the Ethiopian airlines pilots are. If I belonged to this airline I would be proud of it. Thank you AirLift for showing how its pilots maneuver to save the situation from unforeseen events like this. Everything is in how people want to see the glass, half empty or half full.
All that movement is from the pilot massively over controlling the aircraft. There was a bit of a wobble at the beginning but the pilot hugely over reacted and caused the whole event.

Ethiopian Airlines is the unsung hero of the industry. While other airlines were grounded, ETH was delivering covid equipments and now vaccine to all corners of the world. I have been flying with then for 30 years, they are the gold standard of Airlines. Bravo to the pilots with the safe landing here!!!!
Excellent Ethiopian pilot, was hit by gust at the last moment of landing and quickly managed to bring the beast down before it could rock any further. I think one more cycle would have been disaster and his timing was spot on.

Unfortunately the captain of this aircraft is an expat not Ethiopian. Ethiopian pilots are well trained and flew on short run ways in African airports , they mastered take of and landing way better than most prominent carriers.

It was not the wind! It was the LACK OF FLARE. Notice the vertical pitch is the same throughout the entire approach and touchdown. Do not confuse the wing rocking (horizontal component lift) with the hard touchdown (vertical component lift). Dont debate me.

This is bazar as Ethiopian pilots are known for their smooth landing as their home airport Bole International is a high altitude airport and they are also used to small airports in other African countries. Also, Ethiopian aviation academy is one of the most renowned in the world. This could be an expat pilot as Ethiopian is a high growth airline and is always short of Ethiopian pilots.

@@miniena7774 @ Yormsane is correct. This is pilot induced oscillation and who’s massive overcorrection by the pilot. The PIO wasn’t fixed, it came to a stop by the gear smashing into the runway. All very similar to the A380 footage of it swerving all over the runway on landing, caused by massive over controlling from the pilot.

That should have been a Go-Around. I’d be interested to know the descent rate, looks like PIO and late flare, if you pause when 1st gear touches down looks like aircraft almost in a 5-10 degree bank?!? If this was 8-9 mph wind, that’s pilot error. Landing gear was likely damaged. Former Boeing engineer that worked on 777 program, that was one of the hardest landings I’ve ever seen on a 777?! On the other hand the aircraft handled the pilots mistake. Amazing video thank you!

Looks like a stable approach until the wings start rocking just before touchdown. Maybe some clear air turbulence like someone else mentioned followed by some aggressive corrections by the crew.

That's hardly losing control. The pilots were brave and composed and experienced enough for the adverse conditions. I boarded a plane from a different airline headquartered in Italy that when it braked, it felt like one side was braking harder than the other and was drifting sideways when slowing to a stop. I will always fly Ethiopian even if they don't offer free WiFi
