If you are planning on the sleeping platform, you will find the best DIY cheap and great design on CheaperJeeperTV...
Love the black corrugated plastic I use it to black out all my windows have been using it in my rv for years. Love the vent idea will make it have been brainstorming on that one for years thanks!

Another great video, nice window vent. I might have to update my design for mine. I haven't been out winter camping yet this year, we are having a rainy winter.
Hey TrailWalker, Thanks. You know, you can get a sheet of that plastic panel and make enough for everyone in the group!😄Cheers.
Great video. Thank you.
Thanks. I’m glad you found it helpful. Cheers.
Hey Dino, this is actually upgraded version from your original.
I like it better as the aluminum can damage the door or paint and with this board feels much safer (for the car, that is...) 😊
Great video as usual...
Cheers, Nash

I’m happy that you found the video helpful. Feel free to share.

We were able to buy a blank corrugated yard sale sign at Home Depot for under $6 size that was just the perfect size. I think it was about 18 x 20
Hey Jason,
BRILLIANT! Thanks for sharing.
Cheers.
You're quite a handy Jeeper too!
Hey Randy, If they can’t find you handsome, they can at least find you handy. Lol. Thanks.
Cheers.
i would change the mechanics that there is a frame and three single slots of soffit vents..so u can slide in the vents or solid plates or the winter header inlet. hope that make sense :)
Hey Avaloniac, That is pretty smart!!! Great tip. Thank you. Cheers
If i want to make the winter panel for my JK should I just measure my window and do the same thing? Should I leave some extra depth to get inside the window seals?
Hey TheMxPenguin,
Just measure the width of your window, and then add some extra length to tuck into the window groove on each side. That tucked in part holds the panel in place.
Have fun.
I followed your original design but was able to find a vinyl gutter guard that worked well. It has a mesh on the back. I had to hot melt glue the mesh where I trimmed to length. I may have to upgrade to the Tenplast window fillers for the front.
Very cool. I like having the louvers in case it rains and I don't have a tarp over.
Mind you, if you're winter camping, then it's not so much as issue.
Sounds like you're all set.
@@CheaperJeeperTV Except if you are camping on the west coast. We get *some* snow but it rains A LOT! I'll be switching over to louvres soon. It's a good design idea. I might use rivets with washers instead of bolts. Can't hurt to try.
I agree with trying the rivets.
@@CheaperJeeperTV I just saw this and may give it a try. Looks quite simple (and CHEAP) so I thought I should share! ua-cam.com/video/ixEpp4hoofU/v-deo.html
Oh yes...I've seen that recently. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Hey Dino. Great vid. How durable is the corrugated panel, especially if you thin the bottom skirt? Would thin plywood work too?
Hey Gary, Thin plywood would work too. You’d need to coat it with something to protect it from the moisture. The corrugated sheet seems durable., but is a new design. I’m sure it will hold up but I’ll need to be using it for a while beforeI can say for sure. Thanks for watching. Cheers.
@@CheaperJeeperTV Hi Dino. It has been a few months now, how has the corrugated plastic held up? Also, if you use the louvred vent, do you need the window deflectors? Thanks
@@garymw646 Gary, I had been using an early version of the louvered vent design without the window deflectors with no issue. So if you don't have then, don't worry, they are not necessary, as the louvres do the job without need of the deflectors. As for the durability of the plastic corrugated panels, well they are still around, but I haven't been camping enough to really test them long term. I hope that helps.
Cheers.
@@CheaperJeeperTV Hi Dino. As a winter project, I have started making the window screen. Really liking the design. I am finding that it is tricky removing the extra plastic behind the skirt. The dremel sure helps but can easily make holes if left in one spot. Curious though why 2 inches are needed at the bottom. It is good having the skirt to shield rain. But wouldn't 1 inch be enough? I did find I needed .5 inch at the above the screen to wedge into the window frame. And another 0.5 inch below the screen to accommodate the curve in the glass. With those extras, I added 3 inches to the height of the screen. I think it maybe too much. A 1 inch skirt may be enough.
@@garymw646
Hey Gary,
1" may be enough. Just watch that it extends past the curves at the top edges of the window that it's placed upon.
Have fun. Cheers.
there is a house for sell up the road, with a big for sale sign, the sign is using that type of plastic, woops, it was very windy last night, it got blow away
Yes. Thanks. Cheers.
How about spring and fall?
Oh that's the next video!😄
