ImpulseKi alex just wanted to be one of the strokes, it’s and “inside joke” with all the fans of the strokes and alternative rock in general who are familiar with both bands, and alex turner opened the album before last by admitting he was and is a fanboy of the strokes
Pre 9/11 here. Cell phones were used for talking and texting only. No smart phones. Rock was being reborn yet again. It was the best of times. Especially now as we emerge into The New (Ab)normal of post Covid life.
When The Strokes came along they were badly needed. As a brit we were at the tail end of the Media coined Britpop era and nothing was new or exciting. Then These guys came along and gave life to The Libertines, The Hives and Arctic Monkeys all got serious attention and owed it all to The Strokes. Is This It is as good a debut as The Sex Pistols NMTBHTSP The Stone Roses self titled debut or Oasis definitely mabey. There impact on British guitar bands was absolutely huge.
Any other old people here that were in the fan club back in the day and got this on DVD as part of the membership? Also did anyone else get the misprint version they originally sent out where everything was normal about the packaging but when you played the DVD it was an "adult film"? (No, none of the band members were in it.) Never felt so confused & disappointed. They sent out an apology email saying the printers made a mistake and I think we had to send them back ...? I forgot all about this until UA-cam recommended this video to me today. Tell me I didn't dream this happened almost 20 years ago!

bruce wayne i feel ya completely !! Some of the warmth for me stems from old New York and the bands that emerged in the post punk revival scene !!
