Holy shit, this episode may have well jumped to as my favorite episode of the season right now and that’s with incredible episodes before. Troy as James was nice to see as well as David too and the episode was like one to one from the game. Bella and Pedro still solidify their statuses
I just noticed an extremely small but creepy detail. At 4:26, right as Ellie told them to drop their weapons, David had the slightest but creepiest smirk when he noticed it was a young girl's voice. Such amazing acting for such a hideous character.
The fact the little girl isn't crying when she's hit likely means this isn't the first time it has happened, and that she knows it'll be worse for her if she does react in any other way, which was really sad
As a SA survivor, I have to say that Joel finding Ellie and holding on to her, telling her she is safe now, is so cathartic and heartbreaking in equal measures. Because I KNOW this isn't a healthy coping mechanism, but there is still a part of me that wishes I could be held by a father figure like that, with the reasurrance that I can protect myself if need be, but that there is someone to comfort me too. And again, not to downplay the importance of female solidarity, but the thought of having a father figure in particular do that might be something a lot of SA survivors can relate to, especially if they never received that kind of support from their own parents.
33:05 I initially took their location to mean safety. Like Tommy's commune, the cold weather keeps the infected away (mostly). Though in the podcast the creators said the town was a 'resort' that probably looked very comfortable in summertime. Not so much in winter.
Gotta give props to Scott Shepherd. He absolutely nailed David's character, being charismatic enough at first, but still giving off the unsettling vibes.
The trauma Ellie experiences here plays a major part in all her future decisions. This was my favorite episode so far and that’s saying a lot. Loved this part of the game. Next episode will be epic and painful.
My favorite thing about watching reactions for this show is the faces of the people who played the game. The look of “they’re doing the exact thing!” and the being excited to talk about it but letting the non-players have the experience for the first time because they don’t want to take that away from them.
The 3 body's hanging in the freezer were likely strangers though they I do think they were eating Hannah's Dad. I say this because David sent out the 4 men to the nearby town to look for "supplies". He doesn't say what the supplies are but considering how the man, Alec came at Joel with a bat for no provoked reason makes me think the "supplies" included humans. Hannah's Dad could have been what they were eating since it has been a few days since he died and they didn't want him to "spoil" 🤢🤮 Or he could have been one of the headless bodies hanging in the freezer.
Or it could have actually been venison. That same day David asked how much food was left and James said venison, elk, rabbit if we ration it about a weeks' worth. Then again there were 3 bodies hanging there so the venison, elk and rabbit could have been referring to them.
Noticed a lot of women in reaction vids having a similar response, makes you think how many women have dealt with creepy mf'ers like David in their lives.
Worse thing is David says he always had a violent heart and he was a teacher... with how he treated both young women, he probably had a few victims before the outbreak. Really disturbing character.
24:49 was so stressed while watching, despite seeing game play by multiple people. I was so tensed up, mentally and physically, that when Joel said those words to Ellie, I LOST it. Started bawling🖐🏼💔 poor Joel and ellie. Heart always hurting for them
I'm not gonna lie, but seeing Chris tear up at the "baby girl" line fucking broke me more than the actual moment when I watched the show 😢😢 I know I've seen him be touched or affected by emotional moments in previous reactions, but that was a full-on, need to take the glasses off cry and I was not prepared for it!
"Can you imagine the first human to discover seasoning?" - it's how we used to preserve meat before freezers & refrigerators. Salt sucks a ton of moisture out of the meat and then covering it in pepper and other things creates a barrier from stuff getting into the meat.
this is why cultures from warmer climates tend to have spicier food! the spices also keep scavengers and bugs away. in cold climates, its much easier to just leave meat out in the cold.
David's group is also the group the old native couple in the cabin were talking about to Joel and ellie....which I'm pretty sure what Joel knew or probably suspected them being cannibals...which triggered his PTSD in that episode
That little girl mourning her father. And she ate her father without knowing she was eating him. "The ground is too cold to dig. We'll bury your father in the spring" was a cover. Her father had already been chopped up. And his wife is the one who put him in the stew, thinking it was dear but it was actually her husband.
Also I just realized. So the little girl. Her dad attacked Joel unprovoked. And he was part of a small group sent to find food. David said only a few know about the cannibalism. And it would make sense that the people he sent to get food would be aware of what would be considered food. If he knew people were on the menu, then it would make more sense why he would try and sneak attack Joel like he did. They went to find food. He saw two people, Joel and Ellie. He saw food. He attacked them unprovoked because he was sent to hunt for food, they are food. It makes sense now. Cause I kept thinking, 'but he attacked Joel, Joel was defending himself, why did your man attack someone unprovoked?' Cause he was sent to hunt for food and he knew that humans counted as food since they were cannibals. So when he saw Joel and Ellie, he didn't just attack unprovoked. He tried to hunt them. Failed miserably but that was why he did it. He didn't just attack unprovoked for no reason. He was hunting Joel and Ellie for food.

Episode 3 is my favorite emotional episode, literally top tier tv in tv history. But this episode is my favorite action/zombie episode so far. This was an awesome post apocalyptic sort of episode. Loved it.
Action zombie? There is not even an infected in this episode, how would you know 😂. Episode 3 is way overrated imo and the took away too much of what Bill is in the game.
"its okay babygirl, I've got you" hit all of us so fucking hard. Seeing chris and marketa have the same reaction to the scene and the words, they are gonna be the fiercest protective and loving girl parents in the future
Ellie channeled her inner Rorschach when David was trying to get her in the steakhouse. "I'm not locked in here with you! You're locked in here with me!"
Initially this episode was too much for me, just because I wasn’t expecting the violence against children and or the p*dophile/r**ist. It was so intense I started having flashbacks and ended up crying myself to sleep. HOWEVER…that is what makes it so good. It’s exposing people like Cathleen and David. Some of us see the red flags, as victims, but a lot of time no one catches them in time. Loved this reaction! Thank you guys for discussing even the most difficult topics. Much love!
40:17 So here's a horrifying fun fact, theyre not technically dead. In specific ant species, the cordyceps literally controls everything, but the brain. They take control of all motor functions and pretty much turn it into a meat puppet that still has its mind in tact. So in the show and going back to Sam's question about being a monster, you would pretty much be aware but not in control which is just terrifying
in the game joel initiates the hug they share at the end of the episode but here, ellie is who goes in for the hug, it's a very small detail but i love it so much.

@@Vale9118 I think the fact that the writers of the show are clearly taking an overall different approach to the storytelling structure than the games is a good indication that what happens in part 2 will be executed differently. It could possibly be much better and I have hope it will.
@@juicestains52 I don’t see all this “different approach” except for what happened to Bill and the only reason I think they did that was because his part in the game is really action packed and they preferred another direction… all the rest of the story is basically same as the game 🤷🏼♀️ if Ellie will be on a revenge journey it will have to be impactful as in the game or it won’t work
The barn scene with ellie is the part of the game that impacted me the most. I remember the fear choking me and the very real visceral feeling of "kill or be (WORSE than) killed". I remember being so shaken that after the end of the scene I quietly stood up, set down my controller and took a walk. I think it was even more terrifying because I am a woman and that is the moment that women fear the most in the most visceral and instinctive way. That she is a child, alone and forced to give up the last bit of her innocence to save herself in a way. Also, that of all the enemies and all the evil that we see in the game (and show) it's that I find the most horrific AND the most probable to actually occur.
The show The Terror is about the two ships that got lost looking for the Northwest Passage (and what happened to the crew)! I watched it a few weeks ago after seeing Yellowjackets, it’s very well done! One of the stars is Edmure Tully from GoT.
The fact David was a teacher back before the outbreak creeps me out even more.

Right and the outbreak allowed him to escape without being held accountable for his actions.

20:04 my man really said "E for effort"
Episode 3 is my favorite emotional episode, literally top tier tv in tv history. But this episode is my favorite action/zombie episode so far. This was an awesome post apocalyptic sort of episode. Loved it.
Action zombie? There is not even an infected in this episode, how would you know 😂. Episode 3 is way overrated imo and the took away too much of what Bill is in the game.
@@Vale9118 Action SLASH zombie, can you read?
@@sopsiarskye1577 well action/something that wasn’t there this episode, makes more sense
I meant zombie as in post apocalyptic zombie movie. And nah. Episode 3 is underrated.
6:45 “probably not efficient but it gets it where it needs to be” why am I fuckin cackling 😂😂😂
Wow, thanks I really hate that!
Marketa: "wtf is wrong with you?!"
Me: 😬😬😬 oh it gets worse
Suraj being the only one reacting to the meal...LOL...great self-control to not just tell everyone what that meat was and let it be revealed later.
"Internet, give me the ten hour cut of this" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
this was definitely my fav episode so far, im so excited and nervous for next episode. Bella Ramsay absolutely killed it
in the game joel initiates the hug they share at the end of the episode but here, ellie is who goes in for the hug, it's a very small detail but i love it so much.
Re-watch #2 and Mickey's face/screen from @15:39-15:59 took me TF-OUT 😆🤣😆
"Everything happens for a reason."
Ellie happened to David. Good for her.
oh my GOD, vintage internet meme gold right there 😂😂😂 my husband and I still shout badgerbadgerbadgerbadger MUSHROOM MUSHROOM at each other on the reg.
Love that there are others who recognize the vintage memes hahaha
That damn water glass is so close to the edge of your table it’s giving me crazy anxiety lol
33:56 was not expecting Chris to bring up my people (Inuit), pleasantly surprised 😎
(Of my people being recognized, not the story of what he was talking about)
When James was about to shoot Ellie and got stopped by David, I was half expecting him to say "sorry kid" cause he knew what David probably wanted to do.
9:17 when Suraj made a face and looked disgusted, he was ahead of the game. He knew EXACTLY what they were eating 😅😅 yo Suraj killed me with the 100 reference 😂😂😂😂 “you are One crew or against one crew!!” I am 💀
For what it’s worth, the horse wasn’t Shimmer. Shimmer was just a baby at Jackson. They took a different horse.
“Papa Pedro” OMG IVE BEEN SAYING THIS SINCE EP 3, & IVE BEEN WAITING FOR IT TO CATCH ON 😂
This has honestly been such a great show and we only have one episode left. Genuinely can’t wait for season 2.
I don’t know about that 😬
@@Vale9118 Can't wait for season 2
i also can’t wait for people to get mad, i’m going to enjoy that so much.
@@Vale9118 I think the fact that the writers of the show are clearly taking an overall different approach to the storytelling structure than the games is a good indication that what happens in part 2 will be executed differently. It could possibly be much better and I have hope it will.
@@juicestains52 I don’t see all this “different approach” except for what happened to Bill and the only reason I think they did that was because his part in the game is really action packed and they preferred another direction… all the rest of the story is basically same as the game 🤷🏼♀️ if Ellie will be on a revenge journey it will have to be impactful as in the game or it won’t work
Shimmer was the pony that Ellie was petting at the stables, Callus was the horse they took
When Joel hit her with the "baby girl"...me: instantly 😭🥰
the way that joel called ellie babygirl when the last time he said that was when sarah was dying in his arms 20 years ago..... GOD
Rana's always talking hot shit about how everyones getting left in an apocalypse but she cant eat a horse, Rana YOU need help the most lol!
Me during this whole episode: "She's fourteen. She's fourteen. SHE IS FOURTEEN."
From 7:00 when Suraj realized what the "meat" was lmao
The show The Terror is about the two ships that got lost looking for the Northwest Passage (and what happened to the crew)! I watched it a few weeks ago after seeing Yellowjackets, it’s very well done! One of the stars is Edmure Tully from GoT.
2:30 I'm not going to church in the apocalypse... it's done 🤣
Fun fact : Penicillin is made from Fungus
Like the doc implied in episode 1 fungus both saves the world and kills it too
Rana’s and Marketa’s reaction to the cannibalism!😂🤯🤯
Rana is my favorite to watch, she gets so concerned and into it 😂😂
Bit too much, she jumps like a cricket in every show at every scene… cmon
@@Vale9118 She also repeatedly gave away, that the preacher is a pedo - thank god the rest of the group didn't listen to her, before it was revealed.
